If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love green. Green makes me happy. I just can’t help it. It’s found outside in the grass, trees, and flowers. It bursts forth with Spring and so, bringing green in my house makes sense for me.
Green. makes. me. HAPPY!
I got a can of Annie Sloan Antibes Green and had plans to use it in my bedroom on a piece of furniture, but when I tried it out in there, it just didn’t work with my other greens. Another creative thought came into my head and I thought, why not add that color to the inside laundry room door. That door goes to the outside and it’s white, so why not make that a happy door. It would flow well with my gray and white stripes in the space and I planned to add color in there anyway once I get moving on more plans to beautify that space.
It’s certainly not done yet, although it’s a lot better than it was.
Why not take an out of the way door and make it happy? That’s what I say! White is plain and not very inspiring on a door, so I decided to kick it up a notch.
First, I taped off the doorknob and hinges with my trusty FrogTape. Love that stuff!
Protect the hinges from paint.
I used a small foam roller and rolled on the Annie Sloan Antibes Green. Worked out great. It goes on nice and smooth. You don’t have to prime with Annie Sloan paint. I will probably go back and wax both of the doors that I’ve painted and that will help protect the finish even more, but from what I hear you don’t have to prime. This is a metal door too. This is after one coat.
I did three coats to make it nice and well covered and now it’s HAPPY and I love it!
Looks fantastic with my gray and white striped concrete floors that I did awhile back. This room will eventually come together and will look even better once I finish all the painting and get things organized in here. I’m so thankful to have this space, an all purpose laundry room, mudroom, and storage room. And eventually potting shed too, once I get a sink installed.
In the meantime, this cheerful green door makes ME happy. Rhonda’s dog, Cody likes it too.
Isn’t he a cutie? It’s fun to have a dog around again. It’s been awhile for me. He greets me every morning outside my door and if that doesn’t make your day go better, nothing will.

I am working on another inside door today. What’s the difference between frog tape and painter’s tape?
I knew to tape the handles, but it didn’t dawn on me to tape the hinges. I’ve been going around them so carefully that it has been taking forever!

Rhoda, I love green too & that’s spectacular! The door looks great. You are living in the right place being in Atlanta. I was amazed at how green it was when I was there a few years ago. Looks like you are doing wonderful things with your laundry room. Love the stripes on the concrete! I’ve been wanting to try out Annie Sloan paints, and I just bought some frog tape for my painting projects.
I’ve been looking for the perfect green to paint in a niche in my home…I think you’ve found it in the ASCP! Cody is precious – looks like he’s doing his “play stance” and ready to help with the next project!
I love that shade of green! I’ve thought about using ASCP on my kitchen cabinets and interior doors and was wondering how it holds up to every day use. Perhaps you can give us an update on that? 😉
I enjoyed your pictures and writing. However, I was taken aback when you brought God into your narrative. Religion is so private a thing and this is such an inappropriate forum. Like a lot of people I’m not religious and I resent the gratuitous religious palaver. It’s something best left to a religious blog or talking to your best friends. I won’t be back.
HI, Sal, that is certainly your choice on which blogs you read, however, as personal a thing as religion and God are, I will definitely be keeping it and Him in my writing and my blog. He’s a huge part of my life and whether you or anyone else gets that, it’s my blog and I’ll keep God right there where He needs to be. Thank you and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of blogs to read who won’t offend you.
I think there are a lot of dyi bloggers out there who express their closeness to God, and I think that’s totally appropriate as long as that’s who they truly are. This is the place for Rhonda to express whatever she feels inspired without holding back and that’s how a blog should be. Thanks!
Oh, that is so pretty!! Just so pretty! I’ve been itching to get my hands on some Annie Sloan chalk paint because I want to update the ugly table and hutch in my breakfast nook. I can’t make up my mind on color, though. I REALLY like this. An unexpected pop of bold color is always so wonderful. The entire Annie Sloan line reminds me of a Victorian-ish era. Not that I was there. Almost, but not quite. Your eye for color is unmatched, Miss Rhoda.
I love green, too. The outside of my house is green and white. It reminds me of a gingerbread house I once saw. I knew when we bought that I’d want a green exterior. But then I got carried away and brought the outside in as well. I have green everywhere. I don’t hate it, I just think it’s dark now and I’m on a mission to lighten it all up.
