Today’s Feature Friday just might be my dream home. Â I sort of gave up on the idea of dream homes somewhere along the way. Â Life will do that to you…and age. Â But, really Erin’s home from The Sunnyside up Blog just might be one of the dreamiest new home builds I’ve seen in a long time. Â It’s just magnificent and I love the style.
Erin says her style is coastal/Craftsman and it truly is a beautiful combination. Â Her house has all the elements I love.
She’s been married to her hubby for 18 years and they have 3 beautiful kiddos.  They live in sunny San Diego and finished building their custom home 2 years ago next month.  Erin’s been blogging for several years, but somehow I had never met her blog.  I got to meet her at Haven this year and she is a doll.
Erin and her sweet family.
Their new Coastal/Craftsman home. Â I totally love the classical elements of a house like this, from the stonework, siding, and shingles, love it all.
Hanging lanterns always get my attention.
Inside the front door, just take a look at all that custom millwork. Â Amazingly beautiful! And the entry floor….sigh. Erin is still in the process of decorating her home, but just seeing the bones of a beautiful home like this is inspiring.
Looking towards the living room.
Built ins and coffered ceiling is just gorgeous. Â She’s started adding some color in here with pillows and drapes.
Love it all!
Coral and navy are the star colors of the room.
Next stop is the family room, which is next to the kitchen.
It has a vaulted ceiling and a wonderful cozy feel with the sectional sofa. She says this room is the most finished.
Open and spacious.
Love the lines of the ceiling and those plank wood floors (which remind me of mine!).
Such a pretty console table.
Pink striped chair in the corner, looking so pretty.
Peeking in to the kitchen.
And what a kitchen it is!
An island with seating separates the kitchen from the family room and another island is behind it.
Beautiful space with gorgeous woodwork and countertops.
Sink in the island and the gray on the cabinets is so stylish.
Cabinet and backsplash details.
Beautifully styled shelves in the kitchen.
Love this breakfast table tucked by the kitchen with all those windows letting in that glorious sunshine.
They also have a separate dining room space, which Erin kept on the casual side. Â Beautiful!
A bathroom has such elegance off the hallway. The millwork in her house is just amazing.
Another look at the bathroom. Those marble countertops make me drool.
Dutch door and stairway.
Mudroom with lockers for all. Â Love the doors in the house too.
Beautiful and organized too.
She has a laundry room on each floor. She has a laundry room for her kids upstairs and one on the main level as well.
And beautiful it is!
Her girl’s bathroom is just stunning. Â All the details that go into a custom house is so pretty to see.
Main floor laundry room.
With pullout laundry bins.
Master bath tub.
Erin’s new office/craft space.
Her kids have a playroom too, so nice.
Organized to the hilt!
And extra storage in these pull-out drawers, how fun is that?
Outside is a beautifully landscaped pool and outdoor entertaining area. Â This is just amazingly beautiful!
Here’s how the pool started and just look at the view.
A pergola was added for a seating area and she has lounge chairs around the pool. Â If I had this in my backyard, I’d never go on vacation again!
Ahh, that pergola is so stunning, what a great place for a party.
Backyard paradise in San Diego.
The back of the house with a covered porch.
Fireplace and seating area make it a great entertaining space.
The kids even have a built in the ground trampoline.
Erin’s new home is just stunning and I know you enjoyed the tour as much as I did. Â Even though I’ll never have a home this beautiful or spacious, I can certainly enjoy seeing the beauty in a custom built home. Â I wish Erin and her family many years of happiness in their dream home! Â Stop by and visit Erin at The Sunnyside Up Blog. Â You’ll love it!

What a sweet thing to say Cheri! Thank you so much! xo

Erin, I would love to know your paint choices. Grey has been my fav for 40 years. We just bought a new home and would love to know what you used in your home. Thank you, Dawn
Rhoda says
Hi, Dawn, I am afraid that Erin won’t see your comment here, if you click over to her blog, you can ask her there. Thanks!

Her home is absolutely stunning! It’s funny, because her home is pretty similar to our “dream home,” as well! I literally pull her home tour up every few months when I’m trying to give hubby a visual of what I’d like to do next in our home. I love your style, as well! Have a wonderful weekend!
Erin says
Thank you Moye! Sounds like we have similar tastes! 🙂 xo
Linda says
Very stunning!
Thanks for the tour!
Erin says
Thanks Linda!

