One of my very special and dear friends, Kim, from Daisy Cottage is here today to show off her thrifting finds. Kim and I started off as online friends about 8 years ago when we met on a decorating board and since then we’ve met in person, so I’m proud to call her a real life friend now. I just adore Kim and Maggie, her adorable dachsund, as well as Daisy Cottage, her oh so cute home and if you haven’t been to her blog yet, you must go over and check it out. It’s a feast for the eyes, especially if you love cottages and vintage decor. Kim and I are thrifting sisters and even got to hang out together at her house and do some thrifting last year about this time. I wish she lived near me, we’d be hanging out all the time. In fact, Kim is the one who encouraged me to start blogging, so you have her to thank for that. I’m so glad I did!
So, welcome Kim as she shares her thrifty finds with us!
Just like our dear friend, Rhoda, I, too, love to venture out early Saturday mornings and go to yard sales. I am really lucky, as yard sale season is year-round in Florida! And I am even luckier as my sister and I usually go together. Picture Lucy and Ethel and that pretty much describes our yard saling adventures!
Attending these sales is a wonderful way to get to know your town. You discover hidden neighborhoods that you might not have otherwise found and you meet the nicest people! As the sun rises and the birds begin to sing, AND the morning air creates crazy curls for our hair, we always find a treasure – or two. 😉
Last Saturday was no exception and I did, indeed, find several goodies and all for the grand total of $6!
Here is what I found:
Two vintage hankies, three old books – one entitled “Miracle Gardening” that I am sure will come in VERY handy, a red velvet pillow, a darling Christmas apron, and a fabulously fringed Christmas tablecloth!
There are SO many things that you can do with your yard sale treasures. The possibilities are ENDLESS. For example, you can create lovely gift baskets for any occasion – by filling them with the things that you have found along the way. A garden-themed basket could include a pair of old garden gloves, a few vintage tools, a well-read garden book, and a chippy little pot with a happy plant! A vintage cookbook tied up with a bow that has a wooden spoon tucked in its knot would be lovely to give AND to receive! And who wouldn’t love to have a sweet little hankie to call their own?
And, of course, you can also layer your home, from top to bottom with your newly found treasures as Rhoda and I love to do ….
I so hope that you give yard sales a try! For you see, buried underneath the piles of rubbish and what-nots, are true diamonds in the rough, waiting to be loved and sparkle again! Think of all the fun that you, too, can have for $6!
See you at the sales!!!
XO,
Kim
Thank you, Kim, my sweet friend!
Now, it’s YOUR turn to share what you’ve found . Just sign up with Mr. Linky and be sure and add the permalink of your post and not just your blog url. I’ll have to delete anything that is not relevant to this party. And be sure and link back from YOUR blog to this post so others can come and join the party.
What is a permalink?? OK, Ladies! I’m going to have to do a little tutorial again on how to play with Mr. Linky. Once your post is done, click on the title & you will see a long address in your browser box. COPY THAT url and post into the Mr. Linky box, since THAT post will be permanent in the links and months from now, someone can click on your link and find your post. Don’t just paste your BLOG url, but the actual post url. Got it, OK good?! I just had to go change a bunch of the links to the actual post.
I’ll share a few more of my finds on Tuesday.
Our friend, The Nester, is sharing some exciting things on her blog on Monday, so go by and check it out.

I woke up early on both Saturday and Sunday and found nothing but rain and lots of rain at that. So, here’s hoping next Saturday in Baltimore Maryland is sunny….there’s a big church yard sale and a community yard sale and that’s only the ones I actually saw signs too…I look every Thursday or Friday in the local paper for the rest….I can’t wait, it will be the first of the season.
Love your finds…..

I’m a new blogger. I work at an antique mall so love reading about thrifting – will certainly share this with all of our dealers. Our mall is sponsoring us in the 3 Day Walk, thus the cause of our blog, Queen of TaTas! Thanks.

Rhoda, I wish I lived Bama. I know we would have a ton of fun thrifting. Maybe one day I’ll make it up to Birmingham. I’ve been dying to check out the boutiques and little tearooms up there. Until then….ROLL TIDE!(wink)
