How can it be Wednesday again? They sure roll around fast these days! Today I’m joining a blog hop party with some of my ahem……older blog friends! We are all Baby Boomers and you’ll find all sorts of topics on today’s blog hop that will appeal to us women of a certain age, so I hope you’ll take time to go and visit them. They are a great group of ladies and will have some interesting insights to be shared.
Getting older isn’t for sissies is it? I talk about this all the time with my friends and we all groan about the aging process, but there’s nothing we can do but smile and make the best of it, so that’s what we do. I wish there was a magic potion to slow it all down, but there just isn’t, so we all join the aging bandwagon and march forward, living our lives as best we can and vowing to make the most of what we have left. At least that’s what I do! Let’s celebrate life and ourselves and do what we can to feel good about us, what do you say? Here on my Fashion over 50 series, that’s what I try to do.
I turned 60 last year and 61 is approaching too fast, so as I’m full force into my 60’s, my goal is to try to look the best I can. My body might not always cooperate, but I can adjust my attitude and keep it focused on what’s important. What’s important is being there for our family and friends, first and foremost. That becomes more and more important in life as we are getting older. But I also believe that we should strive to look as good as we can. I don’t plan on giving that up anytime soon!
Those of you who read my blog regularly know that I’m in a casual place in life and I don’t dress up all that much anymore. Our lifestyle is very casual most days and that’s how I dress from day to day. Mark and I went out to a Fall home tour in a nearby town last weekend and this is what I wore.
The day started off a little chilly, so I added this furry vest I found a couple of years ago. You’ve seen all of this before, but I like to mix it up and pull things from my closet to make new outfits. It’s layered over a gray and white checked flannel shirt from Old Navy. I’ll add the links below, so you can check them all out. A similar shirt is still available at Old Navy in gray and black.
I like that the tail of this boyfriend shirt is longer in the back. I’ve sure gotten my money’s worth out of this faux fur vest too.
It’s perfect on a chilly Fall day and when it gets too hot, I take off the vest. I’ve really enjoyed these Converse Chuck Shoreline shoes too. They are perfect and comfy for a casual day out. I think you can wear Chucks with just about anything! I wash them in the washing machine too and set them out to dry.
Below are a few similar faux fur vests that you might enjoy browsing, as well as the same gray jeans and similar flannel boyfriend shirts from Old Navy. They don’t have the buffalo check anymore, but a similar plaid. Have a great day and please check out my friends links below!

Adorable as always! My thinking is that we have to just keep smiling! Our faces will get a few wrinkles with time but I’d rather those be from smiles than frowns. 🙂
Nancy says
Absolutely! Aging is not for sissies! I am in my 70’s now and new ailments seem to add on frequently.
Thank you for sharing your lovely “older” bloggers. I am always in search of those with a little least energetic projects and fashion more becoming on me.

Just 2 days ago I was telling my friend about how adorable you are and how she MUST subscribe to your blog. I just found you a few months ago because of Haven and sooo glad I did. And you are so right, getting older isn’t for sissies and you do it very well! You are an inspiration to me (and I’m sure lots of others)!
Rhoda says
HI, Cindy, thank you so much, I truly appreciate your kind words!

You look absolutely adorable! Now that I’m 65 when I see articles about bemoaning aging at 50, I think “children!”

Rhoda you are effortlessly stylish. Everything looks great on you. If only I could look like that! Thanks for joining us at the blog hop!

You always look stylish and pretty! I love that you always look so fit with all you do. I find that when I started blogging back 2013, I was a pretty fit lady but then I started gaining weight from sitting down to much in front of a screen! I think blogging can do that! I decided that I would always go for a walk 2 miles before I did anything. It has been wonders for my fitness and mind. I have not missed a beat.

Maria, that’s great that you are getting out to exercise. I’ve kept up with mine for the most part too and still try to do something several times a week to stay active. Definitely helps with aging!

Your hair looks different- more bangs I think. It looks so cute!

You always look so stylish – and you take a great pic (I always feel so awkward when I get my photo taken – and I useless at selfies too btw!) You are really rocking 60 and an inspiration to those of us who are fast approaching the next decade 🙂 Leanne | http://www.crestingthehill.com.au

Very cute ensemble Rhoda! You always look good in everything you wear. I always go casual these days…even to church. Being you is what matters most I think.

Rhoda, I love your look and style. It’s so perfect for you. I’m finding my own style again, after turning 50 and letting myself go due to life’s struggles. I thought that I was too old, lol, to wear converse, but after seeing them on so many other blogs I decided to grab some. Mine are raspberry hightops and I love them. I will be adding more colors and styles to my new wardrobe.
It’s so cool to have the freedom to find your own style, isn’t it? I’m not as tied up in what others will think, or if they think I’m too old for Chuck Taylor’s. Once I turned 50 it’s as if a switch flipped. Now I’m not so concerned about what others think, I’m concerned about making myself feel good. When we feel good we’re able to show up in the world as our best selves. That’s the most important!
Rhoda says
Hey, Nikki, I totally agree with you and good for you on raspberry Chucks, I love that!
