Since we have just returned from the beach, I don’t have any thrifty treasures to show you today. Actually we got back on Friday and even though it was raining here on Saturday a.m., I did get out and hit a few sales, but it was a bust. I didn’t find much of anything, so I should have stayed home. I’m starting to drag right now on getting out to the yardsales, so I’m going to wrap up the Thrifty Treasures party next weekend and we’ll resume again next Spring. I know many of you want to keep going with it, but I need a break! 🙂 So, come back next weekend for ONE MORE Thrifty Treasures party for this year. I promise, we’ll do it again in the spring! I’ve got lots going on in October (like that Holiday House I’m participating in) and will need to slow it down anyway.
So, this week you get to see some beach pics from me. I’ve got a TON of pics and will have to share them a little at a time over the next week.
This is the third time we’ve stayed at this particular condo complex (in case you want to check it out, Dunes of Seagrove) in Seagrove, FL and even though it rained every other day, we still had some fun and relaxation. With this view, how can you go wrong? We have thoroughly enjoyed staying at these condos since they are tucked away from the main road and they are right on the beach. And they are just down the road from Seaside. It’s not as busy here as it is in Destin. We also have our favorite restaurants which I’ll share in another post. We’ve stayed in 2 different units here and most of them have a great view.
Truly, if you’ve never been to the Gulf in Florida, you are missing out!
The view from balcony.
We met up once again with our friends, Kat and George for a delish Italian dinner. If you haven’t followed this story, Kat and I met through blogging back in 2007 and met up when we went to the beach that year and have been friends ever since. We actually dog sat for their dog, Daisy, last year at their house and had a ball. Kat and I just pick up like old friends when we get together. Blogging truly has been a blessing. I love all the friends I have made! Kat wrote about our shopping trip (click that link) and I’ll get to that later too. Their daughter is getting married in the spring on the beach, so Kat is really busy with planning that.
Sunset outside the condo. I did manage to get one sunset photographed, in spite of the rain.
It’s magical this time of day.
Self-portrait on the beach.
Ahh, what a beautiful sunset.
Along with some shrimp we bought for boiling, but this is the bluefish caught. YUMMY!
So, that’s what I did this week. I’ll share more from the trip later too.
What did YOU do?
Did you get out and about this weekend and find any treasures. You know how it works.
So, get ready to share your treasures too. Remember our guidelines for Mr. Linky parties:
- Enter your permalink to your thrifty post and NOT just your blog url. If you aren’t sure how to do that, please refer back to last week’s party. All links that do not go to your party post will be deleted.
- Please add a link back to THIS post, so that all your readers can find the party and join in or at least read about all the fun that everyone else had, or I’ll have to delete those too.
- If you come back & your link is deleted, it’s because your link was incorrect (and I couldn’t identify it) OR you didn’t link back to this party. Please try again!

It looks like you had such a great time! We always stay at Adagio on 30A in Destin. It’s just up the road from Seaside, too. We love Seaside!
Glad you had fun!

Thanks so much for sharing your vacation pics. You and Kat could almost pass for sisters. Looks like you all had a great time! Thanks so much for all you time and effort in hosting Thrifty Treasures and I look forward to joining the party one more time until Spring.

What a beautiful beach. That sunset photo is amazing.
Just wondered what all the little fences on the sand were for – we don’t have them like that here in Australia.

Hi Rhoda, welcome home. We are leaving for a family beach vacation in 2 weeks and are looking forward to it. Your pics are gorgeous! Thanks for hosting this party so faithfully, and for so long. It really has been one of my favorite (I think I have participated almost every single time!). I’ll look forward to a break in my garage saling, but will continue to enjoy your blog….so many good ideas time after time. Thanks! Linda

oh my friend – it looks like you just had a GORGEOUS week. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and darn it, I didn’t get my pics/post up again. I need to do the week before finds because the items I find on Saturday are always hard pressed to get up by Sunday. Next week I am in for the finale.

well, if mr. linky is still up tomorrow, i’ll show the things i found.
I found an old Lawrence B Smith porringer that I thought would look cute as a wine coaster for 2.00. Oh, and some a Buffalo China mug for 10 cents.
Looks like you had a wonderful trip.
I truly feel blessed that I live at the beach…it so soothes my soul for sure.

The pictures of the dunes and the fish were terrific! Made me want to go for a walk on the beach! Same ocean, just much farther up north.

Now that is a pretty beach! We will have to get together one summer and do what yall did all over again. Marc would love to fish with Peter and catch a few. I dont think I have ever had bluefish. I bet it was some good eatin’! Well Im glad that yall had a great time and took some awesome pictures. Dont feel too bad about the rain. I dont think I have ever been to the beach where it didnt rain. Guess it goes hand in hand. Looking forward to some more pretty pictures and love the videos! I need to do one of those some day. You and Layla make it look so easy and natural~ Missed ya!

Thanks for sharing your beach pics, Rhoda. I particularly L-O-V-E the first one you posted of the sunset at the beach – the sky, the texture of the sand & the half-buried fences really made the “mood” of the pic. I’m not a “beachy” person (my idea of the perfect beach is at Lake Tahoe or Whistler in Canada – I love me some mountains!) but THAT photo called to me. You should convert it to black & white & frame it – it would be stunning in your beachy guest room.
FINALLY finished 3 of my on-going summer over-haul projects I will email photos to you soon – a floor lamp, an antique bench & my “grand opus”, a media center (from 2 bookcases & 2 nightstands). And all because I found a nifty little blog site called Southern Hospitality that gave me the courage to GO FOR IT! Love & Texas Hugs – Christy

Do you realize that you and Kat look like you could be sisters, or maybe even twins? Thanks for the pictures. We were in Destin in June, but you’ve made me want to get in the car and go NOW.

I so love the Gulf beaches. Since I have lived in Atlanta all my life, I’ve spent my share of time down there. My brother and I are going to take our families to the beach for Thanksgiving and we are looking at lots of condos down there. I’m going to email him the name of these and we can research them.
It looks like you had a wonderful time! Thanks for sharing.
