Don’t we all get in a quandary at times when it comes to choosing paint colors?
Even those of us who have been doing this paint and decorating thing for a long, long time still sometimes get stuck in indecision and how to find the perfect paint for that new room project. I’ve gotten better at it over the years, but how great would it be to have a helper along the way?
Glidden and My Colortopia have come up with a fun online tool, My Image Inspiration, that will help with paint choices. You can upload a photo of something that you love – it can be anything – and their amazing little tool will instantly come up with color palettes for you to work with. Mixing those colors is another way to get an interesting and layered look to your room.
I thought using a nature pic would be fun to see, so I uploaded a pretty stream pic with pure colors of nature, water, moss, trees and it came up with the neutral palette above. Wouldn’t a room with these colors be soothing? Just like being outdoors. You can then click on each color and the tool will bring up additional colors to add to the mix. Love it!
I also thought it would be fun to use a pic with more colors, so I used a photo I took at a fabric store, with more saturated colors. It did find all the colors and gave me a nice selection of paints to choose from. Not as vibrant as the fabrics, but a good color palette to work with. Besides, who wants bright Crayon colors on the walls? It’s best to keep those walls muted, in my opinion. These are all nice and soothing paint choices that I would definitely be happy with.
If you need some new ideas on choosing paint colors, I hope you’ll check out Glidden’s fun website, full of color inspiration, My Colortopia! There are a great group of blogger friends offering lots of fun ideas for decorating and choosing color.
I shared the personality quiz widget a few weeks ago on this post and you can also find the widget on the My Colortopia, website. It takes your answers and brings up a fun color palette, based on your personality and interests.
Mine was pretty much spot-on, as these colors would definitely be colors I could live with and wrap myself up in. Lighter greens and blues are definitely on my radar these days.
I hope you’ll go over to My Colortopia and play around with the My Inspirations tool and see what you think. I’d love to hear what color palette YOU come up with too!
