It’s time once again for the annual Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Home for the Holidays showhouse and I was invited to preview last week and I’ve got all the scoop for you. I really enjoyed this year’s house, it’s mostly Traditional and classic style and I think you’ll enjoy it too.
I noticed lots of wallpaper, beautiful finishes, and a timeless feel in most of the spaces. That was refreshing and this is the type of house that I love to tour and see in person. There’s color, as well as some more neutral spaces, but overall a really lovely home with lots of great design inspiration.
The house this year is a newly built shingle style Nantucket cottage by Harrison Design, KBD Development & Construction, and The Jane Group. The 6,500 s.f. residence is in Ivy Ridge, an enclave of new luxury homes. With 6 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms, it’s a spacious home for sure. The design of the house marries Arts & Crafts style of a 1950’s beach house with the distinctive roof and dormer seen in Dutch Colonial homes and a formal limestone Italianate entry.
The house will be open until December 6th and you can find ticket information here at the website.

The house exterior is so pretty and I love the arched glass front doors. The shingles and limestone facade is a great combination. Don’t you love the swags and bows of garland? And the huge jingle bells are so unique and pretty. This entry is perfection!
All the rest of these pictures are mine, so I hope you enjoy.
Exterior Design: Randy Korando & Dan Belman, Boxwoods Gardens & Gifts
Those jingle bells are just gorgeous!
It’s just gorgeous!
The front door looking out to the front entry. I’m not going to talk about all the spaces, but will chime in on a few that I loved. Enjoy the tour! I’ll share all the designers who did each space as we move through the house.

Study: Courtney Giles Decker, Courtney Giles Interiors
Dining Room: Mallory Mathison Glenn, Mallory Mathison Inc.
I really liked how colorful and unique the dining room was. I heard that the wallpaper in here didn’t come in time so I think it was the designer’s mom who came in and hand painted the mural. It adds so much to the room.
Butler’s Pantry: Courtney Shearer, The Designery
Kitchen & Breakfast Room: Janie Wilburn, The Jane Group
Covered Porch: Sande Beck, Sande Beck Design
Scullery, Dog Wash & Mudroom: Courtney Shearer, The Designery
Living Room: Patricia McLean, Patricia McLean Interiors Inc.
I really loved Patricia’s space and told her how much I loved it as a classic and timeless design with Traditional style. She beamed when I said that I’m so glad to see Traditional styles in showhouses and I told her my readers would love her room too.
The colors and textures were so pretty.
I loved the mossy green sofa.
Hallway to master bedroom suite.
Bar in Master Bedroom foyer.

Stairhall, Upstairs Landing & Laundry: Kit Castaldo, Kit Castaldo Design
Upstairs Hall & Sitting Area: Trudy Stump, Heather Parker, & Wren Caples, Huff Harrington Design

This was the sweetest space, I loved it! So pretty with the colors and all the details and wallpaper.
Bedroom: Cate Dunning & Lathem Gordon, GordonDunning
I thought the wallpaper was a fun touch throughout. And notice this area had painted trim instead of white. Nice touch.
Beautiful Roman shade.

You are 100% right about the living room – it is perfect!!!

Some parts are very nice but most of it seems very disjointed, there is no flow. The kitchen looks like it should be in a different house all together. The dining room looks small with a table set for eight in a house with six bedrooms no less. While I love “fancy”this is over the top even for me. I agree with you on the green sofa, I think it was the best the house had to offer. Not sure who would ever live here but it’s certainly not for me!

I like to always remind people that showhouses are just that, a combination of designers who come together to decorate a house in a way that they see fit and the style and color they wish to portray. It doesn’t always flow with the other spaces, but I can appreciate looking at all of the ideas as they collectively come together. I really enjoyed this one.

I like this one better than any of the show houses you’ve shared. I love the dining room! I liked it all except for the modern art. Love all the wallpaper and so glad to see a house with color!!

Some rooms were lovely and some were over decorated. I couldn’t decide where to look…just too much going on.

So many gorgeous details to take in! Yes, that living room is amazing!

Ditto…these has to be one of the most beautiful show houses you have featured! The exterior gave me a Nantucket French vibe and the garland and wreaths that adorned the home were just stunning! Usually, in most of the show case homes, I will like one or two rooms and the rest leaves me unimpressed or totally not my style.
However, I was overwhelmed how each of the designers styled every room in this house and the more traditional decor used. I loved all the touches of chinoserie and the dining room and nursery had to be two of my favorite. Kuddos to all the designers who did a beautiful job of making this house look like a home. One of my favorite traditions at Christmas was going on a Holiday home tour and that probably wont be happening this year with COVID so this was the next best thing!

Some interesting ideas here. I love the enourmous jingle bells! I wonder where they were found.

Wow! Lots of nuggets of goodness to look at in this house! The jingle bells are fantastic! Love, love, love the nursery and living room!!!! Lots of cool ceiling treatments – dining room, living room, blue bedroom. The faucet in the scullery is awesome! Love the color in the library and on the cabinets in the mudroom. And the giant cow with bangs in the upstairs apartment is great!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!

