We like to get out sometimes and visit the local antiques stores and that’s what we did last week on a nice early spring day. We went to Woodstock Antiques, which is probably familiar to those of you in the area, at the intersection of Bells Ferry Rd. and Hwy. 92. We’ve been in there many times and it’s always fun to browse. I like to see what’s currently trending and what the bigger booths are displaying. I’m still seeing a lot of painted furniture and a shabby chic look in much of the displays.
Painted black chairs with a stained table top traditional table. I painted my kitchen dining chairs black almost 20 years ago and that was cutting edge back then.
I liked this painting.
Fusion Mineral paints are still very popular and I’d use them again if I was painting furniture. They don’t require a top coat and lots of colors available.
Table vignette.
This little rattan bar cart caught my eye. I can’t remember the price, but it was a little rickety when I touched it.
More spring displays.
Everyone is thinking about spring these days and I’ll be decorating my house soon too for a spring look.
It’s fun to see what’s out there. I like this black chair.
These lamps were pretty, but I don’t care for the shades. At $65 each, not a bad deal.
I liked these abstract paintings, they were $325 each.
Rattan side tables, $135 for the pair.
More springy displays and chippy pieces.
Another painted piece. I never did the farmhouse trend and have gotten away from all the chippy furniture and I feel like I’ve found my true style in grand millennial, which is color and pattern and a fresh take on Traditional style. I did a whole post on grand millennial if you’re curious.
More painted furniture, it’s a nice way to update older pieces.
More rattan, which is still very popular. The texture is great in baskets and pieces like this.
I loved this water painting, looks like a coastal Georgia or South Carolina scene.
Orange vases and faux hydrangeas are colorful.
So is Fiestaware, which has had staying power.
A traditional sideboard with stone top marked at $525. Shopping for antiques is definitely less expensive than brand new and probably better made in most instances.
This large chine cabinet marked $450. It has an unusual shape.
Pyrex is still going strong. I still have a few pieces of this too, like that orange bowl in the orange set, I have the second one from the bottom. I think I found it at a yardsale years ago. My mom had a lot of this when we were growing up, so it reminds me of her.
Black lamp and horse paintings.
Lots of things tucked in this booth.
I liked the looks of this oil painting, marked at $695. You don’t usually see oils placed under glass, but this one is.
And that’s our antiques outing, hope you enjoyed browsing with us!
Very lovely antique store. Well displayed. There were several things I like. But I live up her on the North coast east of Cleveland OH. I always like your ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I love an antique store outing! Great pictures to show us what’s “hot”. Were you at The Market or Woodstock Antiques? Thank you!
Hey Jan, we were at Woodstock Antiques.
Looks like a great place to browse!
Wanted to tell you that husband and I have been enjoying Savannah the last few days and traveling back to Midwest today. Had a great time but getting ready to go through Atlanta again and fingers crossed that all goes smoothly. Definitely something we’re not used too!
Glad you enjoyed Savannah and you’re right about Atlanta traffic, it’s no joke! We hate it!
Thanks for sharing your antiquing adventure. I loved it!!
Wish that antique market was near me….so many pretty things! Thanks for sharing. Antiques are often much better made than todays run of the mill pieces and to me are so much more interesting. Enjoyed this post.
