Christmas Home Tour: Mantel Kitchen & More

Hi friends, thank you so much for stopping by my home today! My heart is definitely tender as we just lost my mom yesterday, but I’m still going to participate in this blog tour today. This is a yearly Christmas blog tour hosted by my friend, Marty with A Stroll Thru Life. Please visit her home. She is going through some health issues and had to drop out of hosting this year, but this all started with her. You can find all the links for all the home tours at the end of my post, so please don’t miss them and visit as many as you can.

If you are stopping by from Lynne at My Family Thyme, welcome! I’ll be checking out her Christmas home as well and I know you enjoyed. There are such lovely homes on the tour, so be sure to visit, you are sure to be inspired.

If you missed Part One of my Christmas tour, you can see the tree, foyer and dining room on that link. We get pretty festive around here and love color!

Our family room always gets a mantel decking for Christmas and it’s one of my favorite ones yet.

I found some pretty icicle garland at a local shop and enjoyed adding it to my garlands I already had. Adding my blue and white to the mix was a fun addition this year.

These gold sconces are new this year too, they are rechargeable and I love having them flanking the fireplace. They add some light and ambience, but during Christmas I’ll probably keep them off because we love the glow of the Christmas lights so much. I loved adding some greenery and ribbon to the sconces.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas. It’s a great sentiment this time of year. The orange slice picks are new this year too and I found them at a local consignment shop. I love the addition and they add a bit of color too. That ribbon was an Etsy find.  Here is an icicle garland I found online that is similar to mine. I have 2 on my mantel, I think they were 5 or 6′ long.

All in all, this is one of my favorite Christmas mantels I’ve ever done and it really feels festive to me this year.

I love the blue and white mixed with the festive ribbon too!

Blue and white really mixes in well with Christmas.

In the kitchen, as always I add some traditional red and green pieces to my kitchen shelves.

It’s fun to add a few things that are cheery and festive.

Red, white and green is such a good mix for Christmas and I have plenty to use.

Some of this is Mark’s collected Christmas and some is mine. Those cookie jars and the snow globe are his and I love that we can mix all of our collections together.

This pretty ceramic Christmas tree came from his mother after she stopped using it and I love it here with some village people around the base on snow.

Our sweet Daisy girl steals the show!

Thank you so much for stopping by and celebrating Christmas with us. And please stop by next and see Jennifer with . Clean and Sensible. I know you’ll be inspired by her home and all the others that are so beautifully decorated.

Loving all your Christmasy details in your home! Your mantel is a scroll stopper. Love your ceramic tree too: it brings back memories of my grandmother’s home. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Catching up with your blog, and learning about the passing of your mom. Yes, tears spilled as I read your words. Having lost my mother 11 years ago, I sympathize with your loss and yet the wonderful peace of knowing that death has brought release from the chains of suffering and she has received the gift of eternal life with her Savior and Lord and the maker of Heaven and Earth – greeted with the words ‘Well done my good and faithful servant!’ Take heart in that and allow yourself grief intermingled with hope. Merry Christmas to my favorite blogger.

Rhoda, my heart goes out to you as you have lost your precious Mom. I know your heart is aching. It is so hard to have to say good-bye to a precious Mom — no matter how prepared you are. Your Mom was loved, so much, by all of us as you so faithfully shared her with us. Thanks for doing this, Rhoda. I know you will really miss her. She is “home” at last with her Lord whom she loved and was so faithful in serving all these years. How great to know that you will meet her again. We will continue to keep your dear Dad in our prayers. That was such a beautiful picture you shared with us of your Mom and Dad hugging one another — just precious! Your dear Mom just needed that one special hug! We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers, too. This is a hard time for you all as you mourn the loss of your precious Mom. I pray that you will feel God’s comforting arms wrapped around you in the coming days.

Oh dear God, I am so sorry to hear about your mother passing. I lost my mother a few years back and I still miss her terribly, she was my best friend and we talked for hours every day on the phone. I will pray that God will ease your pain and hold you in his arms and comfort you.
I want to say I love your blog, and I especially love the blue color you used in your living room. And the blue throw on your sofa matches so perfectly, I have tried to find one like it, but so far no luck.

Thank you so much, Patrice, it’s been a year now since we lost mom. We sure do miss her, but her physical body was just worn out.
