I love a good loaf of bread as well. One of my favorites is served at Not Your Average Joe’s restaurants. They serve it with a dipping sauce of olive oil, Parmesan, some garlic and red pepper flakes. It’s so good you don’t even need your lunch/dinner.
I have a great recipe for grandmother bread made partly in the bread maker. It is posted on my blog under the from the kitchen label, or you can comment that you would like a copy if you do.
That book sounds great and I appreciate a chance to win a copy. Thanks.

A few years ago our Hy-Vee grocery stores started selling artisan breads that they make in-house. My favorite is the roasted garlic baguette…we eat 1-2 loaves a week, especially in the summertime when we grill a lot. I like to make my own bread, but I’ve never made a loaf as good at the Hy-Vee bread!! Hopefully someday.

I am looking forward to seeing your Lovelady pictures. I hope the author of this book eventually perfects his bread and includes a recipe for the rest of us! Sounds like one to add to the home library .

I read a lot as well, it has always been one of my joys!

I usually buy the frozen bread they you let rise or the frozen rolls that you rise for ease. Although before we had kids, I made my own much more often! One year we made homemade pretzels several times. So our twins requested to have a make your own pretzel party for their birthday…now 5 years later some of their friends still talk about it! LOL

Hi Rhoda – What a neat giveaway! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

Let’s see… I have a deep love for really fresh pumpernickel, but I haven’t been able to find a really good one in years and years, so my next best options is a well made French baguette, sliced thin and slathered with a little slightly cool yet spreadable butter. Heaven!

    🙂

I like French bread — can make some delicious french toast in addition to garlic bread. 🙂

My favorite bread? That is like picking my favorite child. I love bread. Atkins would kill me. Maybe a good fresh honey wheat. But a great french or sour dough are right up there, too.

Last night we ate at Red Lobster so I can’t get my mind (or taste buds) off the Cheddar Biscuits right now. If my palate was cleared I would pick a hearty honey wheat like the loaf baked up by a friend from her own ground wheat berries.

One of my favorite breads is Pepperidge Farm Oatmeal Bread. I really would love to try making bread….one day, I will clear my schedule and get to it!

Reading and bread. Two of my favorite things! I love ANY kind of bread. My youngest daughter makes the most delish rolls. Thanks for the giveaway.

My mom makes the best Irish Soda Bread. She always makes it to go with her homemade vegetable soup. The best combination for a cold or rainy day. The soft warm middle of the bread is so good and the hard crust is awesome for soaking up the veggie soup. Yum! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
