Jr. League of Atlanta Thrift Store Giveaway!

{Giveaway is Closed}

The winner is #12:  Arlynn!  Congrats, Arlynn, so happy for you!

This one is for all my Atlanta readers!

The Jr. League of Atlanta has a Jr. League  Nearly New Shop Thrift store, which I knew nothing about until I got an email inviting me down there.  I haven’t been yet, but I plan to stop in there when I get a chance.  I’ve been a little busy these days.

Here’s a little bit about the Nearly New Shop:

The League:

The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Store:

Since opening its doors in 1949, the Junior League of Atlanta’s Nearly New Shop has served hundreds of thousands of customers, raised more than four million dollars in net revenue, and moved eight times — growing with each relocation. Throughout all the growth, the mission of The Nearly New Shop has remained the same: to offer quality merchandise and a positive Junior League image, to raise money for community projects, and to offer an interesting, fun placement for members. Proceeds from the Nearly New Shop are used to train and educate League members for effective community service, as well as to financially support projects and programs where League volunteers serve.

 And here’s the good news!

They also want to offer one of my readers a $50 giveaway to come and shop in the store.  How fun is that?  An opportunity to spend money in a thrift store!  You can imagine how far $50 might go in that store.

They are open 7 days a week too!  So you can get your thrift on any day of the week.   They are located on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta, so definitely on my side of town.  I’ll be checking them out very soon!

You can visit their Facebook page for more information about the group and their events.  And I hope all of you Atlanta girls will stop by there and visit.

You can’t have too many thrift stores now can you?

Just leave a comment telling me the best thing you’ve ever found in a thrift store.  Please only comment if you are in Atlanta and can actually visit the store.  Thanks!

The giveaway winner for the Southern Bloggers Conference is posted here and giveaway winner emailed.

I have found so many wonderful things at thrift stores, to include almost my entire wardrobe (and with the likes of Coldwater Creek, Chicos, Ann Taylor brands no one knows the better!). Probably my most favorite find to date: a bun warmer that was in perfect condition (from the 70’s). The wonderful thing about it, my mother had one just like it. Her’s is long gone, but everytime I use mine I think about her and the holidays and gatherings we had where hers was used. It is very special.

Mine is the cookbooks I found from the Southern Living Heritage Cookbook collection at Goodwill. I LOVE these books and the illustrations and recipes are so much fun! Loads of old recipes you can’t find anymore, especially for regional cakes, breads, and cookies.

Love thrift stores and always drawn to the kitchenwares section first! My mom is in Atlanta and I visit often. This will be on my short list of places to visit! I’ve found wonderful matching pieces to stuff I already own and now with a daughter in college I want to make sure she uses stores like this when she gets her first apt. Thanks Rhoda for the best giveways!

I have found so many great things at thrift stores, it’s hard to choose just one! Probably one of my favorites is an old metal drink cooler – it looks kind of like the old Coca-Cola ones, but this one says “Pleasure Chest” on the front. It’s red and perfectly weathered and I use it outside for drinks when we entertain :o) Thanks for telling us about the Jr League thrift store!

The best thing I found in a thrift store was a battered wood desk. With a new coat of paint and hardware, everyone swears it came from Pottery Barn. I’m relocating to Atlanta (in one week-eek, so much still left to do!) and am so excited to hear about the Jr League thrift store. It’ll be on the top of my list of places to check out!

All of my dining room furniture is from thrift or consignment stores. I live in Chamblee, and my absolute favorite shop is Treasure Mart on Broad Street. I also love visiting My Favorite Place.

My favorite find was at Last Chance in Chamblee. I found two 102″ oval white battenburg lace tablecloths for $1.99 each. I love them, but still do not know what I’m going to do with them. I, too, love Treasure Mart and My Favorite Place (aka Bob’s).

The best thing or should I say two things I ever found at a thrift store were two nearly new wingback chairs at Goodwill! The chairs were a steal at $13.91 each! I mean, they have no major stains and no rips in the fabric. I could barely contain my excitement.

I love the Nearly New Shop! It is by far one of my favorites. From Lilly Pulitzer to Patagonia, the brand names & designers are always so fun to dig for, and rarely do I leave disappointed!

Best thrift store find was a sterling silver Tiffany’s ring (in my size!) for $3.50 at Goodwill in Sandy Springs.

Visiting from their FB page and am so excited to discover your sweet blog! 🙂

oooh… sounds fun! New thrift stores are always fun! 🙂 would love to win a gift card.

The best thing I ever found in a thrift store?? wow, that’s hard! I find things all the time. And some of my biggest finds have been yard sale finds. But a recent find was a caned back french provincial chair for $3.03.

Oh, and I just bought a solid wood old door at a thrift store for $17.50 at a thrift store 🙂

I had a monkey party for my 3yr old little girl. Lucky for me the local thrift store had a banana holder, monkeys of course and two stuffed monkeys. They made for amazing party decor!

I haven’t bought a lot at thrift stores although I have seen others find wonderful things. My favorite thrifting buy was via Craigslist – a Henredon campaign dresser for $300.
I would like to shop at the Jr League store because I need new throw pillows for my sofa. I’ll be in the Howell Road area soon to shop for fabric to recover some bar stools and plan to stop in.

Hmmm…almost everything in my house is from a thrift store or craigslist. I guess the expandable dining room table and 8 chairs ($100) I purchased last year counts. Also, my favorite dishcloths are sackcloth and I usually order online. I found a brand new set of three – in colors I love – for $1 at a local thrift store 🙂

Gotta love thrift stores! I frequent Goodwill in Canton, and recently found a great Pottery Barn sea grass chair for my guest room.

Thank you for a new thrift store, so excited to stop by! My best find wasn’t even for me, figures!! Hand held weights for the hubby, $1 a piece and after checking prices at big box stores, that was a steal!

One of my favorite finds was a 1969 Betty Crocker cookbook. It has many different recipes I had never heard of and on top of the many food pictures, it has sketches of people entertaining. I bought it for .49 at Park Ave. Thrift in west cobb.

I am going to check out the Jr Leauge store, my favorite find(s) has got to be the ironstone collection I have. It has all come from estate sales and thrift stores.
