Jr. League of Atlanta Thrift Store Giveaway!

{Giveaway is Closed}

The winner is #12:  Arlynn!  Congrats, Arlynn, so happy for you!

This one is for all my Atlanta readers!

The Jr. League of Atlanta has a Jr. League  Nearly New Shop Thrift store, which I knew nothing about until I got an email inviting me down there.  I haven’t been yet, but I plan to stop in there when I get a chance.  I’ve been a little busy these days.

Here’s a little bit about the Nearly New Shop:

The League:

The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Store:

Since opening its doors in 1949, the Junior League of Atlanta’s Nearly New Shop has served hundreds of thousands of customers, raised more than four million dollars in net revenue, and moved eight times — growing with each relocation. Throughout all the growth, the mission of The Nearly New Shop has remained the same: to offer quality merchandise and a positive Junior League image, to raise money for community projects, and to offer an interesting, fun placement for members. Proceeds from the Nearly New Shop are used to train and educate League members for effective community service, as well as to financially support projects and programs where League volunteers serve.

 And here’s the good news!

They also want to offer one of my readers a $50 giveaway to come and shop in the store.  How fun is that?  An opportunity to spend money in a thrift store!  You can imagine how far $50 might go in that store.

They are open 7 days a week too!  So you can get your thrift on any day of the week.   They are located on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta, so definitely on my side of town.  I’ll be checking them out very soon!

You can visit their Facebook page for more information about the group and their events.  And I hope all of you Atlanta girls will stop by there and visit.

You can’t have too many thrift stores now can you?

Just leave a comment telling me the best thing you’ve ever found in a thrift store.  Please only comment if you are in Atlanta and can actually visit the store.  Thanks!

The giveaway winner for the Southern Bloggers Conference is posted here and giveaway winner emailed.

My best thrift store find was an 8-ft. long buffet for my daughters kitchen. With cream base and a black top, it exactly matched her kitchen cabinets. At $50, it was a steal!

Its hard to remember what is the best thing I’ve found at a thrift store! I’ve been thrifting for over 30 years! A couple of things do come to mind though; I got a great massage table for $25, and a big drum for $25!

My best thrifting find was a gorgeous pen and ink drawing for $5.

Heads-up that the Atlanta Nearly New shop has a communal dressing room. When I used to go they had a great book selection.

Thanks for the great give-away! My favorite thing I got a thrift store – a black painted chair that I use at my sewing table for five dollars.

How could I limit my favorite thrift find to one item! I found some beautiful brown transferware plates today at Goodwill — similiar to what I was wishing for from the Neiman-Marcus catalog except the ones I picked up are old (which in my opinion makes them all the better). I frequent the Nearly New shop and bought a pair of new, soft brown leather ankle boots last fall.

I’m so happy you told us about the “Nearly New” store. I think I might have to take a little drive down there tomorrow! One of my favorite and most used “finds” from my local Goodwill (Canton) was a Talbot’s jacket. I have received so many compliments on it, and people are always surprised when I tell them where it came from. Thanks, Rhoda!

My favorite find was a Lily Pulitzer dress for my new baby girl (coming in October). That’s a price point that I would NEVER buy, but oh, so very cute. I love the Nearly New shop, and I so hope that I win! My other favorite is Goodwill on Buford Hwy in North Buckhead.

The best thing I ever found at a thrift store was some beautiful old Pyrex dishes. I have such a thing for old Pyrex and I really hit the jackpot that day!

I’ve bought so many great things, it’s hard to narrow down! My most money-saving purchases, though, have to be the 4 barely-used, classic tuxedoes I have found (probably dropped off post-season from a tux shop) for my 4 sons. After a trip to the dry cleaners, they have been worn numerous times, saving us lots of rental fees.

Most of my stuff comes from thrift stores! I guess my best deal has been an antique cottage style dresser with mirror! Can’t wait to visit this new thrift store!
