I finally made a decision on the new camera. After much research, reading, agonizing, and angst, here’s what I’m getting, the Canon Rebel T1i. If you missed the discussion a few weeks ago about cameras, you might want to read this. Lots of good advice and opinions were put in the comments.
I could have gone either way, with a Nikon or Canon, but in the end, this one won me over and since I am already a Canon owner, it just made sense. I honestly don’t think I could go wrong with either brand and I’ve heard really good things about this one, so I’m sure I’ll have some fun with it. So, when I get it in I’ll be playing around taking a MILLION photos, so just be fore-warned about that. 🙂
I ordered it online from here, after getting a recommendation from blog friend, Chris, who just purchased this camera too.
Hope you all have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. I’ll have Thrifty Treasures up in case some of you get out to some sales. I have no idea what I’ll find this weekend, if anything, but we’ll have the party anyway!
If you have a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens, you’ve probably already seen the wonderful article on fabulous author, Mary Kay Andrews, adorable beach cottage on Tybee Island, GA, the Breeze Inn. When I met Mary Kay in Atlanta at the Eddie shopping trip last year, she was still in the process of finding treasures for her beach cottage. It was SO FUN to see it in print and to read the article about Mary Kay and her family, so if you haven’t seen it yet, pick up a copy of the June BHG.
Here’s a link to Mary Kay’s blog, talking about the article and photo shoot. You will love the pics!

Just because I can, I’m sharing these songs with you!
We caught a Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir special on the NRB station the other night and I am just lovin’ these songs. We recorded it and I’ve been playing it over and over. I WILL be ordering some of this music. I have loved this choir for years and this first song just keeps ringing in my ears and this was the performance we recorded. If this doesn’t bless your socks off, nothin’ will!! If and when I get back to NYC for a visit (I’ve only been once, very short), I WILL be going to church there. This is about as close to heaven as it gets here on this earth. Has anyone been to Brooklyn Tabernacle?? I’d love to hear about it.
This is the kind of Gospel music I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! If you have time, PLEASE listen to both.
Thou, Oh Lord:
Heaven on My Mind:
My hubby surprised me with the exact camera that you are getting. I still am learning how to use all of the features. I think you’ll like it!
Enjoy your weekend!
Congrats on the camera, you will love it!
I recently bought a Canon Rebel, and I love it!! I’m slogging my way through the instruction manual now!
I can really relate to the angst, research, etc. on selecting a new piece of technology. I’ve been doing the same thing with cameras and more so with a decent printer. Have I ordered either yet…no!
Will definitely check out Mary Kay’s site. Loved both of her books. Have a great Saturday!
My hubby is from Savannah Ga and we love Tybee. My sis in law is blessed to have a beach house there that she shares with all of us. Also love Mary Kay Andrews books…thanks for the link to her site. Enjoy your new camera.I use my hub’s Nikon and have really enjoyed it, would love to learn more about lens etc. Mostly I use it to take family pictures and photos for my blog. Have a great weekend!
Love those songs Rhoda… I have been listening to the Brooklyn Choir for a long time! So good, so powerful!
Enjoy your new camera… I got a new camera back in February… so fun!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Yeah, this camera rocks! I got mine last Christmas and have fallen headfirst into the photography world ever since. It’s hard not to! Have some incredible pics on our blog now you could check out if you want to see some of it in action. Apparently great for a “learner” but it makes you feel like a pro. Have fun!
My Sweet Babboo gave me the Cannon Rebel T1i for Christmas, along with the telephoto lens. This spring I bought the compact macro lense and the 50 mm fixed lens. There are a ton of features on this camera and I’m still learning about them, but so far I’m really happy with it. The camera shop it was purchased from gave a free set of classes about photography which I took and am glad I did. Hope you enjoy your camera and I’m looking forward to seeing your photography.
I have the same camera, and I LERV it! Enjoy!!! 🙂
Morning, Pretty Rhoda!! OH, I think I need to get a better camera! I’m not too techy but have figured out my little Nikkon! 🙂
Oh, now you’re talking up my alley! I LOVE THE BROOKLYN TABERNACLE CHOIR! Been singing their songs for years. A couple of years ago we were in New York we took a taxi to Brooklyn and attended church there! We were in Hog Heaven! We were so blessed that the pastor Jim Cymbala was there and preached! And the choir!! Oh, they sang two special musics! They are just so annointed! I have quite a few of their CDs! You know I love this stuff!
Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉

I got a new Nikon for Mother’s day….still trying to figure it out lol
Happy Memorial Day,
Kathy 🙂
ps…When i was reading my BHG I knew her name rang a bell !!! I have to go and reread the article….thanks for info !!!
I grew up listening to the Brooklyn Tab – they have blessed me in so many ways – as I am sure they bless the Lord! What a sweet, sweet sound in His ear 🙂 To hear them in person would be amazing… I really enjoyed this! Thanks..
I know you will LOVE your new camera. What fun! The hard part is learning how to use it. Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Love & blessings from NC!
Love the new camera! Is there a reason why you chose it over the newer model of that one that just came out? The T2 I think it is.
Hey, Sarah, the newer one is just more expensive, so I didn’t see any real reason to spend more when this one got such great reviews. I think this will be all the camera I’ll need for many years!
My daughter just received her new camera for Mother’s Day and is having a ball with it. I’ll send her to your blog so that she can watch for all your new photos. I love your blog and thanks, too, for the link to Mary Kay’s. I have my new BHG but hadn’t looked at it yet. Annie
Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite authors, and she has great style. I love how she includes her love of junking and design in her books. 🙂 I’ll have to see if I can find that issue!
hi there Rhoda..

Dear Rhoda, thanks for posting the Brooklyn Tab songs…I have loved them for many years. I really needed to hear “Thou Oh Lord” right when I clicked on it-so God used you to minister to me….thanks so much.
Seven years ago my husband and I were in N.Y. with another couple…the husband was there for a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering and we went to keep them company. We got a cab and went to Brooklyn-what a blessing…not only the music and the preaching but the people ministered to us in such a sweet personal way. We were seated on the front row…people shared their hymnals with us, their bibles with us, and after the service came to meet us. We were asked if we needed prayer and immediately a group enveloped us and begin to call out to God on behalf of our friend….just extraordinary…no patting us on the back and saying we will be praying for you, they did it right then……awesome and so comforting and healing.
Thanks again for being sensitive to the Lord and posting this-it ministered to me right on time!!! In Him, Pat
Rhoda,
I attended a christmas show once at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church while visiting NYC during the christmas season. I think the show that the choir put on was better than the broad way show that I went to NYC to attend! It is a beautiful old ornate church with a fabulous choir.
Blessings,
Liza Murray
