HGTV Dream Home 2014 Tour: Part 2

I shared Part 1 of the beautiful HGTV dream home 2014 in Truckee, CA last week, so today I’m back with the 2nd part of this inspiring and wonderfully built rustic mountain home.  It’s amazing that someone actually will win this, but they will!  I was reading that most all of the dream home winners in the past have ended up selling the home and getting the money out of it and I can certainly understand why.  It would be hard for the average person to afford the taxes and upkeep on a home like this. But, you can bet if I won it, I’d spend a good long vacation out there and take all my friends with me!

Wouldn’t that be fun?

master bedroom

The master bedroom is spacious and beautifully appointed.

master sitting

The interior design in the house is just beautiful. I love the colors used against the rustic backdrop of the house.

master bed

Master bed all decked out with pretty linens.

master chairs

TV hung on the wall and a sitting area.

master chairs and drapes

Sitting area with fireplace.

master tub

Master bathroom with a soaking tub. Ahh, yes!

master shower

Beautiful glass shower.

tub and shelves

A modern chrome bookcase holds plenty of towels and accessories.

master vanity

Master vanity

master vanity 2

Floral on the vanity

master flowers

More flowers by the soaking tub.

master vanity caddy

Rolled towels on a cute vanity shelf.

hall table

Hallway nook with console table and stools underneath.

stairs

Stairs going up to 2nd level.

upstairs hallway

Hallway and nook at the top of the stairs.

upstairs lighting

Lighting overhead

upstairs cabinet

Cabinet in the hallway outside the kid’s bunk room.

kids bunkroom

I loved this colorful kid’s bunkroom.  How fun and happy is this?

kids room 2

Wonderful details in here that any kid would love.

kids room 3

From the bold striped rug to the happy reds all around, it’s a beautiful space.

kids bunk

Bunk detail.

kids room 4

Closet door

kids room 5

Posters and red pinecones on a rustic trunk.

clocks

TV watching for every bunkie (wow!) and clocks for all time zones.

kids bathroom

Kid’s bathroom.

kids ceiling

Loved this curtain detail at the entrance to the room. Note the soaring ceilings with beams again.

bunks

Such a cool kids space.

media room

Down the hall is another family room/media space done in orange and gray.

media room2

A happy mix of modern and traditional fabrics.

media room3

Note the menswear plaids on the chairs and more rustic wood accents on the walls.  Will we see this trend in blogland?  Who knows?  Probably not at my house, but it looks really cool in this setting.

Media center

Large TV in here with lots of seating.

media room sofa

L-shaped orange leather sectional.

pillows

Pillows are so pretty.

wood on wall

Close up detail of the wood squares on the wall.  Wonder how hard this was to install?  I wouldn’t want that job.

light fixture

Beautiful lighting and more of that stunning beam and metal bolts detail.

guest room

A guestroom is also upstairs, just big enough to enjoy.

guest room 2

Pretty orange and brown and cream linens.

guestroom 3

A rustic clock above the side table.

guest room 4

With a TV and chest at the end of the bed.

view from window

And this gorgeous view outside the windows. Yes, please!

guest bath

Guestbath is beautiful too.

gmc cars (2)

And that wraps up the pics I took of the HGTV Dream Home 2014.  What an awesome trip it was and such a fun opportunity to take a Dream Drive with GMC and their beautiful Denali cars.

truckee CA

We also had lunch in nostalgic Truckee, CA, a cute little down.

Christmas tree truckee

Large Christmas tree in the middle of town all decorated for Christmas.

truckee Ca street

On the sidewalk in Truckee.

bar america

We had lunch here at Bar of America and it was delish. All the food we had on our trip was SO good.  I love to eat good food, all kinds.

lake tahoe

On our way back to the Hyatt, we drove by Lake Tahoe just in time to stop and take some sunset pics that afternoon.  The end to a beautiful day in CA.

sunset lake tahoe

Gorgeous sunset over Lake Tahoe.

lake tahoe sunset

I would love to go back there one day. Maybe I will!

I dearly love to travel and see new places and blogging has taken me places I never dreamed I would go.  I can’t wait to see what this year holds for me and this blog.  Three years ago, I surely never dreamed I’d be where I am now.  Footloose and fancy free, enjoying life and traveling all over the place.  Thank you ALL for coming along with me and watching me live my dreams, as I share them here on this blog.

2014 is going to be amazing, I can just feel it now!

Note:  This trip was a sponsored trip by GMC and all travel expenses were paid for by GMC.

I absolutely love this house, and so does my husband. The media room decor is awesome, so glad Linda deviated away from her usual blues everywhere! I want to do that wall treatment with the wood blocks, what a statement-maker. Like you, I would love to spend a week there if I won, but I understand it’s not possible. I don’t remember why, but it has something to do with selling it afterwards. What a super home though! Thanks for the photos!

Rhoda, you are so blessed to get to go and do the things that you do! I sign up for this house everyday! I wish I could just have all the furnishings…Wouldn’t that be fun?!?! I’m so pleased that you took pictures bc you don’t really get close ups checking it out online, they aren’t that close up. I was hoping you would take pics of the master closet. Was the closet huge? Not that it matters, but a girl can dream, right? Good Times…Thanks for sharing ;-D

Hey, Melesa, glad you enjoyed the pics! I really don’t remember much about the closet, it was a whirlwind of info to take in. I’m sure it was nice though!

    Hey Rhonda
I am looking at a couch on Josh and main, but hesitate because no reviews about quality, do you have any experience with their pieces?

HI, Anita, I haven’t tried any furniture except for a small accent chair. It’s definitely not high end, but cute and functional for what I needed. I’m not sure what to tell you on furniture pieces if there aren’t reviews out there.

Thank you for sharing Rhoda, I do love the bathroom but for some reason the bedrooms don’t quite do it for me, I think a little loud with their design for a place that should be somewhere restful, well for me that is. But everyone to their own taste and I guess this is a show home anyway.

Lovely pictures of a beautiful house. Sometimes houses in the mountains are stuck in the 80’s (or earlier) without the benefit of being traditional. Loved the orange and gray media room – the plaid made it for me. (Couldn’t live with it day after day though).

Where did you find the mirror for above the bed in the master bedroom? I love it!

    Hi,

I was wondering if you, or anyone knows where the vanity shelf is from in the master bath? I LOVE it, and have searched every viable website I can think of for it, or something similar!

    Thanks,
    Lindsey

HI, Lindsey, sorry I don’t know any details on items in the house.
