Master Bedroom Plans in the New House: Wayfair Giveaway!

So, at this point, I’m doing a lot of dreaming about pretty things and how they are all going to look in my new house.

Sigh….I can’t help it.  After 4 months of hard labor, I am dreaming of the day that I can play with fabrics, accessories and get furniture placed just right.  It’s coming soon, right?!

My master bedroom has been one area that I’ve been mulling over.  You all that have been with me for a long while remember my old master bedroom in Birmingham, with the creamy white matelassé mixed with blue and golds.  I’m keeping the blue and white for now, but the gold is out the window this time around.  I don’t want the same feel at all, for very obvious reasons. 🙂  I still have all my furniture and my new room is nice and big and will hold it all just fine.

In comes my favorite color of green to the mix!  In case you want to know my thought processes when I try to figure all of this out, I look at things and see what they can become.  I do like blue and white together even if that wouldn’t be my first choice for decorating colors and the blues that I have are nice blues and guess what, they mix well with greens.
I wasn’t about to ditch all my blue and white and start over, cause I really do still like those colors together.  They are easy and restful, calming and peaceful.  But, I wanted to freshen them up and so I thought a perfect way to do that would be to bring in fresh greens to the mix.

Dash and Albert rug

One way to get your creative juices flowing is to look at a focal piece for the room.  A rug is a great place to start.  I got online and started looking at rugs.  In fact, with my Joss and Main sale earlier this year, I had some credits saved up and when a cute Dash and Albert rug came along, I decided to order it.  I loved the stripes and the colors and figured I could use it somewhere in my new house, at the small  2 x 3 size.

When I got it in, I did love the colors.  So much in fact, that I decided this rug would make a nice addition to my master bedroom with the blue and white I already had.  Then, Wayfair contacted me about guest posting for them and doing a giveaway. They carry these rugs on their online site.  I asked them about the rug and they generously sent this beautiful 8×10 Dash and Albert Fisher rug to me to use in my new bedroom.

I know!  I have to pinch myself at the opportunities and products I get to try out for myself with this blogging thing.  It is pretty amazing and believe me, I don’t take it for granted.

Wayfair is the parent company for Joss and Main. I absolutely love their home décor products and they have a ton of them. Joss and Main is a flash sale site and when you sign up, you can get in on some nice sales. In fact, anyone can share a link to Joss and Main and you can get credits too when friends sign up and purchase products.  In fact, I’m going to be doing another Joss and Main sale later this Fall, just in time for the Holidays.

Squeal!!  I’m going to be in my new house for Christmas this year.  And that makes me SO HAPPY!

Dash and Albert Fisher rug

So, back to my bedroom.  I’m having so much fun dreaming about what my room will look like.  This room is nice and big and I can fit all my furniture in here with no problems.  That is going to be so nice for me.  Right now, my stuff is crammed into my parent’s small upstairs bedroom and while I’m so grateful for a place to live, I can’t wait to spread out again and have room for all my things.

blue and green Dash and Albert rug

You can see my blue and white paisley shams and how nice they will look with this new Dash and Albert rug.  Love this!

The rug will give my fabrics a whole new lease on life now and I don’t have to start over in decorating my room.  That’s a huge plus, since I have so many other things to spend money on.

Ikea Ritva drapes

I also purchased 3 sets of these Ritva drapes from Ikea which I have big plans for.  These will be stenciled in a pretty Ikat stencil (in blue) and hopefully add some real pizazz to my windows too.  At $25 a set, these don’t break the bank either and a custom stencil will be fun.

Fisher Rug Dash and Albert

This striped rug really makes me smile.

Another big plan that I have is doing this paint treatment on the headboard wall, the one that will be seen coming in the door.  I can’t wait!  I saw this at the Southern Living Idea house and immediately fell in  love with it and this is the perfect spot to try it out.  Hello, Frogtape!  Southern Living was nice enough to put the instructions for this paint treatment on their website and I’m following it. In fact, I’m using just about this same color in my bedroom for my wall too.

Master bath vanity sconce

Not a great pic, but I found this wall sconce at a local store called Cherokee Closeouts up in Canton, for just over $30 (their fixtures are marked down all the time).  They have sales on their lighting and if you find something you like, it’s not bad pricing.  It’s not really crooked, but the screw needs tightening on the back.  I’ve got an electrician who is doing some updates for me and I’ll get him to move the light fixture down and hang my sconce in the vanity area.  It’s going to look so cute in there!

Rug and pillow sham

So that’s my plans for the bedroom right now.  I’m going to have fun and be creative with what I have. No need starting from scratch when you have some good items to work with.  I’ll add some green pillows to my bed and make it all work together and I’ll take some greens into my bathroom too.  More than likely, you’ll see one piece of furniture painted a vibrant green too.  Stay tuned for that!

Master bedroom progress

This blank slate of a bedroom is going to come together soon!  I can’t wait to get all moved in there and start living in it.

Thanks to Wayfair for sending me the rug, which really jump started my new room makeover!

They want to share with my readers too and are offering a $50 giveaway for ONE of my readers to shop at Wayfair too!! Woohoo, I know you’ll love that.  Wayfair has so many great items to choose from and you’ll have fun browsing, just like I did.

Click over to Wayfair.com to see all they have to offer!

