Mirror Mate $200 Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

Just a couple of weeks ago, I showed off the new and improved bathroom, that ugly no more 70’s bathroom and told you that I’d come back and revisit the mirror frame that you all saw in the newly done space.

So, today I’m going to show you the wonderful company behind that mirror frame.  Mirror Mate offers custom frames for mirrors of any size. They contacted me about doing a review and giveaway for them, so of course I said YES!

This bathroom needed a swanky new frame around the old mirror to really take it up a notch.

All you do is send in the dimensions of your mirror and Mirror Mate will make your custom frame for you and ship it out in 4 pieces.  The process of putting it together was SO easy and I even documented it with some great pics.

The 4 pieces come all wrapped up nice and tidy with all the hardware in the box.

Two long and two short pieces for the frame.   The instructions are very easy.  I laid out the 4 pieces, butting up the corners.  It comes with a small tube of wood glue and plastic pieces that are tapped into the frame to further secure it in the corners.

Once you add the glue to the corners and tap in those plastic anchors (2 in each corner), it will look like this:

All you need is a small hammer and a wet rag to wipe up any glue residue that might seep out of the corners.  Place something under the frame in each corner to protect the face of it and to keep any glue off the floor.  See those long strips on the back with paper backing?  Those are heavy duty double-sided tape strips that are placed all around the back of the frame and once you put it together and get it ready to set ON your mirror, those paper strips come off and the tape holds it all in place.  It’s plenty heavy duty enough to hold your frame in place!

I put all the pieces together and then leaned it up to dry well and the next day it was ready for installation.  I think you only technically have to let it dry for a couple of hours, but I waited overnight.

So, I’ll just have to tell you about how easy it is to install and show you the AFTER pics.  We measured on either side of the frame to make sure we were equi-distant to the wall on each side, leaned the frame back and then peeled off the backing and placed the frame in place right on top of the mirror.  It actually overlaps the mirror slightly on the top and each side, which completely hides the mirror.

Here’s a good close-up of the frame I chose.  They have so many choices and styles to pick from.  This one is a dark toned brown/black with muted golden/bronze edging, which I thought would work well in here.  It mixes in fine with the oil-rubbed bronze light fixture, as well as the pulls on the vanity.

The frame actually overlaps the mirror just slightly and that is why you send them dimensions of your mirror.  They even ask for top, bottom and side measurements on how much space is there from the mirror edge to the wall or vanity, so that your frame will fit perfectly right on top of the mirror itself.

Self-adhesive strips are already attached all the way around the frame and once you are ready to place it, all you do is pull off all the strips and press it into place against the mirror.  Easy peasy for sure!  It’s made of MDF, so the tape is plenty sturdy enough to hold it in place.

It’s a great looking product and I would highly recommend Mirror Mate for style and ease of use.

There are so many styles, colors and gorgeous frames over there to choose from and here is the fantastic news.

Mirror mate is offering ONE of you your very own custom mirror frame to try out too.  This is a $200 value!!.

All you  have to do is go over, take a look at all the fabulous frames that Mirror Mate has to offer, come back here and tell me which one you would pick if you are the lucky winner!

That’s it!  Visit and comment on this post to be eligible for the contest!

{I received a free Mirror Mate frame to review and try out for myself, but received no monetary compensation for this giveaway.}

If you don’t win and wish to try out one of these fab mirror frames, Mirror Mate is offering all  my readers a 10% discount:

Coupon code is SOUTHERN and is for 10% off. The coupon is good from now until 9.13.11.

P.S. I’m flying out today to San Diego for the BIG BlogHer Knorr Four Cook-off!  Wish me luck.  I had to leave  my mama at home, but we practiced those chicken and dumplings before I left. 🙂  They turned out GREAT and everyone at the table said they were a winner! Let’s hope those judges like Southern comfort food.

    Hi Rhoda- What a difference a frame makes on a bathroom mirror.
    I am in the process of painting my bathroom Oyster Bay, with bronze accents. I really like the Acadia Oiled Bronze frame. It would go with the clearance bronze faucets and towel holders I found. I just love your blog, so many different ideas. You have been so blessed with all of the opportunities that have come your way. Take care, and have fun in So. Calif. blessings – Paula Lusk

    Venetian Bronze Wave is such a beautiful frame. I love the movement the carving seems to give it…but, then, there are others I’d really have to consider as well! I’m impressed that MirrorMate offers samples to help make in-home decisions.

    I think I just looked at all of them! In the end, my favorite is the Mediterra Glazed Stone. It’s gorgeous and would go perfectly over my builders’ mirror in the guest bath! Thanks!!!!

    I first read about these frames several years ago in a Southern Living magazine. I was very intrigued by them. My favorite style is the Mediterra Glazed Stone.
