How can it be Wednesday again? They sure roll around fast these days! Today I’m joining a blog hop party with some of my ahem……older blog friends! We are all Baby Boomers and you’ll find all sorts of topics on today’s blog hop that will appeal to us women of a certain age, so I hope you’ll take time to go and visit them. They are a great group of ladies and will have some interesting insights to be shared.
Getting older isn’t for sissies is it? I talk about this all the time with my friends and we all groan about the aging process, but there’s nothing we can do but smile and make the best of it, so that’s what we do. I wish there was a magic potion to slow it all down, but there just isn’t, so we all join the aging bandwagon and march forward, living our lives as best we can and vowing to make the most of what we have left. At least that’s what I do! Let’s celebrate life and ourselves and do what we can to feel good about us, what do you say? Here on my Fashion over 50 series, that’s what I try to do.
I turned 60 last year and 61 is approaching too fast, so as I’m full force into my 60’s, my goal is to try to look the best I can. My body might not always cooperate, but I can adjust my attitude and keep it focused on what’s important. What’s important is being there for our family and friends, first and foremost. That becomes more and more important in life as we are getting older. But I also believe that we should strive to look as good as we can. I don’t plan on giving that up anytime soon!
Those of you who read my blog regularly know that I’m in a casual place in life and I don’t dress up all that much anymore. Our lifestyle is very casual most days and that’s how I dress from day to day. Mark and I went out to a Fall home tour in a nearby town last weekend and this is what I wore.
The day started off a little chilly, so I added this furry vest I found a couple of years ago. You’ve seen all of this before, but I like to mix it up and pull things from my closet to make new outfits. It’s layered over a gray and white checked flannel shirt from Old Navy. I’ll add the links below, so you can check them all out. A similar shirt is still available at Old Navy in gray and black.
I like that the tail of this boyfriend shirt is longer in the back. I’ve sure gotten my money’s worth out of this faux fur vest too.
It’s perfect on a chilly Fall day and when it gets too hot, I take off the vest. I’ve really enjoyed these Converse Chuck Shoreline shoes too. They are perfect and comfy for a casual day out. I think you can wear Chucks with just about anything! I wash them in the washing machine too and set them out to dry.
Below are a few similar faux fur vests that you might enjoy browsing, as well as the same gray jeans and similar flannel boyfriend shirts from Old Navy. They don’t have the buffalo check anymore, but a similar plaid. Have a great day and please check out my friends links below!

You certainly do not look 60. I would never guess it. Your skin looks flawless! I have a white faux fur vest that I love too! Mine doesn’t look quite as good on me as yours does on you, but I love it! In fact, I think I will pull it out to wear tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.
🙂 gwingal
Thank you, Nikki, I appreciate that. My skin is definitely not flawless!
Love that cozy vest! It would be right at home here during our cold Canadian winters!
Rhoda, I love everything you’re wearing! I have a down-filled vest I wear a lot in the fall and spring here in Michigan, but never thought of one like you have. It would be perfect for the times it’s cool, but not too cold. I have you beat in age by 9 years. Yvonne and I talked about our ages at Haven and we both decided that neither her or I looked our ages because we’re both Hungarian. LOL! You look fantastic and don’t look a day over 50!
Thank you, Carol for stopping by! And thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. I love that there are so many of us older gals blogging, that feels good too to have our peers sharing this blog thing.
Hello Rhoda! I remember when you shared your grey buffalo plaid shirt last winter… I went out to Old Navy to see if they had my size and I think only smalls were left. Bummer, as it is really cute! 🙂 Yesterday I finally pulled out all of my favorite long-sleeved shirts as the temps are finally dipping into the 30’s overnight and 50’s during the day. I love cold weather better than hot, anymore, as it’s so nice to add a vest like you’ve done here and later it can come off. Thank you again for a fun share!!! <3 Happy to be with you on the Fantastic Fifty Fall Blog Hop!
I agree with all these other commenters, you always look really cute in everything. It’s funny, as I get older, I seem to take more care getting dressed and at the same time, care less and less what people think. Except when I go get my hair cut, I care a lot about how I dress that day. It’s my theory if the stylist sees a little old lady, that’s the kind of haircut I get.
Since I am an ER nurse and see what I see every day, I can say with great authority, if you don’t get older you get dead. Remember that when you get achey.
Nancy, I love that! Definitely don’t want to give in to the “little old lady” syndrome do we? And your nursing observations are good reminders!
You look adorable. I have never really struggled with my style, but I am finding that I really am right now. I don’t want to be dressed like an “old lady” but I don’t want to look like a teenager either.
I love the look. Even in Florida, the vest is perfect for the cooler mornings so once it warms up off it comes. I’m with you in the casual department. And I don’t even want to think about wearing heels!
