There’s a little secret I didn’t tell y’all ahead of time. Peter and I have been on a fun vacation this week (thought it best not to broadcast it, you know?). We were beating the AL heat by taking a few days off in Seattle, Washington. What a gorgeous place it is!
I had already told a few of my friends that we were headed to the island of Bermuda and that was the plan all the way up to last Sunday, when it was discovered that my hubby forgot to renew his passport, so we weren’t going anywhere out of the country. Heh-heh, not to worry, we’ll go there later in a few months after renewal, so I get a 2 for 1 deal out of that mishap. 🙂
Last minute, we booked a flight to Seattle and there we were all week, enjoying that absolutely stunning place. I have LOTS to share and a ton of pics too, but I will be repacking tomorrow for my trip to the ranch in OK to meet Ree and the BlogHer girls too, so I will be just a tad busy for the next few days.
We stayed right on the water in this really cool place, The Edgewater, with a real lodge feel. Loved it!
We saw the magnificent Mount Rainier, up close and personal, so I have lots of pics to share of that fun day. We were so fortunate to have great weather 3 days in a row, with sunshine and cool temps.
The temps were perfect, we had sunshine and 70+ degree days. Couldn’t have ordered up more perfect weather for the week.
I ate plenty of good fresh seafood, like Dungeness crab. YUM!
But, will share a bunch MORE as soon as I can! I have LOTS to show and tell. My new camera got a good workout on this trip.

Glad you had fun in my city! You’re lucky with the weather though, it’s been such a horribly weird spring and summer already….

Rhoda, I’ve never been to Seattle but it’s on our”bucket list” of places to go!! You make me anxious to start planning, I guess this year’s trips are over. We just travelled from North Georgia to Canton, TX for the huge flea market there. Read about it on my newly “revivied” blog, http://www.antiquesanduniques.blogspot.com.

I lived in Seattle many years (plus I grew up in Tacoma) and know how gorgeous it is! It’s really one of the most beautiful places. You have the mountains to the east and the Sound to the west. It has a thriving arts community to boot! Lovely old homes. If it wasn’t for all that rain they get I’d say it was perfect! LOL!

Ah Seattle! One of my favorites! I see you that the fab 2 stayed at the same fabulous place as the Fab 4. 🙂
Did you eat your weight in seafood?

Rhoda,
How wonderful you were able to escape the Alabama heat and humidity! I think the best vacations I’ve had were the ones that were not planned. Enjoy! I look forward to reading about Seattle and seeing all your beautiful photographs. I’ve never been.

Deborah

We just got home from British Columbia and stepping off the plane into Atlanta’s humidity and heat was quite a shock. I love love love LOVE Bermuda, but it’s just as hot and sticky there as it is in the southeast, so you probably got a better deal this time around! And if you haven’t been there before, shoot me an email and I’ll share some of my favorite places on The Rock.

You are treating us to beautiful pictures. Our daughter and family lived in the area you are visiting so I know how you are enjoying the cooler temps, delightful food and awesome scenery.
Can’t wait to see and read your chronicles about your visit on the ranch with Ree. Have fun Rhoda!

So glad you got to go to Seattle! I have never been to the west coast but hopefully one day. Lucky that you had no rain though! We just got back from a week in OBX and it was STINKIN hot! But we had a POOL at the house so I spent the week floating on a raft in the pool:):) Can’t wait to see all your pics AND hear about you time at THE RANCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XO, Pinky

I am glad you enjoyed your visit to the beautiful Seattle area. I live about 35-40 minutes north of downtown Seattle. It is also great that you had some sun while you were here, we haven’t seen much of that lately. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
