Once again this year, I have the opportunity to partner with Sherwin-Williams to redo a room, and my laundry room is the candidate. You’ve seen some progress in there since the beginning, but now it’s getting the final phase of makeovers done, and I can’t wait! This room is going to be combination laundry room, mudroom, storage, and gardening and you know I’ve added a sink in here to really make it useful. This post is all about choosing the paint colors in here.
There’s already a toilet stubbed in here too, so a toilet will go in the corner of my storage area and that will come in handy as well.
Let me tell you about some fun new color selection tools that are available at Sherwin-Williams now! One of them I really like is the ColorSnap Studio™ for iPad. You can download this tool, take a pic of your room with your iPad, and then define an area to paint or simply paint your space with the brush of a finger. Simple, right?
When starting a new project, this comes in so handy for finding the right color. Play around with it, and you’ll see for yourself. I use HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams for the most part when I buy paint from them, and my local store has great customer service. I love working with them on my projects, not to mention their products are wonderful.
Match a photo:  If you see a color you love, simply take a pic and match the color in the photo to a Sherwin-Williams paint color for your room. You can play around with their color palette of over 1,500 colors to your heart’s content, finding just the right color for your project. All you have to do is download the ColorSnap Studio for iPad! These tools will come in handy for all sorts of projects around the house.

Just in case you’re new around here, this is the ugly space I started with when we purchased the house. UGLY to the max!

The walls are paper paneling and not at all pretty, but I was determined to make the best of my space.

I painted the floors with Sherwin-Williams Porch and Floor enamel (click that link to see the how-to’s), sealing it with a Wet Look Concrete Sealer, and it turned out fantastic.

As you can see here. This is where we left off last, and my dad and I added the baseboards and trim molding to the doors and floor. It was looking better already, but that was just one phase of my makeover. After one coat of white paint, it looked pretty good.
For my laundry room, I’m not going for high drama, so I chose a bright white for my space. There are no windows in here, so I have to take advantage of light walls, especially since I painted the ceilings black in here for an industrial look. This room is not a polished finished-out space, so I’m trying to make it as nice as possible, working with what I’ve got. You can see a stencil that I’m adding on this wall that will create some drama to this end of the laundry room.
I taped off the baseboards getting ready to paint. I chose Sherwin-Williams Alabaster for my white walls and trim. It will freshen up this space so much and with my gray and white striped floors, it will be so fun and snappy.
So, that’s the start to my final phase of the laundry room. It’s going to be so fun and cute in here now. I’ll be showing you the finished space soon on the washer/dryer side and it’s going to be a dramatic change, let me tell you! I’ve got big plans for hiding my ductwork too, so can’t wait to show you that.
I hope you’ll check out the new Sherwin-Williams color selection tools that are available to you on their website. They are a great company, and I love working with their paints.

I think I must be like a lot of your other readers! I get color inspiration from nature, but also from reading all the wonderful blogs–like yours!! Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
I get my color inspirations from a variety of places like magazines, blogs, and Pinterest.
I go to the store and check out the paint cards. I take the colors I like home to decide on a final color
Shelter magazines, home decor blogs, fabric, friends’ homes, etc. Can’t wait to try this app. Thanks!
I get inspiration from talented bloggers. I desperately need to paint our front door and our office. The front door is a disaster and I really want to freshen up the porch area.
My inspiration usually comes from nature or my artwork and we always use Sherwin Williams paint, honest! My husband is a contractor and it is the only paint he will buy. Can’t wait to see what you do with the stencil.
Fabric inspires me. I am the daughter of a Home Ec teacher and I loved collecting fabric samples. Waverly inspired my kitchen with Bedazzled in gray and yellow. Vera Bradley’s Java Blue inspired my bedroom colors and lucky me my daughter is going to let me have her Vera Bradley rug to match. Can’t not mention your blog and Pinterest as great sources of inspiration. And thanks to Sherwin Williams and their recent 40% off sale the kitchen is now painted gray.
Magazine, tips from friends, and Pinterest.
I actually went to the Sherwin Williams store and looked at their brochures that made recommendations for what colors to pair and 7 years later I still get compliments on the colors in my living room and kitchen and questions asking me how I knew to pick the complimentary colors.
Blogs have been my first introducion for new decorating ideas. Now I always on the look out for interesting things when out in town. Lowes is always a fun place to find interesting items for fixing the place up.
I use colors I like and try to match them to fabrics.
COLORS COME FROM ALL OVER ,,,ARTWORK FABRIC,,,SKY,,,RIVER…NATURE…CLOTHING ,,,, JEWERLY…
I find color inspiration from my sisters home. She’s an interior designer and has beautiful taste. She’s always changing things up.
My inspiration comes from the objects in the room I am doing and from the colors that I find pleasing to my eye.
Some day I would like to find the shade of blue that the sky is when it peeks between the clouds on a sunny day. I think that would be perfect for a laundry room.
We recently had a home built and I have to say my color inspirations have come from a variety sources. In the living room the colors were pulled from a fabulous chair (paisley upholstery with browns, creams, blue and a touch of green) that begged to come home with me before the house was even constructed!! The master bedroom is done in black, cream & turquoise with light slate colored walls because a small turquoise lotus flower ceramic candle holder called my name while browsing a local shop with my sister. Spring flowers are the reason for the pinks, yellows and blues in my granddaughters’ rooms at MiMi’s house.
Love your laundry room transformation! Blue is my inspiration! I have a touch (or more) of it in every room of my house! Thanks for the chance to win!
I get color inspiration from accessories.
I start with magazines for some inspiration. Then I think about what kind of feel I want for the room. I try to think about the lighting etc. Then I think about the fabrics and art work that I want to use. Then that takes me to my paint decks. I usually take sometime here and compare colors. Then if I feel I need more assurance I will purchase a paint sample. Sherwin Williams is excellent at providing very affordable choices.
I have been painting with Sherwin-William’s Paints through out our remodel: the interior of my home and the exterior as well. I love them; they are so helpful at the paint store. Last week I painted a shed interior, and this week I’m studying our paint color chips for the color relationship between the interior of the house and the interior of the porch. I hope I win!
I look to nature for inspiration.
