It’s been such a joy to me in blogland for the past 7 years, watching my blog friends grow and seeing their success along with my own. Most of us who started blogging way back then are still going strong and still love this thing called blogging. It certainly has changed my life in so many profound ways and I’m still grateful every single day that I get to spend time with women all over the country, because of this blog. One of my long time friends in blogging, is Myquillyn Smith, also known as The Nester. She dubbed herself that early on, as she was fearful of sharing her real (unusual) name with the world wide web.
Her blog, the Nesting Place, encourages women to create a beautiful home without worrying about perfection. Who has time for that? Myquillyn put herself out there, sharing her window mistreatments, her hot glued pillows, letting women know that they could do things in their home all by themselves, using the budgets they had and that yes, indeed, it could be beautiful. Beauty is the in eye of the beholder and it definitely doesn’t have to have an expensive price tag.

The online world we live in can really suck the joy out of our own homes. Now that we can actually see millions of homes across the world just by clicking around the web, all of those perfect images can make us feel inadequate and our homes unworthy. But, we all know that isn’t real life. We all have to embrace our own homes and find the beauty in everything we surround ourselves with.
I’ve really enjoyed reading Nester’s words and thoughts in this book. She is helping to free women from the notion that everything in their homes have to be perfect to make them happy. How often does that happen? Maybe never? We all have imperfect homes and works in progress and to be content to make the most of what we have is the message in her book. I loved it and I think you will too.
Myquillyn and her publisher are giving away 3 books to my readers and I’m so happy to share this giveaway with you all!Â
Just leave a comment telling me what room in your house is the most imperfect and how would this book help you with the process of making that room a contented space?Â

My hall bahtroom needs work!
My living/dining room . Its been years since it has been painted and truly needs an overhaul!
I need all the inspiration I can get lol
My guest bathroom is sooooo outdated!
I think it would be my living room. We don’t use it a lot so it seems to stay exactly the same year after year. Not that inviting. This is a beautiful giveaway and I’m so happy you shared your friends blog site. Can’t wait ti go there!
It seems lately our family room is in need of some help.
After ten years this house needs to be repainted inside but I can’t figure out what color.
Our master bedroom has always been a sore spot for me! I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why I won’t just make some decisions and get it done, considering it is the first room we see when we wake up and the last one we see when we go to bed. You’d think I’d be more motivated to make it a restful haven. But I have been paralyzed with the fear that it won’t be “perfect”. How appropriate is Nester’s book title for me?? I don’t even want perfect, just beautiful! 🙂
I am constantly looking for inspiration for my sparsely decorated home! This book would be a great asset!
The master bath needs serious attention! The most imperfect room in our home.
My laundry room is sad! It’s just off the kitchen and easily visible. As Mom in a family of 7 that includes 3 teens and 2 twenty something’s I do lots of laundry. I want to make it a happy place!
I need help with our boys’ bedroom. It still has bunk beds and sports bedspreads and they have outgrown that look. It really has never had a pulled together look.
I just did a blog this am about my dining room table…trying to come up with a summer tablescape. My home is always a work in progress.
I would love to give my kitchen some attention.
My spare bedroom is the most imperfect, I know how I would like it to look but it just seems to be a catch all for all the extra furniture in the house
At this season in my life, it would easily be the living room…..currently it is the staging ground for my youngest who just came home from college. She has dorm room items, stacks of things for her mission trip to Africa and then other stacks for when she leaves for her summer job…and the other side of the room has been taken over by the items for my oldest daughter’s wedding on June 1………..I do have a beautiful new rug but I can’t see it! I am trying to see the beauty and blessings on the things that are happening in my life rather than focus on the cluttered stacked up mess!
My sewing/craft room!! Desperately needs help!
Like all other comments, my master bedroom and bath need some serious updating. I am not looking for perfection as in a show house. I need inspiration to make it my own!
We moved into our home three years ago and I’m still needing to finish our master bedroom.
I seem to have a problem with wall decor. I either have items crowded or huge blank areas on my walls. In my master bedroom ,I have about 10 black and white sketches that I have no idea how to arrange. Would love to get ideas for that.
My master bedroom bath is in desperate need of a upgrade! We love to get rid of the super small shower, Jacuzzi tub that never gets used, and Formica counters!
