I’m circling back around to a couple of weeks ago when I did the antique shopping trip with Kevin and Layla, for their HGTV pilot show! It was an exciting time. I tagged along, with some other bloggers and readers and we scoured the antique mall in search of a few things for the makeover.
Come on along with us!
Their producer, Patrick, was there telling us all what we were going to do. We broke up into groups and took off down the aisles.
Some of the bloggers and readers who showed up for the shopping trip. It was fun to see them all too. The production staff was there too.
Kevin and Layla getting ready for shopping. We were specifically looking for an anniversary gift for the couple, their 1st.
Here we go!
Kevin, Shaunna, and I took off to one side of the store and the other group went the other way with Layla. Here’s a little video I did of the 3 of us!
I spied some fun things to take a pic of, like this old typewriter. My family used to have one very similar to this one.
Kevin was videoing too.
We found plenty to catch our eye, Sugah and Darlin! That’s how we greet you in the South, you know?! 🙂
Loved this little table!
This pretty burnished gold table was only $22 and I thought it was a steal.
We looked at one possible candidate for a side table, but this one wasn’t it.
Layla checking out the Halloween stuff. Those book pages again!
Haven’t we seen a ton of crafts made out of old books? yep, we have!
There are plenty of pretty things to look at in Queen of Hearts and I have one on my side of town too.
Here’s the side table that ultimately went home for the makeover and I think it was $65, not bad.
I spied this cute old vintage slide box and that is what they decided on for the anniversary gift. It looked great in the room as a memory box.
There’s all the loot that Layla found.
Along with these 2 big acorn thingies. You can see them in her Fall mantel post this year. So cute!
{Layla, me and Kevin}
These are 2 of my favorite people and I’m so happy that we all got to meet in blogland. I wish them GREAT success with the show and I have a feeling it will be on the air and we’ll all be cheering them on!
They got to drive around in this vintage ’72 Chevy Blazer during the shoot, rented for the week from another blogger (Charity) and it was so perfect for them.
Congrats, Kevin and Layla!!

Rhoda:
Thank you for your last post regarding the Anthropologie on Howell Mill Road. (I usually shop the Perimeter store, and didn’t even know it was there!) I had a few people that I needed a little something for and nothing is more appropriate, for those kind of gifts, than the Mrs. Mug from Anthro. My sweet husband gladly accompanied me because I promised him that we’d go to Figo based on your recommendation, and we were not disappointed.
We noticed, on the way that there is also a Flip Burger on Howell Mill. Have you been, and do I remember, correctly, that you had been to the one in Birmingham. If yes, would you recommend we try it?
Thanks for the inspiration that provided us with a new adventure on a gorgeous Georgia Saturday!

Hey, Destiny! Nothing makes me happier than ya’ll trying out something I post, like a shopping trip or restaurant. Thanks for taking the time to tell me! Didn’t you love that Anthropologie?? I’m so glad you tried Figo, it is my new fave casual Italian restaurant in ATL. Love it! Howell Mill Rd. has some great shopping stops, so I hope to share more. so glad you got out there.
I have been to Flip in B’ham & yes, did like it a lot. It’s a little pricey, but I thought the food was good. But, then again I love Five Guys burgers probably equally as well too & it’s not haute hamburgers! 🙂

Thanks for the post. Looks like y’all had fun. I think y’all do a better job of finding things at antique stores than I do!

The entire process looks like it was a blast, and then to throw in antique mall shopping- be still my antique lovin’ heart! I had to look twice at the $22 price tag- steal & deal of the day! Of course my eyes locked in on the crown sitting on the counter. I can’t keep those in the shop, especially at Mardi Gras time. Hope all is a go for Layla & Kevin. I’m sure you had a wonderful, memorable, and exhausting time. Creating is hard work!
