{Giveaway Ended} Â The Winner is #114, Esther. Â
Once again, I’m back with another blogger friend book. My friend, Wendy Hyde, of The Shabby Nest, has written a fun and inspiring decorating book, Decorating for Real Life. It shows real life homes and gives ideas on how to make your home better with a few changes.
With practical real-life ideas for decorating, you are sure to be inspired in your own home. From space planning, color planning, to decor style, she covers the bases for a beautiful home.
Each real life home feature asks these questions:
What does this space say?
What makes this space family friendly?
What fears need to be overcome?
What compromise is required?
Then a method to Borrow these Ideas and bring them to your own home.
Great news for ONE of my readers!
Wendy and her publisher are giving away a copy of Decorating for Real Life, for one of my readers. Â All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post, in the Comments below and tell me…

My guest room for grandkids is a work in progress.
My living room dining and kitchen area!!!
The entire house is in need of design.
I am so glad I found your site. We moved from Georgia five yrs. ago to IL. Still love the southern way of decorating. Thanks for being there.
I want it! I want it. I want it.
After my dad passed away last August, my mom has been spending weekends with us. The guest room she uses is still in the same condition as when we moved in 3 years ago — no draperies, no rug, no art, no warmth. THIS is the room I need to make over!!
This looks like a great book. Can’t wait to see more. thank you for this post.
I love my home, BUT we’ve lived in it 45 years and it could use some updating. I need help making things fresh without giving up furnishings that mean so much to me, many inherited from my Grand Mothers. I know I should “edit” things and I try, but it is really hard to do.
My master bath needs some help! I painted it dark brown and installed a new light fixture. I’m not sure I like the dark brown. I need to make up my mind and then tackle the expensive projects like new countertop, tub, shower, toilet and flooring – yea haw!!
Getting ready for a life change and move. The neglected guest room could use some help.
Would love a copy of this book!
My bedroom, it’s blah and boring.
My master bedroom
My living/family room could use some help. I live in an old house and it is one long room and I’ve struggled to figure out how to set it up!
Our home has am “open floor plan” in the downstairs. Of our breakfast room, den, living and dining rooms, our breakfast room needs the most help!
My formal living room is a challenge. While large (20 x 22), it has an opening on every wall. The fireplace is off-centered and is a fabulous focal point. Competing for focal point space is the 72″ television complex that takes up the only wall large enough to accommodate it. The room is paneled, which we like, so don’t want to paint, and is in the interior of the house so it is dark. We do intend to add a skylight to bring in light, but the furniture placement is a challenge to take advantage of the fireplace, view the television in comfort and not block doorways too dramatically. ARGH!
Oh for sure it would be my living room, wow, it has 3 interior doorways, 1 exterior door, a floor to ceiling window and a rock fireplace with floor space of about 400 square feet. We find it very hard to place furniture and art. The room has cathedral ceilings and 2 skylights. I have often thought about writing to a TV show and beg for help. I follow you on Facebook, you and your parents are so inspirational! We are getting ready to cook the down home southern New Years day fare. Happy New Year to You and Yours! Pam
My whole house needs a redesign, but I would settle for the dining room!
My scrapbook and craft space needs some organization and decorating! It’s a real-life, always messy space.
My family room is always a work in progress. I just can’t seem to get it write.
