Inspiring Lamps and a Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

The Winner is #331, Heidi!  Congrats, Heidi, you’ve got mail!

Lamps are one of the easiest things to change out in a room to make a big difference in the feel. I went through the really traditional lamp season, of iron base and bell shaped shades, but the last 3 or 4 years, I’ve transitioned over to drum shades and a more electic vibe with my table lamps and I love the changes.  I’m happy that lamp manufacturers have given us so many pretty lamps to choose from the last few years.  Before that, I remember having a hard time finding pretty lamps that were affordable.

I’ll show you a few of mine that I’ve had for a few years.

yardsale lamp

I found this one at a yardsale for $5 and got rid of the monstrously big shade that came with it and found the replacement shade at a thriftstore.  I recovered it in this pretty black and cream damask and have enjoyed it for a long time.  I might be ready for an update on the fabric pretty soon, since I have some burlap that would work perfectly.  I love the glass base with gold accents and it’s a very tall stately lamp.

mercury glass

Another find in my living room is this mercury glass lamp that I got from Homegoods.  It’s petite and fits nicely on this glass and iron side table from Ballards.

black metal

More lamps around my house. I love mixing them up and using different colors and shades all around. I try to keep my shades fairly neutral for the most part and notice I love the drum shades. Something about this shape really appeals to me and it modernizes a room so much.

black metal lamp

Another little vignette in my den area has another metal based lamp and drum shade.  I’m still working on the den, but I’ll show you some progress down here next week.  It will be awhile before I get this room totally finished and I’m still using part of it for storage of accessories.

gray with burlap shades

Another great find were these lamps from Kirklands that I found just after moving in my house.  I absolutely love the wooden bases, the gray ceramic vase shape and the burlap drum shades. This pair was the perfect complement on my sideboard in the dining room, pulling in the gray paint in here and the colors from the curtains. They were meant to be!

Speaking of Kirklands, if you haven’t shopped there for lamps lately, they have really upped their game in lamp selections and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the ones they have. You can shop online or at their store and they have a ton of lamps on sale all the time.

glass lamp with burlap shade from Kirklands

Kirklands sent me a new lamp to try out in my house and I absolutely love it.  This big glass base is slightly vintage looking and the glass is sort of seeded and old looking on a wooden neutral base.  I really love the large drum shade covered in burlap.

large glass lamp

It’s a great fit on my coffee table in the den, very large and distinct and the style fits right in with my Traditional furnishings in here.  At 32” tall, it’s a large one!

Here’s some great news too. Kirklands wants to give ONE of my readers one of these lamps too.  Yippee!! I love when I can share the fun with all of you and I’m so excited to be able to give one of you this lamp too.  It will be sent directly to your home all packed up nice and neat in 2 boxes.

All you have to do is visit the Kirklands website, look at their lamps and leave a comment, telling me which one is your fave!

And tell me where you’ll put this new lamp if you’re the fortunate winner?!  That’s it, I’ll choose a winner in a few days and you’ll get your very own beautiful glass lamp with burlap shade too.  How fun is that?

Note: I was given a free lamp from Kirklands, but wasn’t paid for this post.

Good Morning Rhoda, I absolutely love your lamp. I have slowly started to redecorate my living room and I love all the new ways to incorporate burlap into your home decor. I have used it with my drop cloth curtains and in my sofa pillows. I have a sage green sofa which I can’t change out at this time and I have found that the burlap compliments it very well. The only thing I have not found is a lamp for the sofa table and I was immediately drawn to the (Sand Dune Table Lamp) at Kirklands and have been eyeing it for quite some time.. It would be beautiful on my sofa table and a wonderful addition to my redecorating project.

I love your lamps. Thanks for the give a way! So many to chose from but I love the open base glass lamp. I could place different objects under the base to change it up. Or the Sea Shell lamp. I am all about the beach. Thanks again, I love your blog.

I loveeee Kirkland’s!! There are so many great lamps to choose from, but to be completely honest, I’d choose the glass lamp with the burlap shade. I’ve recently purchased my first home and it would go perfect with the decor in my living room. Thanks for sharing all of your great ideas. I’d love to be the winner 🙂

I really like the Sandy Blue Glass Table Lamp. My dining room does not have very good lighting, and it would go perfect on the mantle above the fireplace in my dining room!

Perfect timing! We’re renovating a recently purchased home, and I’ve just been thinking that I would love to have a new lamp (or 3!) when we finally get to move in. I love Kirklands, and I love their Black Damask Buffet Lamp. Thanks for the give-away!

I’m loving the “smoke glass & chrome” lamp that has that gorgeous silver drum shade. Think I need 2 of them for my bedside tables. This glass lamp with the burlap shade would look perfect in my family room where I try to achieve a casual comfy “Pottery Barn” kind of vibe. 🙂

Timing, timing, timing. Right now I’m sitting in my favorite chair in our office/media room. These past few weeks I’ve realized the need for a lamp by this chair so I can see to read a good book……

Love Kirklands and love the unique shade on the Sand Dune Table Lamp.

We just bought our very first home last month after renting for 15 years. I just love your site and the inspiration for my own home. I have always been a safe color person but am trying to break out and be more bold. My living room has some green in it but I would like to bring in more blue. I just love the Turquoise Glass Table Lamp! I looked at all the other blue ones but just love this style. Thank you for your generosity! I just love southern hospitality. We moved to Texas in 2009 and it has been wonderful. Thanks again!
