Christmas Preview

It is already October and look how fast the Summer has flown by.  That means that Christmas is just around the corner.  In just over 3 months, that wonderful Holiday that we all love, will be here once again!  Can you believe that?  I can’t.

Recently, I met up at a wholesale silk warehouse here in Birmingham,  with a few of the ladies who are going to be involved in the Holiday House.  We had so much fun looking around at all the new Christmas items that are just coming in.  I met a new decorator friend who told us about this place and I’m so glad I checked it out.  The ladies who run it are so nice and friendly.  It’s called Silk in Design and is located in downtown Birmingham.  It’s open to everyone, but if you’re a business owner with tax ID, you can buy at wholesale.

They have really high quality silks and dried material and their designers can whip up arrangements for any occasion.

IMG_6306

I had fun just walking around looking at all the vignettes.

IMG_6307

They are getting ready for Christmas and had some things out already, but not everything was finished yet.

IMG_6308

Look at the selection of Christmas ribbon.  Oh my gosh, was it ever pretty.

IMG_6309

Lots of colors and styles.

IMG_6310

Mercury glass

IMG_6311

Large florals in urns flank a mirror.

IMG_6312

Some pretty vignettes.

IMG_6314

More pretties, they even have some accessories and furniture pieces.

IMG_6315

Big Santa

IMG_6316

More accessories and vignettes.

IMG_6317

Large floral arrangement.  I’m getting away from all the huge floral arrangements in my own house for a more simple look, but they are still very pretty.

IMG_6318

Another Santa.

IMG_6319

A table of glass.

IMG_6320

A few trees were up and lit.

IMG_6321

Large iron tree with hanging votive candles.

IMG_6322

And I even spied a bunny!

IMG_6323

Another floral.

The area upstairs is all used items and they had lots of stuff that was on sale. I did find these 2 pretty faux paperwhites for $8 each and I love the lime green and red berries around the clear glass base.  They really do look real and I’m sure I can find some place to use these in my Christmas decorating.

IMG_6425

And this pretty white pear on a wooden base was around $7.50.  It’s  about 6″ high and really pretty. You may have spotted this beauty in my guest bath redo on the counter.

If any of you Birmingham girls get a chance to visit Silk in Design, I’d highly recommend it.  Fun place to shop!

Speaking of Christmas, this is official notice that I’ll be hosting a Christmas tour of homes this year right here at Southern Hospitality.  There are many big blogs that do that every year, but since my own has grown so much and I love to decorate for Christmas, I’m having one here!  I did one last year at the last minute, but it’s official this year.  I’ll be getting a button made, so that you can share and plan ahead and when I get a date set, I’ll let you know! It will be a big party!  If you haven’t been around for a Christmas in blogland, you’re in for a treat.

Everything looks yummilicious, Rhoda! Those wreaths! WOW!

Evergreen (at the lake) is having it’s Christmas open house the first weekend of November. I may stop in this week and have a look around, while we are there. I know Jason has started working on the showroom. Can’t wait!

Rhoda – I am so excited about Christmas! I adore that second green Santa. We are on the local Christmas House Tour this year and I am gathering ideas as quick as the squirrels are gathering nuts this year.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Oh. My. Word.

I don’t live in AL. I’ve never lived in AL. I don’t live anywhere *close* to AL. And yet…I want to go there, take all of that mercury glass into a big baskety cart thing…roll after roll of ribbon…and then hit the upstairs.

AHHHHHhhhhHHH. I know that there have to be places like this in OK…I know it.

I will now stick my fingers in my ears and do a “lalalalalala” thing…I can’t even think about Christmas with the fall garden going in right now! LOL

Thanks for sharing the pics from your day, Rhoda. I really enjoy seeing what is going on elsewhere, even if I can’t do it myself (in spite of the “lalala”s, LOL)

Those Seuss-inspired trees at the top of the post are THE CUTEST, Rhoda! I’ve already started thinking about how I’m going to decorated for Christmas, too. It’s never too early, right? 🙂
