Christmas Preview

It is already October and look how fast the Summer has flown by.  That means that Christmas is just around the corner.  In just over 3 months, that wonderful Holiday that we all love, will be here once again!  Can you believe that?  I can’t.

Recently, I met up at a wholesale silk warehouse here in Birmingham,  with a few of the ladies who are going to be involved in the Holiday House.  We had so much fun looking around at all the new Christmas items that are just coming in.  I met a new decorator friend who told us about this place and I’m so glad I checked it out.  The ladies who run it are so nice and friendly.  It’s called Silk in Design and is located in downtown Birmingham.  It’s open to everyone, but if you’re a business owner with tax ID, you can buy at wholesale.

IMG_6305

They have really high quality silks and dried material and their designers can whip up arrangements for any occasion.

IMG_6306

I had fun just walking around looking at all the vignettes.

IMG_6307

They are getting ready for Christmas and had some things out already, but not everything was finished yet.

IMG_6308

Look at the selection of Christmas ribbon.  Oh my gosh, was it ever pretty.

IMG_6309

Lots of colors and styles.

IMG_6310

Mercury glass

IMG_6311

Large florals in urns flank a mirror.

IMG_6312

Some pretty vignettes.

IMG_6314

More pretties, they even have some accessories and furniture pieces.

IMG_6315

Big Santa

IMG_6316

More accessories and vignettes.

IMG_6317

Large floral arrangement.  I’m getting away from all the huge floral arrangements in my own house for a more simple look, but they are still very pretty.

IMG_6318

Another Santa.

IMG_6319

A table of glass.

IMG_6320

A few trees were up and lit.

IMG_6321

Large iron tree with hanging votive candles.

IMG_6322

And I even spied a bunny!

IMG_6323

Another floral.

IMG_6423

The area upstairs is all used items and they had lots of stuff that was on sale. I did find these 2 pretty faux paperwhites for $8 each and I love the lime green and red berries around the clear glass base.  They really do look real and I’m sure I can find some place to use these in my Christmas decorating.

IMG_6425

And this pretty white pear on a wooden base was around $7.50.  It’s  about 6″ high and really pretty. You may have spotted this beauty in my guest bath redo on the counter.

If any of you Birmingham girls get a chance to visit Silk in Design, I’d highly recommend it.  Fun place to shop!

Speaking of Christmas, this is official notice that I’ll be hosting a Christmas tour of homes this year right here at Southern Hospitality.  There are many big blogs that do that every year, but since my own has grown so much and I love to decorate for Christmas, I’m having one here!  I did one last year at the last minute, but it’s official this year.  I’ll be getting a button made, so that you can share and plan ahead and when I get a date set, I’ll let you know! It will be a big party!  If you haven’t been around for a Christmas in blogland, you’re in for a treat.

Rhoda! I’ve barely started on my fall decorating! Aaach! Time is flying by!! Normally, I am very on top of the fall decor, because it is a favorite season of mine. This fall has been so busy that…well… Can I just keep up my summer stuff until next year? I’ll just be ahead of the game, right?

    Hi Rhoda,
Looks like a fun store to visit. I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner. Up here in Canada we celebrate our Thanksgiving next weekend and I can’t believe that has already arrived. I’m still trying to get my fall decorating finished. Yikes, where does the time go? TFS! Sheila

It’s so nice to see someone else getting excited for Christmas! I will hopefully be moved into an as yet unknown new home and despite the upheaval of moving, I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas! It all looked beautiful! Have to say, I have a soft spot for the bunny the best!

Rhoda, Beauitiful Christmas decor. Can’t wait to see the Christmas house. Did you recognize the bunny plates, in the vignette with the bunny, they are exactly like the 4 I picked up at the GW. I remember you commented on them on my thrifty finds post a while back. I paid $.99 a piece for them and have decided that you need to have them. I really don’t need them and I think they would look awesome in your home somewhere. let me know where to send Okay. No argument they were meant for you. Marla

I can’t believe you found the bunny. 🙂 I loved all the ribbon…that especially felt like Christmas for me. It’s my absolute favorite holiday, but I don’t think I’m ready to think too much about it yet…I still have to finish decorating for Fall!

I was new to blogging last year, so this Christmas will be a treat for me. 🙂

Rhoda, I will have to check this place out! My daughter lives in B’ham and I live a few minutes away. This is on my list of places to visit. I will have to go to the show house this year at Christmas and see the room you are helping with!
