Today, I’m participating in a little blog hop, where I’ll introduce you to 3 of my favorite blog friends and their favorite projects. Thanks to Amy and Christy from 11 Magnolia Lane for featuring me at their blog last week and asking me to participate in this fun little blog tour around the blogosphere. Be sure and stop over to visit these creative ladies!  I’m always happy to introduce you to some of my blog friends.
We were asked to answer the following questions, so I’m sharing a bit of my creative process with all of you today.
1. What am I working on?
Right now, I’m about to start a new outdoor project with my dad. Yay, a new project! We are building a small retaining wall in my front yard to dress up the area around my garage and front sidewalk. After getting my house landscaped, that is one area that needs some help and a small retaining wall will do wonders for this little bank of dirt. So, that’s what we are up to at the moment. Most of the inside of my house is finished and that’s a good feeling, but I’ve still got a few things to do outside to finish off my house and create even more curb appeal. Stay tuned for that project coming up next month! As you can see, we’ve already got the pavers ready to go.
2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I’m not so sure I’m all that different as a blogger from everyone else out there, but I do try to stay true to my own style and house needs. I have been working on my house for the past 2 years (since moving in here in October of 2012) and it’s definitely been a work in progress. I don’t repaint rooms just to have something to do, so most of the time, I decorate an area and leave it alone for the most part. I do like to change things up for the seasons and freshen an area up with something new here and there. I do sometimes get overwhelmed at all the beauty and projects being done out in blogland, because who can keep up with that all the time? I sure can’t!
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
I started blogging 7.5 years ago because I loved sharing my creative projects and it was a fun outlet for me. I’ve never tired of sharing my house and what I’m doing on my blog with all my readers and it’s become such a fun part of my life. I enjoy and am passionate about making things pretty and improving a space. I love to see a space that is really ugly and figure out what I can do to it to make it function so much better and to make it pretty too. It has to be pretty no matter what!
4. How does your writing/creative process work?
I normally share things on my blog that I’m actually working on at my house. That’s why you don’t see a complete room makeover all the time or a huge project that I’ve completed. I try to share real life things that I’m actually doing at my house. I don’t like to invent things to blog about and I tend to share what is going on in my life, whether it’s family stuff or house stuff. Both are important to me and I think both are interesting (and luckily, you all do too!). I try to think ahead on what I need to share and I’m always taking pics and getting them ready to share on my blog. That’s all a part of the creative process of writing a blog. It’s never ending too, so I always look at things I can blog about and what will be interesting to my readers. I haven’t run out of creative ideas yet, thank goodness!
Now, I’m going to introduce you to 3 of my fave blog friends.Â
First up, Beth with Home Stories A to Z, who is on the Haven team with me. We’ve been blog friends since around 2010.Â
Beth Hunter is the author of Home Stories A to Z, a decorating blog for those who possess more creativity than dollars. Growing up, Beth moved around a lot and was encouraged to redecorate her bedroom in each new home. This began a life-long love affair with creating beautiful spaces. Beth’s talent for decorating has opened doors and allowed her to follow her dreams! On her blog, you will find budget decorating tutorials, tips, and tricks that will help you achieve the look you want for less.
Favorite project: DIY Plank Wall Tutorial.
Be sure to check out Beth’s blog for lots more creative inspiration in decorating. She’s done some awesome projects in her historic row house in PA.
Next, I’d like to introduce you to Beth from Unskinny Boppy.  Beth is a Birmingham, AL friend and we’ve also done several blog trips together, which is always a blast. She has a beautiful house which I’ve shared on Feature Friday before.
Beth’s favorite project:
My Grandparent’s home stayed in our family after they passed away, so when my uncle decided to renovate it he gave me a bunch of the old wooden trim from around the doors and windows. I even scored the kitchen door threshold, which holds decades of dusty memories and family history within it’s grooves. I needed a way to preserve this cherished wood and display it in my own home today, so I came up with this unique photo “frame” idea. This is one of the most special projects I’ve ever created, and it will always hold a special place in my DIY loving heart.
And next is Stacy, from Not Just a Housewife. From Stacy:
I am first and foremost a wife, and a mom to 4 boys who keep me on my toes. I love anything and everything that has to do with home decor whether it is inside our out. I have been been DIYing since I was a child. It is a way of life and I can’t imagine not keeping busy with projects. I think my dining room will forever been covered in sawdust and there will always be a power tool in some random room along with paint cans and a drill.
Hope you all enjoyed this tour through blogland with a few of my blog friends. There’s so much talent out there, it’s never ending these days. It’s fun to see what everyone is up to and how they decorate their homes.
Great tour. Love seeing the inside of your house!
Thanks for your openness, honesty, and creativity, Rhoda. You are truly an inspiration and a delight. I can’t wait to see the outcome of the retaining wall.
Hi Rhoda, Love the retaining wall idea. It looks to be a cool little project with a great space to dress up your entry.
I also love the stained trim above the entrance to the dining room. It is the details like that that make all the difference!
