It’s been such a joy to me in blogland for the past 7 years, watching my blog friends grow and seeing their success along with my own. Most of us who started blogging way back then are still going strong and still love this thing called blogging. It certainly has changed my life in so many profound ways and I’m still grateful every single day that I get to spend time with women all over the country, because of this blog. One of my long time friends in blogging, is Myquillyn Smith, also known as The Nester. She dubbed herself that early on, as she was fearful of sharing her real (unusual) name with the world wide web.
Her blog, the Nesting Place, encourages women to create a beautiful home without worrying about perfection. Who has time for that? Myquillyn put herself out there, sharing her window mistreatments, her hot glued pillows, letting women know that they could do things in their home all by themselves, using the budgets they had and that yes, indeed, it could be beautiful. Beauty is the in eye of the beholder and it definitely doesn’t have to have an expensive price tag.

The online world we live in can really suck the joy out of our own homes. Now that we can actually see millions of homes across the world just by clicking around the web, all of those perfect images can make us feel inadequate and our homes unworthy. But, we all know that isn’t real life. We all have to embrace our own homes and find the beauty in everything we surround ourselves with.
I’ve really enjoyed reading Nester’s words and thoughts in this book. She is helping to free women from the notion that everything in their homes have to be perfect to make them happy. How often does that happen? Maybe never? We all have imperfect homes and works in progress and to be content to make the most of what we have is the message in her book. I loved it and I think you will too.
Myquillyn and her publisher are giving away 3 books to my readers and I’m so happy to share this giveaway with you all!Â
Just leave a comment telling me what room in your house is the most imperfect and how would this book help you with the process of making that room a contented space?Â

My back porch needs help! I’d love a chance to win!
I love the Nester. I’ve been following her for years and am so happy she finally wrote a book. I’m hoping the book details her moves through the years – her current home seems like it would be a joy to live in – Imy kids would be in heaven with all of that land.
My Master bedroom is the dumping ground of the house. “Quick someone is coming over-put this in our bed room to get it out of sight”…I would love to organize and transform our bedroom to a relaxing nest…
well my whole house is a fixer upper and sometimes I just get stuck looking at the BIG PICTURE which is everything needs to be perfect or nothing gets done….but specifically our farmhouse bathroom – someone tried to update in 1985 and it’s pretty clear. YIKES. drop ceiling, funky can lighting a GINORMOUS vanity thing that holds about 3 things yet there’s no place to hang the toilet paper…it’s pretty terrible.
My family room needs the most help. Perhaps this book can guide me in area rug size, tile for fireplace and media cabinet.
Our guest bedroom. It’s small and can only accommodate a twin sized bed. I want this room to be warm and inviting for a guest that may stay over. Would love to win this book for some inspiration.
A couple rooms need “tinkering” to be perfect nests. The living room most of all. It’s pretty but not as comfortable as I’d like. Need to replace bathroom lights too.
Our master bath. It is so tiny.
I just purchased a house and now I am flat broke. LOL. I have not been able to do anything to any room. It looks as though no one lives there. So, I guess I would have to say all my rooms are imperfect. But I would like to start with the Living Room. As I have said before I am a substitute mother and father for 2 nieces and a substitute mother for another one. I would love to be able to continue a tradition that we lost with the passing of one of the grandmothers. She would have dinner every single Sunday (very informal) and anyone was invited. Even though she was my sister-in-law’s mother my family was always welcomed with open arms. We all enjoyed this tradition young and old. I would like to continue this tradition, but as I said my living room is non-existent.
We are renovaing & right now our master bath is ripped out!
Our living room is in need of some help!
It’s not a room, per se, but my back porch needs a lot of love. Winter has taken its toll and there’s been no time or motivation to whip it into shape.
Need to finish my sewing craft room. I’m looking for some inspiration.
Right now, nothing in my “home” is perfect. We’re in transition: we’re temporarily apartment-dwellers, since we sold our Florida home and relocated to NC, and we’re searching for the, ahem, “perfect” home! Nothing we currently possess, and it’s all in storage, will be what I want for my new home. Beachy-feel furnishings simply don’t transition to mountain-living! Buying a house won’t allow for a budget for new furnishings, so I’ll be trying to make it all work with what we own! My interior decorator friend always told me to start with the master bedroom, so that’s where I’ll be starting. 🙂
Our bedroom…it’s a way station for laundry and misfit items and needs to become a sanctuary!
The most imperfect room in my house is my bedroom. It needs help!
Our living room needs an update. String wallpaper removed, new paint color, furniture pieces added and arranged fashionably.
I can’t quite get our breakfast area like I want it. When you come in from the garage, it’s the first thing you see-I want it pulled together but cozy!
My master bath.Oh, it’s ugly.
My extra guest/craft room. Thanks.
