Enjoy this feature that I shared back in 2011, the home of iconic Atlanta designer, Dan Carithers who has since passed away in 2018. His Traditional style will always be the epitome of good design. And don’t panic when you read about me moving at the bottom of the post. This was WAY back when I moved home to Atlanta!
Dan Carithers has been a design fixture in Atlanta for many years and his featured cottage in Traditional Home caught my eye, once again. They have some of the best eye candy spreads around. In a great older neighborhood of Atlanta, it’s a standout house. Elegant and classic, two things that capture my attention.
Inside is Dan eye candy all around. I’ve always admired Dan’s style, he can put rooms together like no other.
Classic, traditional style never gets old in my book.
Do you agree?
Beautiful and stylish interiors are a Dan Carither’s trademark.
I could dine here any day.
What a gorgeous kitchen!
Just lovely.
Toile is still attractive to me and this is a stunning room.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of Dan Carither’s Atlanta cottage. I sure did!
I’m at the beach again this week, in Port St. Joe and Destin, but I’ll be back soon to tell you about the move and hopefully get caught up on some posts. I’m enjoying a few travel excursions before I get settled in.

Enjoyed it? LOVED it…wow this is just perfection. Every single room is so beautifully done, elegant but inviting..normally I love a room or two but every single one was just stunning!
Agreed, Rhoda! I wanted to jump in the car and go find this little ATL cottage when I saw this spread. 🙂 What I love about Dan’s style is that he always works in a little something unexpected. Thanks for the eye candy… and enjoy your travels; we were just down there last weekend and loved it!
I am sure that I will be revisiting this post several times over the weekend. Thanks, Rhoda!
Dan’s landscape & exterior design are every bit as good as his interiors. Rare for an accomplished interior decorator.
His kitchen is decades old & as fresh as the day he created it.
He’s the male version of Bunny Williams.
Never seen a bad pic of his work. And he covers DECADES.
Garden & Be Well, XO Tara
Unfortunately, I have never heard of Dan but he does beautiful work. You can never go wrong with the traditional look, it is my favorite. Have a good time in Destin – I am only an hour away in Pensacola and it is a chilly morn but it is suppose to warm up to 78 degrees today.

Beautiful spaces, love traditional architecture and those kitchen cabinets are wonderful! Janell
I love Dan Carither’s style and have tear sheets of his rooms that are probably 20 years old. His work is elegant but entirely livable and warm. Thanks for posting!
He is hugely talented! Loved seeing this as I’ve always enjoyed his work.
xo,
Sheila 🙂
Oh, that kitchen flooded in light!! How I love thee!! I swear I’d cook if I had that kitchen. I would, really!! Ok, fine, I’d hang out there a lot. that’s for darn sure!
Is it even possible to decorate this on a minimal budget? Nevermind, my kids would destroy it anyway. Maybe someday…
I absolutely agree that classic, traditional style never gets old. I love it. I’ve been subscribing to Traditional Home ever since I discovered it 12 years ago and it’s still my favorite. A well known blogger poo-poo-ed it awhile ago and I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that likes it.
Very elegant and charming. Love all the rooms.
Love Dan – and his signature toile walls! Ring me up sometime so we can get together. I am no longer on facebook – taking too much of my time and attention that needs to be put to better use. Or email me…..
Oh this home is gorgeous!!! Beautifully done, every room! Thanks for sharing this, I will save some of these pictures. The kitchen is amazing, love that high chair/bench…. XO, Pinky
super pretty!!
100 percent with you….just lovely !!! I let my subscription to TH go this year, I got a year of Martha’s Living instead (I am up to my chin in magazines, love them) so I had to let one go, I am already disappointed…. I miss it 🙁
Happy Sunday to you, have a ball at the beach….
Kathy 🙂
Stunning! That blue gingham! I am a gingham freak!! The kitchen!! Yep, I could live there forever!

You mentioned, “about the move”. Did I miss something? Are you moving? Very curious. Thanks.
Hi, KJ, this post was from 2011 and I had just moved from Birmingham back to my home of Atlanta. Old post!
Oh my…..I LOVE his cottage…I have seen his gorgeous work and he is so very amazing…I love every inch of this cottage. Sharing!
Loved your Pinterest post about the fabric stores in ATL! I lived in Buckhead years ago and also shopped them so often it was ridiculous!!! Recently, moved to the Panhandle of Florida and have been jonesing to return to Atlanta for the fabrics. I’m so new to this area, maybe there are some good outlet stores like you all have in Destin or Pensacola. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
