Since we have just returned from the beach, I don’t have any thrifty treasures to show you today. Actually we got back on Friday and even though it was raining here on Saturday a.m., I did get out and hit a few sales, but it was a bust. I didn’t find much of anything, so I should have stayed home. I’m starting to drag right now on getting out to the yardsales, so I’m going to wrap up the Thrifty Treasures party next weekend and we’ll resume again next Spring. I know many of you want to keep going with it, but I need a break! 🙂 So, come back next weekend for ONE MORE Thrifty Treasures party for this year. I promise, we’ll do it again in the spring! I’ve got lots going on in October (like that Holiday House I’m participating in) and will need to slow it down anyway.
So, this week you get to see some beach pics from me. I’ve got a TON of pics and will have to share them a little at a time over the next week.
This is the third time we’ve stayed at this particular condo complex (in case you want to check it out, Dunes of Seagrove) in Seagrove, FL and even though it rained every other day, we still had some fun and relaxation. With this view, how can you go wrong? We have thoroughly enjoyed staying at these condos since they are tucked away from the main road and they are right on the beach. And they are just down the road from Seaside. It’s not as busy here as it is in Destin. We also have our favorite restaurants which I’ll share in another post. We’ve stayed in 2 different units here and most of them have a great view.
Truly, if you’ve never been to the Gulf in Florida, you are missing out!
The view from balcony.
We met up once again with our friends, Kat and George for a delish Italian dinner. If you haven’t followed this story, Kat and I met through blogging back in 2007 and met up when we went to the beach that year and have been friends ever since. We actually dog sat for their dog, Daisy, last year at their house and had a ball. Kat and I just pick up like old friends when we get together. Blogging truly has been a blessing. I love all the friends I have made! Kat wrote about our shopping trip (click that link) and I’ll get to that later too. Their daughter is getting married in the spring on the beach, so Kat is really busy with planning that.
Sunset outside the condo. I did manage to get one sunset photographed, in spite of the rain.
It’s magical this time of day.
Self-portrait on the beach.
Ahh, what a beautiful sunset.
Along with some shrimp we bought for boiling, but this is the bluefish caught. YUMMY!
So, that’s what I did this week. I’ll share more from the trip later too.
What did YOU do?
Did you get out and about this weekend and find any treasures. You know how it works.
So, get ready to share your treasures too. Remember our guidelines for Mr. Linky parties:
- Enter your permalink to your thrifty post and NOT just your blog url. If you aren’t sure how to do that, please refer back to last week’s party. All links that do not go to your party post will be deleted.
- Please add a link back to THIS post, so that all your readers can find the party and join in or at least read about all the fun that everyone else had, or I’ll have to delete those too.
- If you come back & your link is deleted, it’s because your link was incorrect (and I couldn’t identify it) OR you didn’t link back to this party. Please try again!

Hi, Miss Rhoda! 🙂 Thanks for hosting yet again. I’ll look forward to joining the party next week for the last time til Spring. 🙂
Beautiful beach photos. REALLY makes me wish we’d been able to make it to the family spot in NC, but it’s otherwise occupied. (long story) 😉
Thanks for sharing your trip with those of us who didn’t get to stick our toes in the sand this summer. 🙂

My goodness Mr Linky is acting weird. I had to enter my name 5 times before it finally took. 🙁
Anyway, sad to hear the blog party is ending for the season. But I understand you need a break. Blogging should be fun, not a chore. So you get some much needed rest. We will all miss your parties, but your health is more important to us. Loved the beach pics. Yummy looking dishes too.

Rhoda, Oh what fun you must have had fishing, seeing friends, eating yummy food, and just plain being on the beach! Your hubs is indeed, proud of his catch! I’ve only been to FL one time-and that was years ago. The beach there looks so pretty with that pretty white sand. I’ve gotten used to seeing CA beaches- they’re so different from the ones in FL. Glad you’re back. The hectic season is already starting for me too!

ACK! Now I am going to have Dr. Seuss stuck in my head!
What beautiful pictures of a great trip! The beaches on your side of the country are so different from the ones here in CA. It is like seeing a whole new thing to me.

P.S. no fish tastes as good as those you catch yourself! YUM.

Hi Rhoda
Beautiful beach photos. I think I can alsmost hear the sound of the waves! I am having a welcome fall party on Tuesday. I’d love it if you’d join in. There is a button on my blog.
Thanks again for telling me about Windows Live Writer. It is so easy to use and I love how it makes my pictures bigger.

Beach! What a lovely word and what lovely pictures. I didn’t get a chance to go thrifting either but I convinced myself that a souvenir from London was a frugal idea. Tell me you’d agree with me 🙂

oh, what i wouldn’t give for a trip to the beach right now. my soul yearns for it. thanks so much for posting photos. (although my mind was playing tricks & a couple of the ones of the beach made the sand look like snow!)
glad you got to go & glad you’re back : )

Hi Rhoda,
Welcome back! We missed you but loved your guest writers you left for us so we wouldn’t go through withdrawal…lol.
Love the pictures. You are gorgeous! And who doesn’t love a man with a southern accent, although you are used to it, it was a treat for this California gal to listen to.
Just love ya’ll!

I don’t have anything particularly thrifty to share, but your beach trip looks like a little piece of heaven! I’m glad you had a good time!

Hi Rhoda,
I had a nice long walk on the beach with my daughter this morning, our coast is so different from where you were. That Florida water is so clear and aqua colored – really lovely. Although, I’m not complaining. Just being near the coast is special, and very soothing to look out and see only water for miles and miles….I look forward to seeing more of your travle pics., and boy could I use a vacation myself right now!
Thanks for sharing those!
XO

Loved your tour of the beach! How great! My family used to vacation on the Gulf every year when I was a kid. Seeing those beaches brought back some wonderful memories!
