Christmas Cheer: Foyer, Family Room and Kitchen

Happy Friday friends! I’m wrapping up this week with the final home tour at our house. Joining a fun group of ladies and this tour has been going on all week, so hope you’ll stop by and visit them all. It’s a great way to get inspiration for yourself. Marty with A Stroll Thru Life is our hostess and she puts this tour together every year.

this …

If you’re stopping by from DaNita with Delightful Order, welcome to you! A little intro about me. I’m a long time blogger and have been in the blogging world for so long. It’s amazing that this is my 14th year of sharing Christmas decor and inspiration online. Oh how things have changed in those years!

This is the 3rd house I’ve lived in since blogging and my husband, Mark and I so enjoy updating our home and making it beautiful.

Welcome to the foyer! I love to add faux garland to the staircase and hang these gorgeous glass balls from it, this sure adds a festive touch all lit up at night. I got those pretty brass bells online and here are a couple of sources for those (affiliate links):

Brass Bells and more Brass Bells

These beautiful ornaments were from Tree Classics a few years ago and they are some of my favorite ornaments.

I made this bow myself with a roll of wired ribbon. Here’s a little video I did about that if you want to take a peek.

We are in the middle of a project in our foyer and it’s partly done. This foyer table is a favorite spot to add Christmas cheer.

This pretty Christmas tree pillow is from Pillow Candy LLC, owned by my friend, Mary here in Atlanta.

I filled this table with neutrals and lots of shimmery accents. I have a thing for mercury glass.

Trees are from Homegoods a couple years ago and the rest of my mercury glass is a lifetime collection. It never goes out of style.

I love piling pretty sparkly ornaments under glass and this collection of mercury glass ornaments looks especially lovely.

I love adding extra ornaments in bowls too for shimmer and shine. I use a mix of gold and silver metallics and it really sparkles at night.

Simple and sparkly with candlelight. Fresh greens from our  yard.

My sister passed that swag to me and it fits in nicely with my things. I don’t buy all new stuff every year, but love  bringing out my tried and true Christmas decor arsenal.

Moving to the family room, I did a simple mantel with my Merry Christmas sign (It’s from Between You and Me Signs) and I left my mirror in place and added candles and faux pine trees.

Candlesticks on the mantel from At Home. I love the mix of these garlands. The evergreen is from (affiliate link) Michaels and the faux eucalyptus is from Amazon.

I don’t change out my pillows in here for every season, but it’s a cozy spot at night with the fireplace on.

Next door is the little sitting room off the kitchen. I enjoy adding Christmas cheer to the shelves.

I’ve had all these red and green things for many years too and they add a lot of color to the shelves.

Throw and pillow from At Home this year and I love the addition here on the blue chair.

We pulled out this cute vintage ceramic Christmas tree that he got from his mom and I love it on the kitchen bar. I set it on a round vintage tray, added faux snow and some little village people and it’s so cute.

This little tree gives me a lot of joy this year. I also have my front porch linked as well as the colorful Christmas tree and dining room decor, so go and check those out for more of our home!

Don’t miss Cassie Bustamante, who’s next on the tour. She has a pretty style you’ll enjoy! There has been a whole week of tours, so enjoy going through them all.

Your entryway is my favorite this year (I had to buy those bells through your link a few years ago!). Amy and I just passed our tenth blogging anniversary and you are right that so much has changed! You were one of the first bloggers we met and it’s so nice to still count you among our friends. Merry Christmas to you and Mark!

Rhoda, your home is always decorated with the wonderful collections you’ve amassed over the years. I especially love your mercury glass collection. You and Mark have truly turned your home into a showplace. Love the new molding in the entry. The fireplace is so pretty and I love the idea of using the two different garlands, they look amazing together. Your home is always decorated so beautifully. Thanks so much for joining the tours again this season and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Merry Christmas, love you’re genuine style. I usually pick up tips and appreciate that most of your decorations aren’t new. So fun to remember when a holiday decoration was purchased and I can enjoy the memory again and again.

Everything is gorgeous! And looking forward to seeing your completed project. Every time I hear the song or read a sign that says, “Have yourself a merry little Christmas”, I think of my late husband…..he was a Methodist minister and would always remark, “there is nothing little about Christmas”!

Carol, he was right about that! The most impactful & important moment in history was Christ’s birth.

    Merry Christmas,
Your house is lovely and even more so decorated for Christmas. The sign by the stairway, “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him,” did you make it? I would love to make one like it or perhaps purchase it. Hope your mom and dad are doing well. I have enjoyed getting to know them a little through your posts. Your dad is a really handy guy and your mama reminds me of my grandma.

So beautiful, Rhoda. I can’t pick a favorite area in your home. It is all so lovely. I did get some personal inspiration: I have shutters like yours on your mantle and you have inspired me to use them on my mantle. Things really have changed in the blogging world. I used to read so many, but in the past year, I am finding it easier to navigate through YouTube videos. When I do pull up some blogs, often the ads don’t play well with my Mac computer and I get frustrated. Thank you for having your ads placed in such a way that they don’t interfere and reading and viewing the blog text and pics is an enjoyable experience and I can scroll down without everything freezing. Merry Christmas to your beautiful family!

Thank you, Melanie, I’m so glad to hear that. I do get some complaints about the ads, but I try to keep everything readable.

Great post Rhoda and love your stories and photos. (Love that coat you have on there too) I have a friend who just moved out to Hoschton, GA. She said it was a challenge to find furniture for the big house. I posted this to our page so she might see it and be able to enjoy some of your great posts and all your great ideas. Have a wonderful Christmas and Blessings for the new year your way. -Adele.