I agree a show home decorated by multiple designers will not necessarily flow into one another but some of these rooms were way over the top. Many beautiful items but too much overcrowding.. Sadly the beautiful dining room table etc set with an eclectic amount of china (loved the Mikado) reminded me of an auction house setting/sale. Loved the hand painted murals but the drapes were more suited for a cottage..I would have preferred something a little more formal. The master bedroom was a little too busy for my taste not peaceful . I hope you don’t mind my comments. They are just my opinion. Other than that the house is beautiful and I love the wrought iron doors…Thank you for featuring your photos..

Thank you so much for sharing. I loved all the rooms. I gasped when I saw the picture by the tub in the master bathroom. It was all so luxurious. The hank you again

I love it, it’s over the top,but I love it. Kudos to the designer’s mother for painting the dining room walls. She did an amazing job. The sliding doors to the covered porch is exquisite. The dog picture in the pet bath is adorable. The living room is so tasteful and love the couch without back pillows. I love it!!! Thank you for these beautiful pictures.

Another great job by Boxwood Gardens! Outdoor decorations go perfectly with the style and coloring of the house exterior. Inside, I think it’s a nice combination of color and neutrals. There is a lot going on stylewise but like you said, it’s a style showcase so I guess that’s to be expected. Fun to see.

I love all of this home. I especially like how the color is used. I have made up my mind about wall paper. I want it now. Thank you so much for the share and the wonderful pictures so we can see every detail. Now will go back and look again.

Rhoda! What an amazing show house! 6500 soft … wow! I love everything about this house … the wallpaper, draperies and area rugs. Wow. I did a lot of pinning and got some great ideas for my holiday decor. I wish I could fly to Atlanta and see it for myself. Thanks for the wonderful tour! xo

I was truly intrigued by this post, Rhoda! Thanks for sharing it. What a “gallery” of experimentation! Here’s my impression:
The exterior entrance: over the top GORGEOUS! Love the gigantic bell theme!
Entry hall: Wall color hits me in the face like a cream pie. I get what they were going for, picking up the color on the porcelain, but whoa… give me a little room to breathe before I get assaulted.
Christmas tree in the well thought out, beautiful study: neglected afterthought.
Dining room: Now, I love bright pops of color, just not all over-the-top in one room. I would not be able to relax and enjoy a meal with friends in this room. The table is waaaay too busy. Everything fights for attention. However, the hand-painted mural is gorgeous. Should have set the mood for the whole room!
I ABSOLUELY ADORED the mudroom! Lovely cabinet doors – an upscale from “shaker style”. Yet simple, easy to clean, and homey-chic. Also – LOVE the pup portrait!
Living Room: Lovely nod to Americana!!! Not my style, but VERY well done! Subtle colors that welcome the guest and invite conversation in comfort. LOVE IT!
Master Foyer Bar: Shelf below the painting – take out the candlesticks and the dog. Now you have a focal point painting. Bar top – Take out the double pictures. That silver champagne bucket says it all. And the brass lamp has nothing to do with this story at all. I has to go. Move the board over to link to the bucket. Eliminate the (whatever it is) porcelain object next to the plant, and make a grouping of champagne flutes with the bucket, plus a nice pop of green from the plant. REALLY, less IS more!
Master Bedroom: I LOVE the wallpaper all the way to the top of the ceiling! This room is so chic and tranquil! – – UNTIL – you get to the mirror above the bed – – OH that has to go! One big screeching hole over a gorgeously appointed bed.
I love the painting hung in the window…but there again – too many unimportant chachkies fighting for attention surrounding it. Let the expensive painting deliver! The artist deserves to be adored. And, all the gradoo on that lovely table, takes away from the simple elegance of the table itself.
I really LOVE that awesome triptych in the Stair Hall!!!!
GORGEOUS terracotta art on that charcoal hall wall upstairs! Totally rocks with the flooring, the room color across from it, and the exterior wall frame color at the end view of it. Lovely job!
OH!!! AND that uber-lovely nursery with its beautiful wisteria wallpaper….perfect furniture, perfect art, perfect tree…..drapes, rug, bedding! Everything in this room is perfection in a nursery!
Well, that’s all I have to say, except – – I would LOVE to live in that Upstairs Apartment! Heck, I would love a whole house designed around that apartment! Awesome colors and comfort.
Thanks for the peek into the Home for the Holidays Showhouse 2020.

Agree that show homes are just that and some are over the top. I almost screamed when I saw that huge painting by the tub! That would not make for a relaxing bath and then that ridiculous too tall lamp on the vanity! Then I got a chuckle when I saw the laundry room Christmas tree right in front of the dryer door. I know it’s just for ideas, but still had to laugh. I love to go to show homes but with Covid there have been none here. I’m so surprised they are allowing folks to traipse through a home there.

The entryway, & dining room, and few other areas in this home remind me a lot of a blogger I have followed for years Jennifer w/Dimples & Tangles. My favorite rooms inside were the living room, and the bedroom with the blue ceiling everything except the chandelier. I loved the outside decorations. Thanks for sharing
Rhoda says
HI, Wendy, Jennifer is a friend of mine & yes this color scheme is similar to her look too.

Thank you for sharing! I think there are one or two ideas I could take from almost every room! That’s what I love about designer showcase homes over one designer homes; no one person can come up with so many ideas interesting for one house.
As soon as someone finds a way to DIY recreate those giant jingle bells in an affordable way let me know!!
