The Wedding Dress!

Hi, friends!  I posted a few pictures on my Facebook and Instagram page, but in case you missed those, Mark and I got married last weekend at Forsyth Park in Savannah and it was the sweetest ceremony.  Simple and easy, just the way we wanted it.  I took a few pics with my phone and we did  have a photographer there taking lots of pics which I should get back in a week or so and I will definitely share many of those when I get them back.  In the meantime, enjoy these few shots of us and me in my wedding dress.  I’ll share all about the wedding venue and all the details about our big day later, but in the meantime enjoy these few pics!

When I saw this dress on Nordstrom, I just knew it was the right dress for me to wear on my special day.  I pictured us wearing summer attire, looking quite stylish in lace and linen in the sultry city of Savannah. Mark bought this gorgeous linen jacket and pants last year and it’s been fun for him to have them for summer events.  I knew his linen would be perfect for our wedding day.  All the neutrals!

With the heat and humidity of summer, I should have known better and just gone curly with my hair, but I didn’t listen to myself.  I got it all straight with my flat iron and sprayed it down with hair spray, but even that can’t compete with summer in Savannah and the intense humidity that happens just going outside.  We started on the porch of our bed and breakfast that we stayed in and by the time I got to the park, it was starting to flip and flop. But oh well, it was a wonderful day!

It misted rain that morning and we were very worried that it really might downpour for our 10:30 wedding time, but luckily it stopped and was only cloudy which was better for picture taking anyway.

After the ceremony we posed for a few pics and took a lot with the photographer, which I can’t wait to see!

A single shot of me in my dress, I just loved the dress and felt very pretty in it. I got a size smaller than I normally do and had to reorder to get the right one, so the dress definitely runs big.

Y’all will chuckle at this…I wore shoes from Goodwill.  I found these last summer and thought they were really cute, looked practically brand new and when I got the dress, I knew these shoes would be perfect with it.

The rings!  I know you all want details, so I’m trying to give them to you!  It was such a special and sweet day for us and I’m so happy to share it all with y’all. You’ve been so supportive and caring to me and my family over the years and I’m thrilled with this next chapter in life.  It’s been quite the journey to get here and I feel so blessed!

Again, I’ll be back with LOTS more pics of the wedding and where we stayed and all of that, so stay tuned for more. Savannah is a beautiful backdrop for a wedding and I’m so glad we chose this picturesque city for our special wedding day, July 29, 2017!

Love that you’ve shared pictures, thanks a bunch for thinking of us on your special day. Mark is clearly one of those dashing men who can wear linen without it wrinkling. There must be a special gene. If I wear linen, I look like I’ve slept in it! Again, congratulations to you both and all best wishes.

Thanks, Jan! Oh, believe me he was worrying about his linen shirt getting wrinkled. I reminded him that it’s linen and summer in Savannah, so don’t stress it.

Congratulations, Rhoda! You look beautiful and I love what Mark wore too!

While you were getting married, I was preparing the reception tables for my nephew’s wedding which took place later that same day! They were married in California, in the afternoon. It was hot there too, but no humidity.

Thanks for sharing all the sweet details of your day with us!

This brought a smile and tear to my eyes. I couldn’t be happier for you. When you first mentioned something about new houses last Fall, I knew something was in the wind, but your story still isn’t over! Your Goodwill detail made my day, also.
I’m praying your Dad continues to improve. It’s a hard road, but with love, determination and good nutrition, it can be surmounted, having been through similar with my DH after a heart transplant this Spring.

Congratulations! You both looked amazing. I too will remember your anniversary because it was my birthday as well!! And a little bit of trivia…Charles and Diana were married on July 29th, 1981. I was a little put-off that I wasn’t invited to that wedding! P.S. – I like your dress much better than Di’s!! Lol.

Julia, I love sharing our anniversary with your birthday and others. And I had totally forgotten Charles and Di’s wedding date. Our date was 20 months and 1 day after our first date, which was really special too.

Rhoda, You both look stunning. I am so happy for you both. Your dress is beautiful. And I love that you wore shoes from Goodwill. I laughed out loud. You are one of the most genuine people in the world and that is an absolute compliment! God bless your marriage. Diane