Not hard to build a dream house when you have a million plus to dedicate to it. I do not personally know one person that would be able to afford a place like this, let alone in San Diego. Can’t argue that it is a stunning home in every way…just impossible to relate or dream that big.
Rhoda says
Wow, Kim, that’s a little harsh. Why rain on someone’s parade? No, we can’t all afford a dream home like this, but if someone saves up their money and builds it, then I say more power to them. We are all entitled to build and live in what we can afford and desire to create. I can enjoy a beautiful home like Erin’s without begrudging the homeowners for having a stunning house.
Kim says
I was not in any way trying to begrudge them their beautiful home or their dream. I was just stating a fact and didn’t mean to offend you or her. I’m sorry you misunderstood my comment.
Jane H. says
Beautiful house, but I understand Kim’s point……and I’m sure I’m not the only one. What I will try to take away for my own use is some of the organizational ideas. Can never improve enough in that area!
Kim says
Thanks for understanding my comment.
KATHYSUE says
Stunning!! I could move right in and live happily ever after. All the light bright colors, no clutter, great light and fabulous millwork.

This is beautiful. I especially like the kitchen’s double islands, the pull-out laundry baskets, and Erin’s office/craft room. Love the white with subtle color — everything looks so fresh and pretty.

Thank you so much Rachel! xo

Rhoda you are such a sweetheart! Your feature seriously made my day (maybe my week!). Thank you so much for all of your kind words. I’m thrilled you like it! I absolutely loved meeting you at Haven and can’t wait to dive in and catch up on your fun blog! Thanks again my friend! xo

The pool area is awesome! Also, all of the trim work and built-ins are really well done.
I am inspired by the laundry room Mine is dismal.
Any chance of getting the paint color specs for the colors used throughout the home?

I have my ticket to tour your home tomorrow but still do not have your address. Please tell me
what I need to do. Thanks. Linda

Just emailed you back, Linda!

Love the Gray. If I ever get a dream home, I want it to look just like this, but maybe a little smaller.
Sandy says
I have to agree Erin’s home is visually stunning and super organized. I love this style home but for myself would like one exactly like it in a smaller footprint. I always thought my dream would be to have a huge home but the older I get I would just like a bit more space mabye 1800 square feet would be perfect for me. Love every detail of Erin’s home. I love all your features Rhoda. I like that you feature so many different styles and all sizes of homes both big and small. Oh, I love the color of Erin’s upstairs laundry room!
Erin says
Thank you so much Sandy! xo
Jane says
Absolutely so well done, inside and out. Little in the way of “decorative clutter” is needed in a house with so many fresh architectural details. That’s my kind of decorating! Good job, Erin.
Erin says
Thank you Jane! What a sweet thing to say! I really appreciate that. 🙂

For the first time in my life I kinda see the beauty of gray! I usually HATE gray but all this is just gorgeous.
Once I lived in a house that was built by an excellent company that did high class Southern/Cajun inspired homes. The original owners were a family that owned a lumber yard. What a perfect combination. Well, that house was so decked out with lovely millwork and floors, you can’t imagine. They did such a great job with selecting what to be paintable white and what to be wood, every room inside was so special and authentic, the porches and decks outside were so lovely. Then we bought the beautiful house, my dream home. But when you aren’t happily married or content with your life, all that beautiful home means (almost, I’ll admit it, almost) nothing. With real beauty comes truth. Rhoda and Erin, to me, are both perfect examples of bloom where you are planted, being true to yourself with what you have. There’s nothing wrong with that. God bless you both.
Rhoda says
Thanks for that comment, Nancy, I love it and it’s so true.
Erin says
Wow Nancy! Thank you. What a kind, beautiful comment. And so true. I have thought many times that as much as I love my new house and am so grateful for it, if I didn’t have my husband and kids living in it with me it would mean nothing. At the end of the day life is about family and friends and relationships. So grateful for caring, honest people like you and Rhoda! The sweet words from both of you made my day. 🙂

There simply isn’t one thing that hasn’t been thought out and done well. What a gorgeous home! It’s one I’m sure so many people would love to replicate. Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe it!!!!

This house is absolutely incredible! I really enjoy the neutral based with pops bright, cheerful colors. I especially noticed how well the theme of the house continued you out to the pool and terrace. Many times people design their outdoor separate, rather than as an extension of there home. This was incredibly well done! Really impressive.