I’m leaving comments open for now, but PLEASE NOTE:  To be entered in the giveaway, you’ll need to click on the Rafflecopter entries in the Rafflecopter widget to record your entries. There are 3 ways to be entered and you can use 1 or all 3 to be eligible for the giveaway!!

Also, here’s something else fun that Wayfair is doing right now!  A Pinterest challenge. Click here to read all the details, but if you pick a photo from their Pinterest board to recreate using products from Wayfair.com, you could win something! I gave it a try and did a board here!

Rhoda, pulling some green into the mix will be good, giving your items a fresh new look. It’s always SO hard to wait until the time comes to decorate! That is my favorite part. I enjoy keeping up with other people’s decorating too. The Dash and Albert Fisher rug from Wayfair is fabulous. You will end up using that in a different room later! It is so versatile. I am going to enter to win one for my living room. No, my dining room, no, my bedroom, guestroom, Oh, I know! my sunporch. or maybe my…………..

Hi, Rhoda! I can’t wait to see how your new home comes together! It’s been very inspirational to watch everything unfold!

I am also having trouble locating the Rafflecopter widget. The page is totally loaded for me and at the bottom of the post is a Walgreens ad. I have looked high and low! I have used Rafflecopter before on your site with no trouble up until today.

    Thanks!

I have been a long time reader…waaay before you moved and bought a new house, etc. I’d say at least 3 years. I rarely comment, but I love looking at your pictures and getting some great ideas. However, clicking over to your blog is going to keep me from keeping you on my reader (which means I won’t be reading your site anymore). So you’ve lost a long time blog reader. 🙁 Yes, it only takes a few seconds to click over to your site. But, I am a busy Mom. If I clicked over to every blog I read on my reader, it would take FOREVER. My laptop is slow and some sites (like yours) take quite a long time to load. I can read most of my blogs daily in about 15 minutes. If I clicked over, and yes I tried it today, it would take me at least 30 minutes..maybe longer. That’s a long time for a Mom who doesn’t have much time to spare. Anyway, it’s been nice reading your blogs all these years and I will miss it. I don’t tell you this to cause problems..I tell you this because I am probably the voice of many..the minority, yes…but still a voice all the same. It’s your blog though…by all means do what you want with it. I understand the stealing aspect, and that sucks. But, like I said, I am a reader with a choice too…and my choice is to not read blogs that force me to crossover..because a lot of times it’s not about the stealing aspect, it’s about the money aspect.

Hi, Kelly, I’m sorry you feel the need to leave, you will be missed. I didn’t do this lightly, but the stealing content thing is getting more and more rampant out there, so I thought (and many of my blog friends agree and are doing this too) that this would be a way to help stop it from happening.

      Hi,
I can appreciate that you get to choose what you want to do. Maybe this next bit will give you something to think about. What these scrapers are doing IS stealing and therefore they are breaking the law. Maybe not laws we have now but laws we should have. If I were running a business (and a blog is a business) and someone stole/scraped my ideas I would sue them (“industrial espionage” or at least something along those lines). If I were an author (and bloggers are authors) and someone used my words in something they wrote and didn’t give me the credit, that is “plagiarizing”.
The problems we are having now is that these laws are not yet set up for the technical society we have become. Hopefully these changes will come sooner rather than later.
Rhoda and the rest of the bloggers provide us with unending ideas and fun for FREE and I, for one, do not blame them for trying to protect their businesses.
I’m sorry you won’t be able to follow this blog any longer and can only hope that some time in the future you will be able to return to it.
      All the best,
      Cathy
P.S. No, Rhoda is not paying me to say this! 🙂
P.P.S. And, no I am not a blogger.
P.P.P.S. Here’s a URL from Thrifty Decor Chick that gives an excellent explanation of the Scrapers. http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.ca/2012/08/scraper-sites.html

Your room will look great, and I like your thought of keeping what you have and freshening it up.

Guess what! I will get to hear you speak at the Southern Bloggers Conference in October! I’m anxious to hear voices and match them with the faces I’ve become familiar with over the past months.

I feel so silly…but I don’t even know what a Rafflecopter (hope I spelled that right widget looks like). I’ve been scrolling around but coming up with a big DUH…sorry. This is the downside learning something new all of the time…makes me feel so inadequate!!!

On the upside, I have seen all of your advertisers, the Haven button, know you spoke in NYC and that 71 friends were on this site. 🙂

You are making it so hard on us….trying to figure out what room we love the mostest! Now, my new fave is going to be your Master room! Love the new rug! Perfect! Glad you’re changing it up in there. This is a new place…so time for as much “new” as you can do on a budget. I saw the SL house and loved that wall! Can’t wait to see yours. I swear – every update truly gets better! Also, I applaud you and other bloggers’ efforts to copywrite and safeguard. This is what you do for a living and it is the same at any other corporation. This is your “work” material that you are creating. So stand firm! Your blog is worth the read anytime, anywhere, any place! I used to go to the library and use their computers for free to view things that I couldn’t normally view otherwise. So if there’s a will, there’s a way! IMHO

I’m so sorry some of you are not seeing the Rafflecopter widget. It’s right above the comments here. If you let everything load, it should show up, it’s a large box, so you can’t miss it. Try another browser if you are not seeing it there.
