Fall Color on Cape Cod

Fall in New England is the perfect time of year to see the turning leaves and experience Fall in this beautiful area of the country.

Hey friends!  We are back from our New England/Cape Cod vacation and wow, was it fun!  It was my first time up there, so I had no idea what to expect, but it was a lot of sight seeing, looking at the beautiful Fall leaves that were all turning during that time and eating so much good food.  We saw some gorgeous scenery and houses and I can’t wait to share it all with you all, but it will take me awhile to get through all my pics and get them edited.

So, today, I thought I start with some quintessential Fall leaf peeping in New England. We were on Cape Cod the whole trip and ended our visit in Newport, RI, so once I get my thoughts together and can get it all posted, I’ll share the highlights from each stop, from Chatham, MA to Nantucket, to Falmouth and finally Newport. All were unique and different and all had plenty of inspiration to see and explore. It’s true what they say about New England in the Fall. It’s spectacular with all the Fall color!

Let me just say that I’m officially in love with lobster rolls. I had the cold ones and the hot ones and they are both delectable treats. I can’t wait to get another one!  I can now see why Mark has been raving about them since I’ve known him. He’s been to the area at least 3 times and was a good tour guide for us.  We saw some new things and he shared some of the things he had experienced before and it was a wonderful trip.

We had mostly good weather, although the day we arrived and the day we left, it was rainy and windy. But the rest of the days were mostly sunny and cloudy, so it made for some beautiful pictures.  I took hundreds, I’m sure, I haven’t even counted them all yet, but I’ll start getting my posts together and share the rest with you soon.  There were SO many beautiful homes in Cape Cod that my home loving heart was filled to the brim.  These Cape Cod styles really speak to me SO much!  I’ll do a whole post just on the beautiful homes I photographed, as well as the B&B’s and the restaurants we liked.  It was an amazing trip, one that I’ll never forget and we had such a great time together.  This was our first big vacation since we’ve been married and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

So let’s start off this Fall week of November with some gorgeous leaf turning in Cape Cod.  These were taken during our whole week there, from Chatham, to Newport and in between, so I hope you enjoy!  I’ll tag the photos where they were taken.

I hope this gave you ALL the Fall feels in case you haven’t had enough Fall color in your world.  We are just starting to turn here in Georgia and it’s looking beautiful with all the Fall leaves shining in the sunshine in our backyard.  I dearly love Fall and this time of year. Seeing all the brilliantly colored leaves is so inspiring and definitely gets me in the mood for the Holiday season.

Mark and I both enjoy traveling, so you’re going to see more of that in the future as we visit more places and see more of this beautiful world of ours.  In fact, I’m so excited to tell you all that we have been invited on a Viking River cruise in December and we’ll be embarking on December 8th on the Romantic Danube river cruise. We are both so very excited to experience this trip together!  This is a blogger media trip and will be paid for by the cruise line (all we had to purchase was Mark’s airline ticket). As a blogger, I have been so blessed to get to do these things and share them with all of you. What a trip of a lifetime this will be and of course, I’ll share every bit of that trip too with y’all!  It is sure to create memories forever!

What a beautiful show of fall colors Rhoda! I was blessed with a trip with my best friend 3 yrs ago to Cape Cod & Nantucket during the fall and it was spectacular. I could recognize the locations I visited immediately when I saw your photos. We loved the light post displays in Falmouth and the French pâtisserie was like being in a dessert dream! lol Thank you for sharing Cape Codes fall beauty and bringing back such wonderful memories of a special journey.

    Blessings, Edie Marie

Soooo beautiful! So, you didn’t make it to Martha’s Vinyard? All of your pica are gorgeous! It really is the best time to visit for color! I would love to go again to the places we toured, and go to Nantuckett. Never been there!

Hi Rhoda, What great pictures! We love being up there for this time of year. We’ve missed it for two years but will be back there next year.

The problem is, once you’ve seen that color and breathed that air, it will call you EVERY year🤗

Can’t wait to hear about your river cruise. Have fun!

Beautiful. Looks as if you picked a great time for sightseeing in those areas. Didn’t see a lot of snarly traffic. Love your “travelogue” posts!

When our children were small we vacationed on Cape Cod with Falmouth as our home base! Your pictures were back memories. We do spend our time now in Newport as we have family there!

We r scheduled for Viking cruise on the Rhine in April 2019! You are indeed fortunate to be invited as they are expensive. Enjoy your cruise! If we like the one in April we would consider the Danube cruise! Can’t wait for your comments!

You pictures are lovely. And you will so enjoy the river cruise. My husband and I took the Danube itinerary in 2016. Budapest is one my favorite cities…it’s incredibly beautiful and exceptionally clean. To see European cities and buildings that are literally hundreds and hundreds of years old and in excellent condition impresses on the traveler that America is a VERY young country and, unfortunately, we apparently are specializing in “throwaway” buildings. The architecture in those cities you will see is incredible. Enjoy!

HI, Sharon, that’s so good to hear! I’ve been to Europe, but Mark has not, this will be his first time out of the country, so I know he’s going to be amazed at how old Europe is. He loves history, so it will be fun to experience this together.

I’ve been telling my husband that I wanted to do a “fall colors” trip to New England for years, so you’ve got me revved up (and wanting a lobster roll!). Can’t wait to hear about the B & B’s.
So, did your dating profile say “must love to travel and be super handy around the house?”…because you truly found the ideal blogger hubby! I’m so happy that you have a great partner to share in all of these wonderful experiences. It’s also twice as interesting for your readers because sometimes we get to hear about your trips from two perspectives.

Hey, Julia, you have to visit New England, I definitely want to go back and see Maine and Vermont. And get more lobster rolls! It truly is a God send to have Mark in my life, he’s the perfect fit for me and we so enjoy being together. We love so many of the same things, such a bonus! I may try to get him to write some posts or at least chime in on the Cape Cod visit in a future post. He’s a great writer and has a wonderful perspective of things.

    Rhoda,
Your pictures are gorgeous! We have been to Cape Cod/Newport several times but always during the warmer months so seeing it in the Fall was just as beautiful. Isn’t Nantucket so charming and the mansions in Newport breathtaking?

BTW…friends of ours did a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine in September and raved about it. I saw their pictures and it was gorgeous with all the castles and storybook scenery. They liked the fact that it was limited to less than 200 guests on the ship so it was more intimate.

We were on the Romantic Danube in July. Water was low but were able to cruise until being bussed to Prague. Still a great trip. Was our third cruise with Viking. Did China & France before. Loved walking around Krems on our own. Prague was very nice. Stayed in a hotel that was a monestery. I would love to be there for the Christmas Markets. Loved pictures from New England. We lived there in the 70’s – 80’s. Been in Atlanta for 35 yrs. but still love going back. So pretty in the fall. A neighbor was part owner of Hammersmith Farms in Newport, home of Jackie Kennedy’s family & where their wedding reception was. It was open for tours back then & I have a picture of my 4yr. old opening up the big front door. It’s since been sold & the property broken up into individual home sites. Was a beautiful piece of property back then, right on the ocean.

    Rhoda,
Beautiful pictures. We were in that part of the country in September and loved it, too. Sorry to say another local political ad popped up and started playing automatically. I’ll be so glad when this election is over!

So sorry, Barbara, my ad network assures me they have them blocked, but sometimes it gets sneaked through. I’ll be glad when it’s over too!
