{Giveaway is Closed}
The Winner is: #228, Phyllis! Congrats, Phyllis, you have been emailed!
So excited to share a new book with you today!
My friend, Ana White, has just published a brand new book, all about handbuilt furniture. She is a mom and wife from Alaska and a dynamo with power tools. She started her blog a few years ago which grew out of her love of furniture making. After not being able to afford new furniture for her home, she taught herself how to use her husband’s power tools and began building her own, based on designs from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and other stores. She drew up her own plans and shares them for free on her blog.
This book, The Handbuilt Home, documents 34 of her simple, stylish, and budget-friendly wood-working projects and you are going to love it!
Designer Furniture for a fraction of the cost? Yes, you can build it!
Ana flew all the way from Alaska this past summer to join us for the Haven Conference and it was so fun to meet her. She’s beautiful, adorable, just plain nice and is a tiny little thing, who you can’t imagine using hefty power tools. But, let me tell you, she knows her way around them now! She is self-taught and so smart to come up with all the plans she makes and she has made them all available on her blog all these years. It’s no wonder a book publisher came a-calling!
Ana had no woodworking skills when she got started. She and her hubby built their first home themselves, board by board, paycheck by paycheck. When they moved in, they had no money to buy the nice furniture they really wanted and refused to settle for low-cost particle board, so Ana taught herself how to build and made her first project, their bed. Since that time, Ana has built hundreds of pieces of furniture and now has a huge website, Ana White Homemaker, where she gets over 4 million pageviews a month from homeowners who love what she does and uses her building plans to make their own furniture too. Ana has inspired so many people to pick up power tools and do it themselves and I just love her story!
She’s offering one free project from the book, the farmhouse bench, here at this link from the book.
And if you’d love to get a copy of Ana’s book too, we’re giving ONE away to one of my readers!Â
All you have to do is leave a comment telling me that you’d love to have the book for yourself. It’s a beautiful book and I’m so proud for Ana.Â
Is there a furniture piece that you’d love to be able to make yourself? Tell me in the comments!
{Giveaway will be open for 1 week and will close at Midnight on Thursday, Nov. 8th. U.S. residents only please. I wasn’t paid for this giveaway, but did receive a free copy for myself.}

I’d love this book for my husband to give him something to do.
Renovating a rescued log cabin and renovation has taken most of my resources. Like Ann I am having to be resourceful to be able to furnish it. Her free plans for the bench is just what I needed, although it will be a few more months before I will be ready for it. I so admire her as well as the rest of your bloggers. Like others I have followed your journey these past months and can see how you have grown and trusted in the Lord. Love your folks.

I would love to give it a shot. Yes. Why not! 🙂
My husband has always been the woodworker in the family. Since being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year, his woodworking days are over. I’d love to be able to use his tools to continue our family tradition of making furniture. Would love to have the book.
I would love to win this book. Haven’t yet had the chance to make anything, but I’m hoping with a book to look at each day will get me going! Thanks for the chance
Love her! She’s so talented and I cannot believe some of the things she’s taken on! What a whiz at furniture making! I’d LOVE her book!
I would LOVE this book! I’ve been painting furniture for a long time, but I’ve never built it…this would be perfect for me!

I just added this to my wish list yesterday!
I would love to have this book. I would like to build some cute storage pieces for all of my kids’ toys!
Nothing makes you feel more powerful and able to conquer the world than learning to use a power tool. I sooooo need this book to help me accomplish my dreams! Thanks to you and Ana for the chance.
I would love to have a copy of the book! We just remodeled our kitchen and I would love to make a farmhouse style table that would fit in the new space.
I would love to win Ana’s book…I have seen several of her projects over the last year. She is very talented!
I would love to have this book and learn how to make furniture (and use power tools!). The farmhouse bench looks like it would be a good first project. Thank you and Ana for the chance to win!
I’d love a copy of Ana’s book! We need a kitchen island…
I would love to win Ana’s book! I just bought my first home in April and really need to be inspired to take that next step and work with power tools and make an attempt at building a piece of furniture that I can’t afford to buy from Pottery Barn. I think I’d like to try my hand at building a shelf/cubby unit for over my entry bench.
I would love to win Ana’s book….I need a headboard for our master bedroom and although I love….so many of the headboard’s at ballard’s and pottery barn….they just are not in my budget…. so my fingers and toes are crossed!!!!!
