Feature Friday: More from Debbie’s House

My friend, Debbie, has been working hard on her house the last couple of years and the familyroom is one area that came together well. I showed you this room before, but she has added a few things since then. And if you missed her pretty bedroom that you can see straight through the door above, click here for that tour.

Picture 026

I helped her with some of the furniture purchases and she put the rest together.  It’s a cozy and warm room that welcomes guests.  Picture 027

The fabric covered ottoman is a nice touch in here and the rusty reds and golds are easy to live with. Picture 006

Look how great the fabric I found at the yardsale looks in Debbie’s room?  I had a 1 yard piece left over from the throw I made and gave it to her to make these great pillows for the sofa.  Not bad for a $10 yardsale remnant. Picture 019

Debbie also jumped on the beadboard wallpaper bandwagon (click here if you missed my project last year) and they spruced up her powder room with it and chairrail.  Looks great, don’t you think?  I love how it added some architectural interest to this tiny space.

Picture 018

We shopped an antique mall and that’s where she found most of these accessories.  I love this green metal shelf. Picture 032

Totally cute space. Picture 033

A couple of botanicals finish off the wall. Picture 034

She loves green too!

Just a reminder, I have beadboard wallpaper in my shop, so click over there to check it out. Next week, we’ll be doing a little promotion with a 10% coupon too, so if you are in the market for this wonderful wallpaper, it will be a good time to purchase.

And, I’m very excited that I’m in the process of getting a total bloggy makeover that is much overdue.  I cannot wait, so be on the lookout in about a week to see the new and improved Southern Hospitality!

I love her warm and cozy home. She likes color like I do. The only thing I would change is in the last picture, I think the two pictures on the wall should be hung at the same height. Of course I can’t see the whole room.

Love the shelf, and the Chardonnay sign. Was that a treasure found also? Thanks for sharing. She is doing a great job!

What I love about the green in the bathroom is that it truly accents without taking over. Excellent choices.

Her home is very warm and welcoming, I have to agree. Thanks for the look at it. That fabric is really great, too. It made for a really beautiful pillow. Hugs, Cindy S.

I love the colors in Debbie’s family/living room.

In one of your posts – at least I think it was on your blog – you showed and talked about a sisal rug, I believe. I can’t remember if it was from Ballard Designs or from Overstock. Do you know which one I’m referring to?

I want to replace my living room area rug with a sisal. I want a soft, nice-quality one that isn’t scratchy or jute-like, and that my cats won’t mistake for scratching-post material!
Do you know where I could fine one without paying a fortune? My current rug is approximately 5′ by 8′, and I want to go a little bigger. I guess the next size would be 8 by 10.

I am reluctant to order a large item like a rug from Overstock, although I have been pleased with bedding, sheets, and towels I’ve gotten from them. I would not want to pay shipping on something I didn’t like or couldn’t use. But they have a nice, big selection of area rugs.

Could you offer any suggestions on a nice sisal or sisal blend?
    Thanks so much

    Hi Rhoda,

Thank you for visiting my blog today and for the nice compliments, they mean a lot to me coming from such a big-time blogger such as yourself. I’m very flattered that Jennifer featured my home on her blog. I had never even seen her blog before! I had a lot of fun with Eddie and J, they are crack-ups.

The colors are warm and inviting. I have reds, tans, greens, and I love them. I see a lot of rooms online that are white and neutral and I love them but they aren’t me.

    I love the ottoman too.
