I’m back today with another Fashion over 50 post, sharing a couple of outfits I put together recently. Some of these pieces you’ve seen before and the pants are new, a fun animal print (snakeskin print) . It’s fun to mix things up in your closet and come up with so many different looks from mixing and matching what you have.
Now, these pants might be over the top for some of you, but I happen to like a little animal print in my wardrobe and when I saw these glimmery gold snake print pants at C Wonder, I had to have them. I think these were $15 on that sale. These are from the closing sale I found before Christmas and I picked up so many things from this place. Too bad they are all going out of business and C Wonder will no longer be around. These are skinny pants made like jeans, in a nice stretchy cotton. The colors are gold and gray, a mix of cool and warm tones.
I paired them with my charcoal gray sweater and a new gray (it’s not mauve like the color may look) T-shirt top I found at TJ Maxx, by Cynthia Rowley, on clearance for $11.
Similar gray cotton T-shirt.
Similar Gray Cardigan from Nordstrom.
Here are a few pieces of fun Gold Jewelry and Black/Gold bangles and more bangles.
And I picked out a couple of gold necklaces (tassel Gold necklace) for you to check out too, love the addition of costume jewelry.
I wore them out on a date and to a design event I went to and got compliments specifically on the pants, so I think they were a hit.
Here is a pair of similar snakeskin print pants in a black/gray pattern that I think are also fun.
They might not be for everyone, but I do like to step out of the box sometimes and be a little sassy with my clothing choices.
I paired them with my suede booties and felt really cute in this outfit.
Similar suede booties and an Ivanka Trump pair of similar booties.
Wearing the same gold snakeskin print pants, I wore them to a design event too, but this time I paired them with a cream sweater from Michael Kors that I picked up at TJ Maxx on clearance. It has gold zippers on the sweater which picked up the gold in the pants.
I paired the sweater with my teal and gold scarf for a little added color and liked how it all looked together. The gold in the scarf really ties it into the pants.
Here’s another Michael Kors sweater in cream that I like. And a pretty teal scarf.
With my suede booties and gold jewelry, this was a fun outfit too.
Don’t be afraid to have some fun with your clothes choices and have fun mixing things up.
Some of you were asking about how Lauren tied her scarf in one of my posts and I’ve been using this method now too, so did a little video to show how easy it is to tie on a scarf like this.
Hope you enjoyed this fashion post today. I really enjoy all different types of clothing, from classic to a little funky, so you’ll see me changing things up from time to time.

Good morning…Supermodel Rhoda! You are looking snazzy in your fancy pants. Love the different ways you accessorized. Don’t think it would have occurred to me to pair up the green scarf with the pants, but it totally works. Thx for the great ideas. Stay warm. Suz

You are really rocking that look , Miss Rhoda!! I have a secret addiction to “crazy pants” as well and would wear those in a heart beat. You look trim and slim in all your outfits, but I have to say, these pants really make you look slender — ready for your close up, Mr. DeMille?
Nancy from RI says
You look gorgeous and I like the jazzy looking pants too.

These outfits look great on you! I agree with the lady above, I wouldn’t have picked that scarf but love it with your outfit. Thanks for showing us how to tie it.
I have a pair of slimsation animal print pants that are my “out of the box” outfit. You have inspired me to wear more often. Thanks.

Rhoda, you’re rocking your outfits, today! I’m a big fan of animal prints, especially leopard. I don’t have any Python print, but really, really like your pants because the color is very subtle and not so in your face. The cardigan and sweater both look great paired with them. Your booties, jewelry, and scarf are perfect too!!
I find myself in my closet a lot of days looking at my wardrobe and putting together different pieces to make new outfits. Try it ladies, you’d be surprised!!

Sandy says
Oh that would be darling to see your dad model some clothes!

My favorite thing in those outfits is the scarf – love it!
The pants – the snakeskin print is fine, I like that, but I don’t care for shiny fabrics (or metallics) so that would get me.

I’m enjoying your fashion posts, Rhoda. Your scarf tie is a bit different than one I’ve been doing – the twist makes it even easier! You look great…love the snakeskin pants and I’m looking for similar booties with a pointy toe…so hard to find!

hi Rhoda, love your fashion style, being an over 50 it makes me happy to see you be yourself with your hip fashion. You rock it. I have a question about your steps, I have been over your blog and can’t find where you ever posted the name/manufacturers of the carpet runner. I have only found it in a wood and found it to be too pricey for a wall to wall. Hoping yours is not wool and something I can afford. Would you mind to share that with me?
Thanks!
Rhoda says
HI, Janie, I did the runner 2 years ago and here’s the complete how-to on it, as well as the Dash and Albert outdoor runners I used on the stairs. They are holding up well!

It was nice hearing your voice in the scarf tutorial today! I think adding a scarf makes a big difference in the look of an outfit. I have been exploring your blog and reading your yearly comments about running it. I’m not a blogger but really enjoyed reading about how yours has developed. I can tell it’s a full time job learning all of the technical aspects & keeping it interesting, which you certainly do. I started reading blogs a couple of years ago & found your’s about 6 months ago. It is right up there at the top of my favorites.
Rhoda says
Thank you, Linda, so glad you are enjoying my blog. I try to keep it interesting and talk about many different topics.

Rhoda, You’re a natural modeling those clothes in front of the camera! Hmmmm…. maybe an extension to your blogging career could be fashion modeling for women over 50? I love this outfit! The pants are perfect paired with the boots. My favorite combo is with the white sweater. Of course it helps that you have the perfect figure for these clothes. Who says women can’t dress in funky hip clothes especially classy outfits like you’re wearing!

Thanks for the scarf tutorial, please do some more. I love scarves and would wear them more if i knew what to do with them. Your animal print pants look so adorable, my favorite outfit is the one with the white sweater. Thanks for your tips! So very helpful!!!

Love the pants…..You’re looking good….rock on!!!

I am thinking that a short, rounded figure couldn’t pull of those pants but you look fabulous!

Not a fan of snake skin in any shape or form, but I will say one thing, the fit is perfect for your long lean legs. I have similar booties and love mine, wear them with dark jeans and white jeans too. Just a little FYI, try not to let your socks show with the booties, I know you need them for warmth, but for the look you want a little skin showing. Just a friendly little hint. Love that you are doing fashion post, because I love fashion almost as much as design. Isn’t it fun being a girl, make-up is another love of mine. I bet we could talk for hours.

HI, Kathysue, I know we both have a love of classic fashion, so fun to talk about it all! You know, I’ve seen booties all over and there seems to be so many ways the younger fashion bloggers are wearing them. I’ve seen booties with no socks and ankles showing and plenty with socks and rolled up jeans, no ankle showing. So for me, I do like the socks and booties with no ankle showing in this particular look. The thing about fashion, it’s all up to interpretation and we can do what we enjoy and feel comfortable with.
