Happy Memorial Day weekend! Hope you are out there enjoying this beautiful time of year. I know I am. Summer is about to swing into full blown hot here in Georgia and I want to really enjoy this season.
I’m back today with another round of the Thrifty Treasures party. Thanks so many of you for coming back and joining in the party last month! I know so many of you love this party and enjoy sharing your finds. There were about 75 of you who shared your finds last month, so I hope you’ll all show up again.
Me, I still have to limit what I bring home, because I just don’t have room for a lot more, so my treasure hunting is limited to smaller items. I did pick up a few vintage planters on the thrifting outing I went on earlier this month and have filled them up with plants. I love these old vintage planters, they add so much charm to a space.
I found 3 of these planters all on the same day and already had the olive green one on the right.
I bought some succulents from Lowes and added rocks to the bottom for drainage. I’m keeping them out on the porch, so they should do fine with the drainage method since they don’t need a lot of water anyway.
After adding soil and planting, I placed them in my windowsills on the porch. I know I’ll enjoy seeing them all summer long!
I couldn’t resist this staghorn fern either and rescued it from the Lowes mark-down plant section for $1.
Succulents are so pretty and easy to grow.
So that’s one of my thrifty projects this week. Cute planters with easy to grow succulents!
I’m also highlighting a few finds from the party last month, so enjoy these fun finds.
I love a cute cart and DD’s Cottage found this one thrifting, took it home and painted it turquoise. Paint works wonders every time!
Flimsy Pi found this chair on the side of the road and gave it a stylish makeover. So cute!
Mirrors are always fun to find and I’ve found a ton of them in my thrifting adventures over the years. Girl in the Garage found this cute one for $3.
Now it’s time for you to share your finds from the last month. Please link up on 2 per person and it has to be about a thrifty find you have scored and are featuring on your blog. Remakes are fine too. Please link back to my party too!

Hi Rhoda,
Love your new planters and succulents, but the staghorn fern won’t do well planted, it wants to be mounted on a board like this:

Rhoda says
Hi, Sarah, thanks for sharing that! Now that you mention it, I have seen that done. I’m not sure I’ll mount mine right now, but I love what you did. Since they were only $1, I won’t worry about it much. Love your wall!

Staghorn ferns are bromeliads. As such they should be planted on another plant, such as a piece of bark. They don’t need to be mounted on the wall. The bark can rest in a dish. Most people mount them because in nature they grow on trees that way and they are so striking. Good luck with it. Get it out of the dirt. I’m new to your blog. I enjoyed it..nice containers.

Thanks for hosting, Rhoda. I love this idea for a link party. My link up is special to me because my finds came from my grandmother’s stash. She was always buying and collecting for her Antique and Junk shop…the stuff I brought home never made it to her shop, but I love imagining her through process as she picked out each treasure and brought it home. I actually learned a lot from her about thrift shopping. She took me to flea markets with her when I was just a young girl.
Anyway, I had so much fun mixing her vintage things into my decor.

Our house went under contract this weekend (woo-hoooo!), so no thrift shopping for me. I should be selling! Anyway, at least I can shop vicariously through your party. Love the little planters, by the way. 🙂

I also planted succulents in some vintage planters. I had planters that were my Mom’s so I put them to good use. Happy Memorial Day!!!!

I have to tell you, it is so much fun looking at everything folks have found. I live in a rural area and do not have as many places to go thrifting…or at least I have not found them yet! ha. Maybe I need to get out more. Anyway…thanks for hosting. I always look forward to your posts/features/link parties.
