The Winner is: #228, Phyllis! Congrats, Phyllis, you have been emailed!
So excited to share a new book with you today!
My friend, Ana White, has just published a brand new book, all about handbuilt furniture. She is a mom and wife from Alaska and a dynamo with power tools. She started her blog a few years ago which grew out of her love of furniture making. After not being able to afford new furniture for her home, she taught herself how to use her husband’s power tools and began building her own, based on designs from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and other stores. She drew up her own plans and shares them for free on her blog.
This book, The Handbuilt Home, documents 34 of her simple, stylish, and budget-friendly wood-working projects and you are going to love it!
Designer Furniture for a fraction of the cost? Yes, you can build it!
Ana flew all the way from Alaska this past summer to join us for the Haven Conference and it was so fun to meet her. She’s beautiful, adorable, just plain nice and is a tiny little thing, who you can’t imagine using hefty power tools. But, let me tell you, she knows her way around them now! She is self-taught and so smart to come up with all the plans she makes and she has made them all available on her blog all these years. It’s no wonder a book publisher came a-calling!
Ana had no woodworking skills when she got started. She and her hubby built their first home themselves, board by board, paycheck by paycheck. When they moved in, they had no money to buy the nice furniture they really wanted and refused to settle for low-cost particle board, so Ana taught herself how to build and made her first project, their bed. Since that time, Ana has built hundreds of pieces of furniture and now has a huge website, Ana White Homemaker, where she gets over 4 million pageviews a month from homeowners who love what she does and uses her building plans to make their own furniture too. Ana has inspired so many people to pick up power tools and do it themselves and I just love her story!
She’s offering one free project from the book, the farmhouse bench, here at this link from the book.
And if you’d love to get a copy of Ana’s book too, we’re giving ONE away to one of my readers!Â
All you have to do is leave a comment telling me that you’d love to have the book for yourself. It’s a beautiful book and I’m so proud for Ana.Â
Is there a furniture piece that you’d love to be able to make yourself? Tell me in the comments!
{Giveaway will be open for 1 week and will close at Midnight on Thursday, Nov. 8th. U.S. residents only please. I wasn’t paid for this giveaway, but did receive a free copy for myself.}

I need a new table and Ana’s farmhouse table is just what I want. Not only can she build but she knows what a woman wants. That is two great combinations. I would love this book not only to use but to place out on my coffee table. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love a copy of this book. What a smart young woman, I so enjoy all the things you share on this blog. Thank you!
I would love to have a copy of her book! I would love plans to make nightstands for my bedroom. So proud of Ana! Thanks for the giveaway Rhoda.
This is great! I actually had someone build me a piece of furniture by showing them a Pottery Barn picture. If I get this book I may even try it myself!
I would love to win! Have seen so many things Ana has made and they are unbelievable. What fun to attempt something myself! Some power tools may be on my Cristmas list this year! Thanks for the chance at this great giveaway.
Would LOVE to learn woodworking! A farm table would be so fun to have/make! Would love love love Ana’s book!
I would love to give this to my son-in-law for Christmas! He loves to build and loves wood.

I would love a copy of the book. That is exactly what I am trying to do – learn how to use power tools so I can build my own things (landscaping, furniture, remodeling, etc). I am going to check out her blog.
I would love to win a copy of the book! I have always wanted to try my hand at furniture building.
Hi Rhoda,
I could really use this book! My first project would be the fireplace mantle. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Joanie
I have done any work working projects before and I would love to learn. This book sounds great!
I would absolutely love to win this book – what an inspiration you both are to us less talented!
I would LOVE this book! I have always wanted handmade, real-wood furniture but it is usually so expensive. If there is a cheaper way to do it, then I want to learn how!
Ohhhhh I would love, love to win!! I’ve been wanting to build us a new kitchen table and I know Ana’s book would help me pull it off!! Thanks for the chance to win!!
We are doing an addition on our home and would love this book! I’ve admired Ana’s pieces online for some time and want to build the entry bench listed on her website. I know the book would give us many more good ideas!
The woman is amazing, love her skills as well as ideas. Would love to have her book to actually hold and page thru! Sign me up!
I would love to have her book. I have seen her website and wish I had the courage to try it for myself! Maybe the book will be just what I need to get started.
I’d love a copy of this book also. I find I always need help from someone to complete a wood project. I’d like to make one of her small benches to start off with.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Rhoda, I’d love to win this book for my daughter. She isn’t afraid to tackle any project. She totally remodelled a camper to live in while in college and made it a real haven!
Thanks,
Sandy
I need to give my boys a more “grown up” room than what they have now. I would love to be able to make their beds…I have something in my head, but I don’t know how to make it work in real life.
