Every year for a few years, I’ve been invited to tour the Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Home for the Holidays designer showhouse. This year it was another inspiring visit to the home, as I toured the rooms of top designers in the area and beyond, seeing all the beauty they put together for this gorgeous home in the West Paces Ferry Road area. This year’s home is off Mt. Paran Road if you’re in the Atlanta area.
Benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, it’s worthy charity as well, so your tickets go to a good cause. This year’s showhouse is a newly built, 8800 s.f. Buckhead estate on 2 acres. Designed by architecture firm Harrison Design ad built by Sheehan Built Homes, the house features the work of 20 top Atlanta designers.
The house is open to the public from November 16 to December 10, so if you want to check it out, be sure and get tickets above.
Extra bonus, all the paint color and designer resources by Designer are listed online, so check out this link for all of that info!

I hope you enjoyed the tour this year and if you’re in the area, try to get by in person. Enjoy the rest of this wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
Beautiful home. If mine, I would start over with the interior furnishings/ design, Gawd awful. Isn: t well matched with the design of the house.
I thought I was just being snarky for thinking the same thing. The decorators are trying too hard. To much going on.
I was thinking the same thing…it hurt my eyes to look at it. There are lots of beautiful pieces individually, but there is too much going on in every room. There isn’t anything for your eyes to rest on.
some of it actually hurts my eyes.
Amazing decor! It was fun to take a look and I certainly appreciate all of the hard work and creativity that went into decorating this home! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing, Rhoda! I love to see these homes. This one looks horrible though. The decor looks really cheap, trendy, and like it was just thrown together. And the landscaping (or lack of) in the front of house is really bad. It looks like they ran out of money before they finished the landscaping.
Nice house amazing decor. I will give 10 on 10! Amazing post as usual Rhoda!
The Christmas trees and other holiday decor were beautiful, but the interior of the house itself is not to my taste . It is interesting to see what people who have money do with it. LOL Cannot wait to see YOUR Christmas decorating. Thanks for sharing the photos.
I guess it’s just me but I did not like this house at all. To me, the inside look and the outside look did not go together. I was looking for more Old World style or something on that order. This house seemed cold and insipid. It seems to me on show houses like this, designers go a little overboard trying to be unique and different. Sorry to be so negative but that’s how I feel about this house. Dining room and entry way were most horrid! But I have enjoyed seeing YOUR house Rhoda, and what you and Mark have done to put your own personal stamp on it.
I would dread coming home to this house at the end of the day. Nothing cohesive or appealing in any room in this house. Designers(?) run amuck. Trying too hard and not succeeding.
Beside your own new home, which is amazing, I did enjoy seeing all the different designers’ styles in this home. I enjoyed the pops of color in many of the rooms. Like some other readers, I like the old world style better for this type of home. But there sure is something for everyone in this home.
I usually love these showcase homes, but almost every room in this one reminds me of cheap, mid-eighties decor. No thanks! What a disappointment.
Thank you for your investigative reporting though, Rhoda!
The study, gorgeous blue ceiling!! with that lovely fireplace and the children’s room and many of the rooms are very pretty. I don’t understand the foyer, it’s confusing (Las Vegas funeral home?) compared to the rest of the house. Let’s just say, not my favorite. It’s seems your photos made the house look more cohesive and a lot prettier. I do always enjoy looking at homes.
I was beginning to think I was hopelessly out of touch for not really liking much about the interiors – that dining room was totally ridiculous! So glad to know that there are other people who felt the same.
I usually really enjoy your house tours, even if not my style, but this house was very disappointing. No cohesiveness, looks cold, cheap and cluttered to me. And that dining room definitely was different. But thanks for taking us along for the tour.
Not quite sure what was on the decorators minds but………..bless
their hearts for trying!
Totally agree with dib
Totally awful interior design😂
Wow. This house had so much going on, such a mix of colors and styles. The design seemed forced, too random in some instances and too match match in others. I agree that the dining room was very strange, but hey, to each his/her own. I am thankful that while I love pretty things I am not compelled to do something quite that over the top…not that it is even an option! Thanks for sharing, would love to have heard comments from you and the other attendees as you explored the rooms!
Ha Ha Ha!! I just kept thinking as I scrolled through: Good thing I’m not wealthy!! I wouldn’t know how to live in such a place. C’mon, Atlanta designers…. you can do better. Glad I’m not the only one that feels this way. Shhhh – I’ll bet Rhoda agrees with us all!
Teehee, Barbara, see my comment to Sofia, I just know when to keep my mouth shut!
Lol. That’s all I can think to write, since my mama raised a polite girl. ;). Rhoda-are you “allowed” to give an honest opinion on a sponsored post? Because your taste is SO much better than this yet you said it was “gorgeous”? Ha, ha. Well, the outside is indeed gorgeous-maybe you were referring to that? Or maybe it was better in real life? I do usually love your tours-so I do sincerely thank you. Happy Thanksgiving weekend!!
Hi, Sofia, haha, I know, it’s not going to be everyone’s taste and I knew that as I was taking the pics. I did learn a long time ago not to really share my opinion about a particular designer on my blog, because I did that once at a designer showhouse and then he saw it and I felt really bad for calling it tacky. Anyway, did I like everything about the house and design. No, I didnt. There were certain designers I liked a lot and others I didn’t care for, but I’m just going to leave it at that!:)
Fair enough, Rhoda. Always better to err on the side of kindness.
Add me to the list of Negative Nellies. No. Just. No.
I was a single mom for many years, scraping by and decorating with finds from the side of the road. I remarried a man of means and we were able to build and design our dream home. What fun I had, ladies! HOWEVER…there is no excuse for this house design. On Project Runway they call it lack of cohesion. It is so obvious that the same taste level and POV (Point of View) was not sketched out as some kind of central design principle. Exceptions, yes; the red, white and blue kid’s room is fantastic, for example. I can appreciate modern, traditional and contemporary mixed together – it’s sophisticated and fun when done right. It is reassuring to know we who frequent this blog are kindred spirits!
I was really glad to see that most of your readers felt the same way I did about this house. I agree with Janet and thought the red, white and blue children’s room was well done….the rest, just a big NO! I did enjoy seeing the swan wallpaper, but that is because my grandmother’s maiden name was Swan and she had swan wall paper in her bathroom too. It seems to me that so many of these huge homes have borderline gaudy and pretentious decorating going on……looks like it would hinder the sales. If I had enough money to buy one, I would want it decorated to my taste and not have to paint over, rip out and change something I didn’t like.
Oh– how sad that this beautiful brand new house was so destroyed! I became more speechless as I scrolled through the photos, hoping to find the “good rooms”, only to realize that there weren’t any here. The kitchen seemed to be the room that faired the best.
If this was an example of what Atlanta designers are doing, I most certainly am very disappointed. I actually wanted to cry at what they did to these interiors.
I’ve been a huge fan of our Chicago area Designer Show Homes, and even if the style wasn’t to my own liking, I can appreciate when it is well done. How upset the builder must be!!!!!!!!!!
I, too, hated to “speak my mind” for politeness sake, but I’m with everyone else on this one.
