So hard to believe it’s November already … on Halloween I saw Christmas decor in all of the decor store windows. Oh my goodness … let’s get through Thanksgiving!!! Love of this Saturday home inspiration! xo

Long time follower, from the beginning. Sadly, as I age, I can no longer enjoy my favorite bloggers as my eyes and brain cannot handle the constant bombardment of ads, now in video form, popping up simultaneously in my face. The more you delete, the more reappear. I know you need to make some form of return on your time and talent, but yikes! Will miss you greatly. Thank you.

HI, Cathy, I’m so sorry to hear that. I know that ads can be annoying and I’ve tried to minimize any pop ups of ads on my site. I check it regularly on my Mac, Iphone, and my hubby’s Ipad to see what is happening and usually things can be x’d out. So sorry but I can’t stop the ads on my blog.
Cheryl says
I agree with Cathy, I really enjoy your blog but will stop looking at it. I no longer enjoy reading it because of the constant ads. It takes me 3 x as long to read one post as I have to constantly X out of pop ups or my fingers accidentally hit something as I am scrolling and I get sent to a sponsors site. I have followed your blog since your days in Birmingham when your wrote of what you truly enjoyed and found instead of those things you are getting paid to promote. I miss the days of “true blogging” instead of “paid influencing”. Thanks for all the inspirational ideas over the years and I hope your successful with your new format of promoting yourself and your “blog”.

HI, Cheryl, I hear you loud and clear. The good ole days of blogging are gone and now we must navigate today. I’m so very grateful I can make a living doing what I love to do. I still love sharing projects with all of you and that’s what got me started blogging, talking about decorating and things around the house. It has changed ad we are making a nice living and ads are part of that. I see the ads too and can usually close them and read just fine. This is not a new format. Ads have been happening for years as have sponsored posts.
Nancy says
Well, you may not want to hear this but I use AdBlock Plus on Firefox and I don’t see a single ad. In fact, it says only 2 were blocked. I couldn’t deal with any site without an adblocker.
I feel kinda bad, people need to make a living. I love reading your blog. I hope I am not hurting your business.
Rhoda says
Hi, Nancy, I know many people used Ad blockers and I’m fine with that. I’d rather you come here and use an ad blocker than not come at all!

Blogging has certainly changed over the years and not all for the better at least not for readers. I think its been a big win for bloggers earning a living blogging though. My goodness, the products some bloggers are receiving doing sponsored posts is like being on a big game show every week and winning the showcase. To be honest, I skip most sponsored posts because they are so overused now. I realize blogging is a real job and bloggers deserve to earn a living like anyone else but sometimes I wish we could go back to the early days of blogging before the genie was let out of the bottle.

Hi, Teresa, it has changed so much and there’s a lot of it I don’t love either. I know that readers must feel and see that too. I’m very grateful for all of you who take the time to come and read my blog and I’m also very grateful that I can make a great living as a blogger. It’s been a huge blessing for me.
