The Winner is: #208 Lorene Halfmann
January is an excellent time to be thinking about organization and it happens every year after Christmas. We all start thinking of ways to declutter and get everything in the house in tip-top shape.
You saw the pretty stencil yesterday and today, I’m going to show you the mostly finished room. The wall really does add a soft and subtle backdrop to the furniture in the space. My sister has been shopping on Craigslist, Home Decorators Collection, and with my new collaboration with Lowes, I was able to spend $100 Lowes card on helping her get this space organized.
Oh, what fun! Just for reference, the wall color is the same SW Comfort Gray that we used in her master bath.
Come along and I’ll show you where we are. We were hoping to get this table and chairs painted, but we didn’t get that finished yet. The table and chairs are a Craigslist find for $100. We are planning to paint it a fun Barcelona Orange color in Annie Sloan Chalkpaint. Won’t that be happy down here?
You can see how big the space is in their basement. Really a nice room to use for this. That’s my black bookcase and chair to the right.
Rug was ordered online.
That’s my brown leather sofa too that she is keeping safe for me. Those mirrored closet doors hold all her stacked Christmas bins neatly away. She has so much great storage at her house.
And she’s keeping my island for me too. Lauren painted that cute fleur-de-lis painting.
Here are the really fun organizing pieces she added. The Martha Stewart piece on the left came from Home Decorator’s Collection and she is going to enjoy using that for her wrapping paper and ribbon. The cute cube storage is what we found at Lowes. It came in a box and we put it all together ourselves. It was a bit like Lucy and Ethel do Tool Time, but we made it through. Those fabric storage drawers are great for hiding the clutter and they came from Lowes as well.
We also found these pretty rattan baskets at Lowes and they are another great option for hiding the clutter. Pretty and functional, you gotta love that! Check out Lowes Creative Ideas website for lots of great ideas.
She’s going to really have fun with all this organization at her fingertips.
She also found that pretty bookcase on Craigslist for $75. That’s a deal, I love it.
So, are you doing some organization yourself this month? Did you feel the unmistakable pull of de-cluttering like everyone does this month? It seems that the first of the year is the optimal time to start the year off right and start putting “stuff” in its place.
If you are ready to organize and declutter, now’s a great time for YOU to get in on the fun too. Lowes is offering a $100 giftcard for one of you to spend at your local Lowes store. You can grab whatever your heart desires!
Follow Lowes on their Facebook page too!
All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me what you “think” you might buy if you are the fortunate winner of this $100 giftcard?

{I am partnered with Lowes Creative Ideas blog team to do DIY projects and share them on my blog. I was given a $100 giftcard to purchase products from Lowes.}

Does $100 worth of paint count? I truly think that is what I would get! Then everything I (already) own would look new! 😀
Hi Rhoda,
I would buy paint for my kitchen/dining room and with money left over maybe a wooden dryrack for all those clothes that get slung over the dining room chair 🙂
Hmmmm, what would I buy at Lowe’s??? LIGHTING! I need something to replace the flourescent light in my kitchen. Love your blog! ~ Pam
I recently signed up for ‘My Lowes’ and am liking that. $100 for me would go toward paint and plants for the yard. Thanks for the opportunity and I love the craft/wrapping area for your sister.
I would buy some pretty plants for the yard this spring or some supplies for my hubby to build a entryway mudroom.
Well, thanks for asking what I would do, since today, a contractor is coming to give me an estimate on replacing a leaky tub in my only, tiny bathroom. That gift card would get spent in a New York minute! Hope I win, every little bit will help.
Love the basement, by the way.
I would buy paint and supplies I am just starting my master bedroom re-do. I love your stenciling!! thanks again for the fun giveaway. Beth N.
I love organizing and being organized. I’d concentrate on my sewing room/studio. I’m always trying to keep the chaos contained in there!
i would purchase a 4 shelf book case to go in my kitchen for storage which my kitchen is sadly lacking
I would head over to Lowe’s to snag some shelving and baskets. I’ve joined the January “urge to purge” club and now I’m in need of some great looking ways to organize all of my essential craft supplies. Thanks for the opportunity!
I would probably get things to put plants in for the porch and the plants to put in them.
Dear Rhoda:
I LOVE your blog! If I were fortunate enough to win a $100.00 Lowe’s gift card, I would definitely put it towards a cube storage unit. I have wanted one of these for quite some time. My four children are older now, and their little ponies/hot wheels cars have been replaced by ipods, keys, work badges, mail, etc. which find their way onto the kitchen table. I’d love a cubby storage unit to give each of them a drawer for their suff. Thanks!!
I would buy lighting.
Paint, a new ceiling light fixture and some wall hooks would smarten up my craft room significantly. Thanks for posting this!
What a great space! I love it! I could do some serious organization work with a Lowe’s gift card! Great giveaway!
I need some pretty storage options and those baskets from Lowes might be just the ticket. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would buy some of those great baskets for storage.
With $100.00, I would buy some paint, and the supplies to go with it to paint a bathroom. I would also buy some new cleaning supplies, like broom, mop, bucket, etc. If I had anything left, I would look for a new lamp for my nightstand. I could really use a new (good) one to read by.
Wow, she has a big, beautiful room!
It’s not fancy, but I’d spend the $100 on oil based primer and paint — I’ve got some panelling that really would be happier white. 🙂
Thanks for the chance!
Love the wrapping paper organizer! What would I buy……either lighting or paint or ceiling fan. There are many projects around this place that $100 would be useful for. Great job on the room Rhoda!
