Hi friends! Hope your Halloween weekend is a fun one. We don’t do much at all for Halloween, truthfully I’m always glad when it’s over. It’s not my favorite holiday. I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas and the best thing about October is the turning fall leaves. It’s been glorious this year, all the color! Enjoy these shares today for Home Style Saturday. We have classic Thanksgiving tablescape, pretty charcuterie centerpiece, how to decoupage oyster shells, ideas for setting the perfect Thanksgiving table, and 50 gorgeous Christmas wreaths. Hope you enjoy!
Sorry you don’t enjoy Halloween. I find it’s my favorite holiday, except maybe for Thanksgiving. Christmas to me wore itself out over the years (I’m not referring to the religious aspect). Too much, too early, for too long. I’m from a very small family and always felt we never “lived up” to the expectations and experiences of larger ones. I still decorate some with a tree and all, but nowhere near how I used to. Truthfully I’d rather spend Christmas on a warm beach in Florida but even that is not going to be easy now.
I know we all have different memories of holidays. I did enjoy Halloween more when I was a kid, of course. It was all about candy, but as I’ve gotten older it seems to have taken on a more sinister tone. So I’d just as soon skip right over it.

I agree with Rhoda about Halloween. I want truth and beauty in my life and Halloween decor is not beautiful and it is everywhere for months. Obviously I don’t understand the attraction.
Re: the decoupaged oyster shells, I brought everything to make those on our family 4th of July. (I’m tired of painting rocks). We had lots of fun but they weren’t as beautiful as these!
I absolutely love Halloween. I do love Thanksgiving, too only because there is no pressure involved like there is for Christmas. Christmas is not my favorite holiday, I love to see it done and gone. I’m a Christmas day baby so it was never special holiday to me since I always received a birthday/Christmas gift (although, very grateful for all I have received) or my birthday was forgotten entirely (except for the religious aspect of it, I do love it). Christmas was nice when my children were younger, but they’re older now and it’s not as exciting. i do love looking at all holiday decorations and how other decorate, so please keep sharing. Thanks!
Not a fan of Halloween. Truly, how can it be considered a holiday? Too many grown ups obviously need to find something better to do with their time and money. Let the kids have their one night fun and call it done. Christmas used to be filled with so much excitement and family time. Now, not so much. Our parents are long gone. My aunts and uncles are all gone. My numerous cousins are now spread out over the map. My siblings (and myself) are facing growing health and mobility issues, and our grands are not interested in spending time at our house. It is rather challenging emotionally. To everyone: enjoy your Christmas holidays in your 20’s and 30’s when your children are young and your parents have their health. It will end some day. I do love the fact that we celebrate the birth of our Savior during the season, so it’s not all gloom and doom. 🙂
Becky, I know these things can be tough. Mark and I talk about getting older all the time, we can’t believe we are where we are, but we must go forward. It can be sad though looking back to what used to be. We do have to look at the bright side for sure!

I agree, it is my least favorite special day, didn’t like it as a child either. Love Valentines Day!
