Coffee Table Revamp & Kilz Primer Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

I’ve been helping my friend, Vicki, with a few updates around her house and first up is that coffee table that we found down in Port St. Joe for the sweet price of $22.  I noted that it was a solid wood table and would look great painted creamy white, so Vicki bought it and hauled it home.

It was a perfect candidate for a makeover.  That blah wood was begging for a revamp and Vicki wanted to go in a creamy white cottage direction with this table with potential.

We used the same Kilz Clean Start that I used on the porch walls and gave this table a fresh coat, getting it ready for 2 coats of creamy white. The fine folks at Kilz contacted me awhile ago and offered to send me a gallon of their Clean Start primer, so I of course, said YES!

We got a sample quart of Sherwin Williams Antique White to use as the main color.

After a coat of primer and 1 coat of Antique White, she looks like a new table already.painting and distressing a coffee table

After 2 coats, we were ready to start sanding back the edges for a distressed look. painting and distressing a coffee table

I didn’t have my electric sander with me and we ran out of sandpaper, but managed to get some of it done.  painting and distressing a coffee table

It’s a really cute table now and will be perfect for her family room.  I’ll show you more in there as we get moving along on it.  Not bad for $22 and some paint!

Here’s some fun news too for ONE of you!  Kilz offered to give away to one of my readers, a gallon of Kilz Clean Start of your very own to try out.  What can you do with a gallon of Kilz?  This stuff is great for walls or furniture, so the sky’s the limit.

All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post, telling me just what project you’d like to try out with Kilz Clean Start?

I’ll choose a winner in a few days and you will receive your very own gallon of primer.  You gotta love that!  Thanks, Kilz!

    Very nice! I’ve always been a little afraid of painting furniture — afraid I’ll get started and find out I have no talent for it. But after seeing all the blogs about it I bought a little rocking chair at a flea market that I want to try to redo. Thanks for the opportunity to win the Kilz!

    I actually have an old coffee table that I want to turn into a bench for my daughter’s room. It’s very dark and has some water damage on the surface, but it’s very sturdy and has lots of fun details in the woodwork. Thanks for the chance to win!

    I just bought an oak jewelry armoire from the sweetest couple who were newly retired and downsizing (into an R.V.!). I plan to paint it and make it fabulous, but I need an uber primer to cover up that oak. Kilz is my primer of choice and I would LOVE to try this new formula!
