Come tour the Pinewood Forest Idea home 2018 and see the latest trends and ideas created by top designers in the Atlanta area.
I get invited to many events around Atlanta and this week, I was invited to the grand opening preview of the Pinewood Forest Idea Home 2018 sponsored by Atlanta Magazine Home. It’s down south of the airport in Fayetteville, GA and near the Pinewood Studios. Georgia has a thriving movie business now and lots of movies are being filmed here in GA and that studio is a hub.
Pinewood Forest is a new neighborhood in the same area as the studio and it was fun to visit. The neighborhood was very innovative and different from the norm.
Keep reading because I have 2 tickets to give away to one of you who is in the Atlanta area and can actually visit in person! Thanks to Atlanta Magazine for this giveaway! **Ticket giveaway closed: Winner is Suzette Weaver.
Here’s the poster of all the sponsors and you can visit the website for more information too. The house will be open to the public from September 15 through October 7, 2018 (weekends only, Friday, Sat. and Sun.) and tickets are available online. Tickets for the Idea Home are $25. Tickets are also available for purchase at the door and proceeds will benefit The Forest School.
I’m not sure how to describe the exterior of the house, but it’s very fresh and modern with a mix of beautiful materials. I should have taken a closer pic of that twig fence, it was really unique and pretty. The covered porch is just beyond those evergreen bushes, the main house is to the right, and the guest house tower is to the left. This was all very unique and different from anything I’ve seen built before.
One very unique part of the house was the front covered porch. the entrance to the house is to the right of the porch, but other doors spill out onto the porch from inside.
Just inside the twig fence is the front door, another unique door, I love the shape of it. And I loved the white stone on the house.
I won’t try to narrate the whole house, but all the designers are listed on the Pinewood link above if you are interested. I didn’t take note of all the designer’s spaces, but I do know a few of them, who are friends of mine.
There was never a time when people weren’t in the kitchen, so this is the best I could do on photos for it.
Downstairs powder room.
I really liked the laundry room.
Master bedroom and bath.
Let’s go upstairs.
I did really like this graphic black and white floral wallpaper.
Such a punchy bathroom.
This was the rooftop off the top level,
This space was designed by one of my design friends, Jennifer Schoenberger and her partner, Lindsey Hene. I liked this wallpaper too.
The bunk room was very dramatic and moody with black paint.
The guest tower was designed by another designer friend, Sherry Hart, who blogs at Design Indulgence. I love to see what she does, always pretty.
All in all, a fun house to visit. These idea houses are not usually my taste, but I always enjoy looking. The trend now is still very neutral, graphic, dramatic spaces in showhouses and I love my color, so there’s that. I don’t think I will ever go neutral at this point, although I appreciate it when it’s done well. I think idea houses in general are to show trendy high impact rooms and that’s what this was.
I know most of my readers won’t be wowed by this house, but I wanted to show it to you anyway and hope you enjoyed seeing this home.
Hope you enjoyed this preview to the Pinewood Forest Idea house.
I have 2 tickets to give away to one of you here in the Atlanta area, if you are able to go. Please leave a comment if you know you can use the tickets and I’ll choose one lucky winner on Monday! I’ll mail you the tickets as soon as I choose a winner.
Thanks as always for stopping by and having a great weekend!

If “curb appeal” is a main component of a house, this is sadly lacking! Never have I seen a less appealing home! It’s almost as if the architecture thru every idea he/she ever saw into a hat, pulled them out one by one and thru on the drawing board! And the inside is equally unappealing. Sorry Rhoda, this structure (can’t call it a home) gets a big thumbs down. Only positive is that fence that did look interesting.

I thought the house had great curb appeal! I liked the outside much more than the inside.

You are right, Rhoda. I (long time reader) am not wowed by this house. But I do appreciate looking at the trends and the creativity involved. It’s just a little too dark and cold for me. Too much concrete. I love the wallpapered rooms, though. Thank you for sharing.

I always enjoy a good house tour, but this was not my cup of tea at all. Your beautiful home, full of color, is much more to my liking! Hope you have a splendid weekend…we are due for a visit from Florence by Sunday.

I have always enjoyed decorating & especially to tour homes. Always looking for fresh new ideas I can bring into our home. I would love to go & see this house . Atlanta has some great designers with different ideas.
Always enjoy seeing what you have done at your home.

I too have to say I’m not impressed. I think it’s out of place, looks more like a California house plunked down in Georgia. That said, I do like to see houses that are not my preferred style because I usually find something unexpected that I really like and can use the idea somewhere in my own home, which I guess is the whole point!

I love following you on instagram and your blog, especially your parents.
I live in Smyrna and hope I might win the tickets to the “idea” home.

My best friend and I love touring homes together! It’s always fun to check out different areas of Atlanta, and opening our minds up to different ways of designing.

I think the real stars if this house are the DOORS; exterior and interior. I guess I’m the odd girl out because I really like this house. Most of the décor is way over the top for my taste but that’s how design homes are.

Okay… in trying to find the positive and good things in life… the wood work and millwork are quite outstanding in this home. But, for my taste, there are too many hard edges in most rooms and the design is not to my taste – but that’s not to say it’s ugly – just not me. Most of the artwork is noteworthy but I WAS a bit taken back by the Star Wars wall of ‘stars.’ LOL (there is some pretty wall paper used, also)

Interesting and unusual. Not a typical home for Georgia, but I love the rock exterior and the doors. It would be fun to view. Thanks for sharing with us. I am a Georgia girl.

Overall, this house isn’t my cup of tea, but I did like the room that your friend Jennifer Schoenberger designed, especially the ceiling and the Audrey Hepburn quote, and I thought the Star Wars character prints in the bunk room were hilarious! I’m in Houston, so can’t use the tickets, but I hope that whoever wins enjoys them!

Hi Rhoda! I love reading you everyday! This Pinewood home looks like nothing I’ve seen before.
Very interesting! I enjoy decorating but do it according to “what feels right to me” and my budget. I’m on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and years ago I did a blog at marymegdoster.blogspot.com. Hope you have a great weekend! (Btw, your sister’s pool looks delightful!) ~Meg Doster

I enjoyed seeing something with a different design point of view. It’s good to see new things.

Rhoda! Thank you for sharing this and other show houses. I completely agree that these homes are a more dramatic version of what is ‘the norm’ but I still love looking at them. Think of these show homes as a fashion show. You will most likely never see on the street what you see on a dramatic runway but it s an exaggerated version of what will be on the racks. That being said I liked certain elements of it and others not as much but overall it was fun to take a peek inside. Parts of it reminded me of modern Texas hill country homes. Thanks again for sharing.I really enjoyed seeing it! I look forward to seeing other concept/show homes homes on your blog.

Just not my taste. I love your house and all the color and textures, but this house was a bit too cold for me. But thanks for sharing

Thank you Rhoda for showing this house. My favorite feature is the covered front porch. All I can think about is the cleaning,a full time job.

Would love to take my Mom when she comes for a visit! You can get great ideas from these Idea Homes even if not your style.

Thanks for sharing this unusual house. Looks like California has come to Georgia in more ways than just the movie industry!
Susan Foster says
Hmmm. Well..the twig fence is unusual and probably the warmest thing about this house. I do like the black and white floral paper in the bath and I saw an abstract painting that I really liked.

Hi Rhoda, I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now. This home piqued my curiosity! I’m a fan of Sherry Hart so the darker neutrals are starting to grow on me. (I think it’s an acquired taste.) I’d love to check out the Pinewood Forest community and see how it compares to Serenbe. XOXO
