Inspiring Lamps and a Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

The Winner is #331, Heidi!  Congrats, Heidi, you’ve got mail!

Lamps are one of the easiest things to change out in a room to make a big difference in the feel. I went through the really traditional lamp season, of iron base and bell shaped shades, but the last 3 or 4 years, I’ve transitioned over to drum shades and a more electic vibe with my table lamps and I love the changes.  I’m happy that lamp manufacturers have given us so many pretty lamps to choose from the last few years.  Before that, I remember having a hard time finding pretty lamps that were affordable.

I’ll show you a few of mine that I’ve had for a few years.

yardsale lamp

I found this one at a yardsale for $5 and got rid of the monstrously big shade that came with it and found the replacement shade at a thriftstore.  I recovered it in this pretty black and cream damask and have enjoyed it for a long time.  I might be ready for an update on the fabric pretty soon, since I have some burlap that would work perfectly.  I love the glass base with gold accents and it’s a very tall stately lamp.

mercury glass

Another find in my living room is this mercury glass lamp that I got from Homegoods.  It’s petite and fits nicely on this glass and iron side table from Ballards.

black metal

More lamps around my house. I love mixing them up and using different colors and shades all around. I try to keep my shades fairly neutral for the most part and notice I love the drum shades. Something about this shape really appeals to me and it modernizes a room so much.

black metal lamp

Another little vignette in my den area has another metal based lamp and drum shade.  I’m still working on the den, but I’ll show you some progress down here next week.  It will be awhile before I get this room totally finished and I’m still using part of it for storage of accessories.

gray with burlap shades

Another great find were these lamps from Kirklands that I found just after moving in my house.  I absolutely love the wooden bases, the gray ceramic vase shape and the burlap drum shades. This pair was the perfect complement on my sideboard in the dining room, pulling in the gray paint in here and the colors from the curtains. They were meant to be!

Speaking of Kirklands, if you haven’t shopped there for lamps lately, they have really upped their game in lamp selections and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the ones they have. You can shop online or at their store and they have a ton of lamps on sale all the time.

glass lamp with burlap shade from Kirklands

Kirklands sent me a new lamp to try out in my house and I absolutely love it.  This big glass base is slightly vintage looking and the glass is sort of seeded and old looking on a wooden neutral base.  I really love the large drum shade covered in burlap.

large glass lamp

It’s a great fit on my coffee table in the den, very large and distinct and the style fits right in with my Traditional furnishings in here.  At 32” tall, it’s a large one!

Here’s some great news too. Kirklands wants to give ONE of my readers one of these lamps too.  Yippee!! I love when I can share the fun with all of you and I’m so excited to be able to give one of you this lamp too.  It will be sent directly to your home all packed up nice and neat in 2 boxes.

All you have to do is visit the Kirklands website, look at their lamps and leave a comment, telling me which one is your fave!

And tell me where you’ll put this new lamp if you’re the fortunate winner?!  That’s it, I’ll choose a winner in a few days and you’ll get your very own beautiful glass lamp with burlap shade too.  How fun is that?

Note: I was given a free lamp from Kirklands, but wasn’t paid for this post.

I like the Crystal Bronze table lamp. It’s a bit sleeker than the one I have in my bedroom and would take up less space on the night stand. A lot of people like to read at night but I like to do stitchery, so the taller lamp makes it easier to see.

I love the antler table lamp. It would look great in my log house. If I win the glass table lamp, I will put it in the family room. It would also look great, Thanks.

Wow- I haven’t been to Kirkland’s in awhile so I’m pleasantly surprised at how good the lamps look!
I was hard to narrow it down to just one, so I picked the turquoise glass lamp or the bronze clear glass lamp. I’m currently renovating my basement into a new studio space, so would love one of those lamps there!

i love the open base glass lamp. i am going to turn a room into a man-cave for my hubby. it opens into our dining room so i’d like it to have great eye appeal. i could see this lamp with baseballs stacked under it. it’s also not too feminine for my hubby but also appeals to me.

Rhoda, thanks so much for directing us to the Kirkland website. We don’t have Kirkland in my area so knowing it’s out there and available is a great find for me. The sale prices are fantastic, which means we can all get more bang for our buck! I love the Blue Hobnail lamp and can see a pair of them at bedside in my master that I’m just finishing a redo on. It is the perfect color to set off everything else in the room.

I love all the lamps at Kirkland’s. We have one close that I check out at least once a month! My favorite on the website right now is the Turnstyle Table Lamp # 115078. I first noticed the button and pleated shade, very unique. I love interesting lampshades. It has a gold liner which produces such lovely light AND a three way socket.
I would probably use it in the sunroom because of the rustic quality, although it could go in several rooms in my home. Hope I win it! Love your Blog and Your Story. You should write a book now that the worst is behind you!

What a fun giveaway! 🙂 I like the bronze clear glass table lamp the best. However, the giveaway is such a close second it is almost too hard to choose. If I were to win I have a small round table next to a chair in our master bedroom that is just screaming for a lamp. This one would be perfect 🙂

Rhoda, thank you for the opportunity to win a lamp from Kirklands! That store and Home Goods are both wonderful!!!! I am needing lamps, and have been looking . . . 1st, I love the neutral clear glass lamp. It would look PERFECT in my living room. I also like the Lockhart tan table lamp, and possibly the gray driftwood knot table lamp, for my bedrooms. What a wonderful giveaway!!! Hope I win!!! 😉 😉 😉

So many lamps to choose from, however, if I had to choose the Green Hobnail table lamp would be my number one pick. I’m updating my living room and think these would be a wonderful pop of color against my reds and cremes.
