When I started this blog, I had no idea of the opportunities and blessings that would come to me and my family as a result. Â A recent landing in my inbox produced one of those blessings for my very special daddy and I’m so grateful to be able to share this with him.
A few weeks ago, I got an email in my inbox from Troybilt. They had found my blog, sharing my dad’s garden and showing him in his garden, with his old tried and true friend, his Troybilt tiller. Â He’s had it for about 20 years now and it’s still going strong. Â It helps him with his gardening so much.
This would be the picture that captured the folks from Troybilt.
Then, in the email I was asked if my dad might like to get a new Troybilt tiller for his garden, the Bronco? Â Ummm yes, I was absolutely sure my dad would like that idea.
When I went over the next day and told him about this fortuitous offer, you should have seen the look on his face. Â Troybilt is going to give ME a new tiller? Â Yes, indeed, they are. Â For the next few days, it was like waiting for the lottery and as I got updates on the delivery of his new tiller, it was like he was waiting for Santa himself. Â He could hardly wait until it was delivered to his house.

This nice man, Wade, showed up at their house one morning and delivered my dad’s brand new Troybilt Bronco tiller. Â It’s smaller than his old beast and has vertical tines which are supposed to really break up the dirt.

He and Wade took at look at how it all worked, got it set up with oil and gas and started it to see how it all sounds.

And took it back to the garden. Â It’s been raining a lot lately and then my dad took off for over a week to their NC mountain house, but when he gets back, he’ll be putting it to good use in his garden. Â This will really come in handy helping him keep his garden free from weeds in between the rows, since it is much narrower than his old one.

He was smiling from ear to ear and it thrilled me to have this happen for him. Â That my blog has opened so many amazing doors is still such a blessing to me and my family.

Dad’s old 20 year old TroyBilt tiller on the left and the new one on the right. He will keep them both and they will both help him continue to garden for who knows how long. We keep thinking he might slow down, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Â He still gets excited about gardening, every single year.

And the garden is rewarding him for all that hard work. Â Soon, he’ll be picking squash, beans, and tomatoes.

Mom is right there with him too. Â You can see lots of things growing and coming along just fine with all the rain we are having.

I spotted one tomato already. Â Can’t wait for those to come in!

Had to show you these beautiful oak leaf hydrangeas in their backyard. Â They are so pretty, I’m going to bring a couple of baby plants to my house.
I knew you would all get a kick out of this story too and I sincerely thank the folks at TroyBilt for making my dad’s year by giving him this new tiller. Â He is so thrilled and excited and will be a TroyBilt fan for life! Â I’ll be sure and share more about the tiller along the way this summer.

I can only imagine how excited you were to be in the position of having such a blessing given to your Dad through the path that God has opened up for you in your life! Through all the posts that you’ve made including not just your dad, but both of your parents, one can see how special they are to you. How precious that you could be a part of something so exciting in his life!
Oh , Rhoda. What a story. Love it so much
I’m with you on this Carole. It made my morning.
Loved this story!! I love that your dad is still so active and enjoys his garden so much. What a blessing to be gifted with a new tiller. However, I have to tell you, my almost 97 year old mother’s famous saying when we try to “update” something of hers is “the old one works just fine”. LOL Hence why she prefers her 40 year old filter queen vacuum cleaner!!
What a fantastic story! Could not have happened to a better man! Your Dad is precious!
Oh how sweet! What a wonderful surprise and so deserving. So happy for your Dad!!!
What a wonderful story and your sweet Daddy’s smile says it all. He deserves it!
What a wonderful blessing. He deserves it and so much more!
I am so happy for your dad! I love your updates about him, your mom, and their garden.
I think that is fabulous! Troybuilt must not only make great long lasting tillers, but also be a company with a good heart!
now that is a real blessing, what a great company! really enjoy the stories about your Mom and Dad – they seem like great folks; ‘m very happy for them : )
Rhoda, I am so happy your dad got a gift. Please post a how-to when you get to the oak leaf. I have an oak leaf I want to get some cuttings started elsewhere. Love your family.
That look on your Dad’s face says it all. Can’t think of anyone that deserves it more. Please tell your Dad I am on my second year garden because of him. So far I planted tomatoes, cauliflower, green peppers, squash and some dill. I already have other herbs growing in our dining room. I never had the courage to try a garden but after reading about your Dad I figured why not. I still want to plant some more things but we’ll see. Please tell him I said thanks!
HI, Patty, I sure will tell him, that’s great that he inspired your garden. That makes me so happy!
Your daddy looks so much like my daddy. From your previous blogs I can tell his personality would also match up to my sweet daddy.
Your post today brought tears to my eyes as I thought of my daddy. He’s been gone from this earth almost 3 years now. I still miss him so much. So, give your daddy a big hug.
Thanks for sharing today. What a great story!
That smile says it all.
Thrilled for your dad! What a blessing indeed.
This makes me so incredibly happy I have no words. I am so glad your dad got the rock star treatment! 🙂
Love that your daddy and mom are still gardening strong! What fun that they got a surprise gift as a result of your blog!
Wow, Rhoda, I got all teary when I read this, just imagining how my dad would have reacted to such an unepected windfall.
Kudos to Troybilt for reaching out to you and finding a new avenue for marketing their products. Your dad wuld make an outstanding non-celebrity spokesmodel for them (hint hint)!! Can you just picture him on TV with that lovely southern drawl, toiling and tilling away in his garden for the cameras?
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people . . . .
What a nice gift for your Daddy from Troybilt. He will get so much use out of this. I bet he can’t wait to get home and play with his new toy.
So very sweet, both your dad and Troybuilt!
Blessings,
Cindy
