You may recall that last year, I showed you a pic from Restoration Hardware. Meet Riley. I really like Riley, just don’t like the pricetag of $670.
So, I found this fixture at a thriftstore for a measly $5 and brought it home. Not exactly the same, but a good facsimile, don’t you think. Same shape, same little pointy things at the bottom. 🙂
Notice anything different? Oh you do? I know…isn’t it beautiful? It sat for a few months until I finally got around to hanging it. And had to give it a nice coat of black spray paint to even up the color.
And wowsa, do I love it or what?!
You know what a yardsale diva I am. Just a couple of weeks ago, I picked up these shades for 25 cents each. I wasn’t really sure if I could use them on here or not, but there were 6 of them, so I grabbed them up. I couldn’t even remember how many bulbs it had, but I did good. $1.50 for all of them, with one to spare. They are a pretty white linen and perfect for this chandy. My lighting issues are 100% complete after 3 years of replacing them One. By. One. And I’m a happy girl. If you’d like to see the transformation of this guestroom from last fall, click here for all the details.
Since we are in here, I’ll also show you what I picked up at The Brown House, that is sadly closing their doors in Homewood this month. I had admired Peter’s Pottery who are very well known potters out of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, when I was in there and he’s offering it for 30% off now, so I splurged on a pretty covered bunny vase.
It’s in a pretty aqua color with a very delicate bunny on top.
Love it in here and I’ll treasure this piece.
So I guess you could say I shop at the yardsales, so I can afford to splurge on a treasure every now and then.
I’m adding this post to Susan’s Met Monday, since this is a before and after project too.
So, did you find anything this weekend? It’s time for sharing our Monday treasures, so sign up below with Mr. Linky. You are the one that has me on the hunt for lighting fixtures. Too think of all of the ones that I have passed up….so sad. :)But it gives me something new to be on the hunt for.
Your new light fixture looks great. And I agree…you deserve to splurge every now and then. I love the bunny vase.

Wow! You did a great job, Rhoda! It’s sooo similar for virtually no money! I am replacing all of my lights, too. I understand about one by one. It’s a job, huh? But doesn’t it make you feel good to find the perfect one?? Love the bunny jar! Have a great week!!!…Debbie
Wow what a beautiful job you did on redoing the chandy. I never get the lucky with finding really great treasures… Oh and that Bunny Vase is just adorable…

The chandelier is just so pretty! You’ve done a great job with it! Love it!
I like it even better than the spendy one!
What a wonderful chandelier and redo. I just love it! You are so lucky to find such great yard sale treasures!
Hi Rhoda
I’ve started looking forward to Mondays now!:)
I love the chandelier. I am looking for one for my daughter’s ballerina room.
I love the bunny too.

The chandelier is wonderful… great job!
I grew up in the Mississippi Delta so I am very fond of Peter’s Pottery and own around 20 pieces. I have that exact piece and it is my FAVORITE!!! It sits in my kitchen for everyone to see! Love the light!
I love the bunny ginger jar! My mom gave it to me for Christmas last year! I have lots of bunnies from McCarty Pottery from when I was younger so I have a big collection for bunnies. Peter used to work at McCarty and left there to start his own!
Rhoda, your yard sale posts always inspire me. Perhaps this coming weekend I will grab my neighbor and go to a few! The chandelier is perfect in that bedroom!
Rhoda — what a blast to meet you and I didn’t know you were a yard sale / thrift shop diva! Girl, you are speaking my language! I love a good bargain and this chandelier is darling, just darling!! Love it!
Thanks for inspiring me to yard sale shop! This stay-at-home mama needs some thrifty finds!
Your light fixture is just beautiful! I love the black color and the shades just make it! Good eye and what a bargain you made!

Love the light Rhoda! One of the reasons I just started my blog was so I could share too!
Oh I love your shopping style! Great redo of the chandelier!
The chandelier is yummy! You wonder if PB looks back at the retro styles, and copies them! Yours is an original for sure, and soo makes that room wonderful!
You are always so creative and have such a good eye!! I have that same bunny piece but mine has a bird on top. It’s also Peter’s and I love it. Living in Mississippi, I have lots of Peter’s and McCarty.
