Last week was devoted entirely to Haven for me and I have been completely exhausted after a week of running like crazy, but my daddy was hard at work at the house, getting a couple more things accomplished. I’ll do a recap on Haven on Tuesday and it was SO fabulous, I hardly have words to express it all. I’m still on a Haven high! I did get some great sleep last night, so I’m feeling like a human being again.
But, back to the house. So many wonderful girls from Haven asked me about the house and told me how excited they are for me and this house.  They asked me if I was bringing my mom and dad to Haven, but I didn’t get them there. Everyone wanted to meet them, but they would have been so out of their element!
Here’s the little back door that goes outside from my laundry room/storage area downstairs. My daddy is one who loves to put a roof over a doorway like this. He likes to protect doors from the elements and they definitely do last longer when protected from the weather. So, with my Lowes Creative Ideas blogging opportunity for June, we are going to add a cover over this door.
He went and bought lumber to get started and this was the very beginning that I snapped pics of at dusk one afternoon. That daddy of mine is so good at all of this and I’m grateful to have him.
He framed in the top and sloped a short roof. We’ll eventually put a metal roof on top.
And here it is all framed in and almost finished. The metal roof will go on top of this and it will all get painted out white.  Note:  we ended up using shingles and not a metal roof, which worked out great too.

I love it, it’s so cute and will look so great when painted. Now hopefully this door will not get water damage. We had noticed that a bit of water comes in by this door when it rains, so it will be interesting to see if this stops it. Hope so!
I never showed you the finished master bedroom paint, so here is Moderate White (SW) again. I’m keeping my bedroom light and airy too and will probably keep my blue and white and add some green splashes in here. Lots of greens and blues in this house this time around. Love those 2 colors together.
Another thing my dad got done was tearing out the old vanity sink cabinet from in here. This will be a great space for my antique vanity.
Can’t wait to use it!

I’m loving the house so far, it is so much fun to see it come alive. I know you all are so excited for me. And a big shout out to Lowes for providing a giftcard for this project. That has been such a help to me to get this house finished.
If I win, I would get some fruit bushes for the side yard! I would love to have my own berries growing every year at my house 🙂

I have so many outdoor projects to do.
1. Repair the threshold under my side door.
2. Repair rotten wood under my doorwall.
3. Build stairs from my doorwall to the back yard.
4. Paint for the outside of my home.
5. Repair bricks on my home.
My needs are more basic then “fun” & a gift card would really help out.
We just bought a new house that’s only 3 years old but we have two huge decks that need resealed and stained. Your house is looking fabulous! Keep up the good work!

The better questions for me is where would I start. I have many things that need to be done. I’ve just started sanding the deck so I can stain & seal it. Then I want to add a walkway from the deck to the tool shed. Oh, & I want to add a patio w/ a fire pit. Once those things are done I’ll need to landscape. These are just a few of the things going on in my head right now for the back yard. Don’t get me started on the front. Ugh! That’s ok, b/c it’s ALL mine & it doesn’t have to be 100 % complete now. 🙂

I am redo-ing a bedroom for my 13 year old son, Wes, as he anticipates having scoliosis surgery in October and we need a new set-up for him to be comfortable as he rehabs. We need a ceiling fan in his new room. I promised to paint it (the green the previous owners put in the room could keep you awake at night). And, I know Lowes carries a good selection of window treatments to help me make the room look more like one for a 13 year old boy.
Your daddy reminds me so much of my daddy. Nothing he wouldn’t do for his “baby girl”. You’re lucky to have him nearby…I’m in Oklahoma and my daddy is in North Carolina. I would use the gift card to purchase stone pavers to put in the yard/path from my back porch to the fenced area where my bird feeders are located.
I would love to add some plants, flowers, and mulch to some of our sad looking flower beds!
I’d update the front porch furniture with new paint and maybe some new hanging baskets.
To win Lowe’s gift would be awesome to help “pretty” my back yard patio by staining the cement, adding stones, flowers and some bark to get ready for my sister reunion (10 of us).

Your home is beautiful. I look forward to having a home one day, my husband is in the military and we haven’t settled anywhere we have wanted to buy. I would get some flowers for outside and a rolling shade for my porch, to deflect the hot New Mexico sun. I’m looking forward to more updates.
