When Eddie Ross came to Atlanta, during our blogger’s dinner, he gave us all the scoop about his next big project coming up: namely he was chosen by Margaret Russell with Elle Decor to represent them in the Big Window Challenge at Bloomingdale’s in NY between Bloomingdale’s, Apartment Therapy and Elle Decor. The window is completed and now the voting begins!
Take a look at what Eddie came up with for this challenge and I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. That would certainly get your attention as you were walking or driving by. Eddie has fabulous ideas and executes them perfectly. His room was designed around “The Modern Woman, a media mogul, wife and mother.

Eddie’s abbreviated description of the room:
The signature space shimmers with a mix of classic and modern, new and old, together with a balance of bold patterns and vibrant colors. A spatter-paint print, like stars in an endless sky, reflects the owner’s love of travel to wide-open spaces, and her passion for sparkling evenings at home entertaining friends and family.
It’s quite colorful and very fun to look at. Love it, Eddie! I can just imagine everyone pressing their noses up to the windows and taking it all in at Bloomingdale’s.
Eddie really goes into detail about The Modern Woman inspiration over at his blog, so take a look there if you’d like to read the whole story. Eddie can spin a story much better than I can.
Eddie’s talent with styling flat surfaces just amazes me. He’s tops at that! Those are vintage Italian brass flowers in the silver vase to the left.
Lots of details to take in in this room.
Another vintage chair with a beautiful pop of color against the blue spattered walls.
Our Modern Woman has kicked off her shoes for the day and relaxing for an evening of flipping through the latest magazines that were waiting for her at home. Now, that I can relate to!
Even if you can’t see yourself living in a room like this, I think it’s a very fun room to take in and enjoy all the colorful elements that make it up.

Hi Rhoda- I have loved your blog and have read it every day for 2 years now. I love it! I respected your very creative ideas- I am a home stager and interior designer, and would learn many tricks from you to use with my own clients! I am also an avid yard saler and trash to treasure maker.

All of us at ELLE DECOR thank you for your support of Eddie’s room for the Bloomingdale’s window challenge, Rhoda.
Eddie and Jaithan worked tirelessly, and they understood that sometimes you have to be a bit over-the-top in order to create a traffic-stopping window display. They did a brilliant job–
All my best,
Margaret

Of the three “windows” I like Eddie’s the best; there are a lot of things in there I REALLY like (antique brass & real flowers that match, adore the crystal “grapes”, the coffee table, those wonderful chairs), but a lot I don’t only because (to me) too much all at once. For instance, I really do love the splatter touch, but think it would have been better as as large artwork than covering the entire room from head to toe. I think the room would have come together by dropping that one thing. (BTW, Rhoda, much of what I’ve seen YOU do I like better than this particular room, particularly your office space; I think you are the only person that could have made me love that vivid lime green color. Now I’m looking for ways to use it.)

I cannot believe that anyone could find this unappealing, much less hideous. I realize that everyone has a different view of beautiful, but how about a little more respect for the hard work they put in? I don’t think it looks cluttered- it looks collected, and loved. I would die to live in that charming, ladylike room!
