While down on the Gulf coast of Alabama, Karen and I drove to Fairhope for the day and enjoying that little trip so much. Fairhope is a cute, cute little town, full of charm and quaint living. Â I can see why folks enjoy this small town. Â It’s known as an artsy town with many events going on during the year.
The downtown area of Fairhope is exactly what you’d expect in a coastal city, with lots of cute shops and restaurants everywhere.
It was a chilly day so we didn’t walk around the whole town, but stopped in a few places and watched part of a football game at the pub downtown.
Our first stop was lunch out at the Sunset Pointe marina, where we met up with 2 of my blog friends who live here.
It is such a cute place too, with boats docked and beautiful scenery.
This fire pit felt really nice this particular day, as I was very chilly.
I was still wearing sandals, but it definitely wasn’t warm enough for shorts.
We met up with Kim and Leslie Anne, who both live in Fairhope. They are such sweet ladies and it was fun to see them again. Â Fairhope seems like such a nice place.
We had a leisurely lunch at Sunset Pointe and enjoyed the food and the views. Â It was fun catching up on blog news with these girls. Â It’s so fun to have friends all over the country from blogging.
Surprise! I got the grouper sandwich.
We hit the downtown area after lunch for some browsing and looking. And after Leslie Anne told me about the Fairhope Float at Mr. Gene’s Beans, I had to try one for myself. Â It’s a coffee and ice cream concoction that was complete yumminess!
While we were up that way, we stopped by the Silver Hill Market, after someone on my Facebook page told us not to miss it. Â It’s a wonderful charming shop, with clothes, jewelry, and home decor. Â Fun place to shop.
They were all decorated for Fall and I’m glad we took the time to check it out.
They didn’t want pics taken inside, so I took some on the outside areas, which were so charming.
This is a bamboo forest with lights, very fun!
We really enjoyed our day in Fairhope and seeing Silver Hill Market too. Â Lots of fun shopping down in this area of the Alabama Gulf coast, so if you get down there, check it all out for yourself!
Hi Rhoda,
Several years ago I visited Fairhope, AL with friends during the Thanksgiving week. The town is quaint and welcoming. I recall that Christmas music was piped throughout the town. It created a wonderfully festive holiday mood. And there was (hopefully it is still there) a consignment shop on the main street that offered high end clothing at terrific prices. One day I hope to return. Fairhope is a very special place!
A great place for breakfast in Fairhope is Julwin’s Restaurant. They do breakfast and brunch. The food is great with a very charming small town atmosphere. We enjoy visiting Fairhope. I always leave wishing I had more time to explore the shops and other attractions.
You missed Green Gates Market. You must put it on the top of your list your next Fairhope visit.
I agree with Teresa, Green Gates Market is nice and you should go to the Coffee Loft
too It is close to green gates market and it is the best coffee that I have ever had.
I’ve heard it’s a quaint little town but do they have antique stores?
My husband, Jim & I just adore Fairhope. We really like the restaurant, Panini Pete’s , unique sandwiches & salads and the best beignets outside of New Orleans! I agree the shopping there is the best, especially at their Christmas Shop and a wonderful bookstore. Also a short trip to a charming town nearby, Magnolia Springs is needed. It is very picturesque and so relaxing a drive there. A bed & breakfast is there as well as a tree covered road that you will never forget. The St. Paul’s Episcopal Church there is also unique and oh so pretty! Enjoy Daphne too while you are there & a trip to Mobile is not to be missed especially the Mardi Gras Costume Museum! Fabulous! We especially like the Marriott Hotel at Point Clear, so majestic & the afternoon tea is not to be missed! LA, lower Alabama holds so many memories for us!
Love Fairhope, too! My son just married a girl from Fairhope, so we were down last weekend for the most perfect bayside wedding. Planning a rehearsal dinner from 5 states away (VA) is no small task, but everyone I worked with in Fairhope was so helpful and made it all easy. So many great shops — especially love The Garage Studio — and restaurants too. The Lakewood Club has an A-mazing chef. I could go on….
Silverhill Market looks live a fun shop! I have some tasteful handmade Halloween decorations that I’ve collected over the years. I don’t know how to display them well … should I put them all together or scatter them around. Would love to see some ideas of how you decorate inside your home for fall.
Lindy, I’m not that much into Fall and Halloween decorations at all. I don’t do anything on my front porch, but decorate my foyer table just a bit. And I hardly ever do real pumpkins, it’s just not my thing. I know those with kids decorate more for Halloween, but it’s just never been high on my list of holidays. I did a Fall tour post a couple of weeks ago, with my foyer table, and mantel decorated very simply.

P.S. I don’t care for orange so I like to use other colors for Halloween and fall decorations!
Rhoda, it is always good to see you and it was a pleasure to meet Karen. It was a very fun day and I so enjoyed our time together. Please look me up again next time you are down our way. Fairhope is indeed a wonderful town. The first time I visited here I told my husband it was like walking through Mayberry and he answered, “Only in color!” Two years later we were all moved in and raising our kids in Mayberry.
There is so much to do and such interesting people to meet that you surely need another reason to stop by! The door’s always open. You are so gracious to link to my little blog. Thank you! May God continue to bless all of your endeavors.
A great article about our great city. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. I hope you can
