Hi friends! Welcome to our Christmas front porch this year. It looks much the same as past years, but I’ve made a few additions which make a festive difference. If you’re stopping by from Home by Heidi, welcome to you. I’m Rhoda, a long time blogger (almost 16 years now) and I’ve been sharing my holiday home on my blog for all those years, so that’s a lot of Christmas sharing over the years. We love Christmas around here and like to start the festiveness at the front door. A welcoming porch says a lot, doesn’t it?!
This week, I’ll be joining some other bloggers who are also sharing certain spaces in their home and today is front porch day, so you’ll see lots of great ideas in this group. You’re sure to be inspired!

You’ll see all the days and links at the bottom of the post so keep looking.

Last year, I decided to add wreaths to our windows this year, so went out after Christmas to Michaels and got their inexpensive simple wreaths. I bought bows and ribbon on the after Christmas sales and it was all waiting for me this year. It made a little more work, but Mark helped me and we got it done in just an hour or so. We lowered the top of the windows and put the wreaths through and placed there where we wanted them and then shut the windows back. I love how they look!

When I shared a pic on Instagram, someone mentioned that tall window in our foyer, that it needed a wreath too. I said, maybe so but we aren’t climbing up that high, so it’s going to be naked. I do love the added cheer that the wreaths make in the windows.

I’ve stuck with traditional colors of greens and reds out here and I just use the same things over and over for the most part. Simple garland on the railings and deep red bows.

I added my black lanterns with a big bow on top and added some ornaments inside. Those are outdoor pillar candles with remotes. These candles with remotes are the ones I use outside. They aren’t wax and hold up well to the elements. I use these on the back porch during summer and out here for Christmas and they use regular batteries.

I’ve had this Christmas tree in urn for several years now and decided to add it to the porch this year and I love it. It’s very slim and fits well on this side. I got it from Lowes years ago. I have it on a timer at night along with the garland around the door and the lights come on automatically at dusk.

I hang these big plastic Christmas balls from cup hooks on the ceiling and love how they add such fun to the porch.

A wool ball garland and some large pinecone ornaments hang from the front side of the porch.

Red bows tie it all together. On this side is Mark’s childhood sled and I picked up those old ice skates at a thriftstore to add to the ambience. That cute sign came from At Home a few years ago as did the door mat.

I have plenty of Christmas ornaments to go around and these are perfect on the porch. It’s a small porch, but I try to make the most of it.

Merry Christmas sign is new this year and my wreath is a simple Target wreath I’ve had forever.

It’s a cute and festive porch especially at night when it’s all lit up.

Merry and Bright, y’all!

The lights came on and I got some snaps of dusk with the lights on. That’s when the magic happens.

Sparkle and cheer!

And that’s our holiday porch this year. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas season and enjoy it to the max. I love when all the decorating is done and I can sit back and relax for the whole month of December. It’s my birthday month too, so lots of celebrating (well, sort of, except for the getting older part!).

One more last shot of the night sky and the porch all lit up for Christmas. Thank you all for stopping by and seeing our porch this year. It’s not that much different from years’ past, but I am enjoying the urn tree and the new wreaths in the windows. Please do yourself a favor and visit all the other porches today. You are sure to be inspired as you get your Christmas decorating done too. I can say I’m officially done now, just finished the tree over the weekend and that feels good.
I’ll be sharing my mantel and kitchen on Thursday, so come back for that. And of course I’ll share the rest of my house later on too!
Don’t miss visiting Cindy Hattersley who is next on the tour. She is super talented and I know you’ll enjoy her holiday porch as well.

Love your front porch Christmas Decorations.
Rhoda, your porch looks lovely, and my favorite thing? Those ice skates on the sled! I have the sled but now need to find the skates to capture that nostalgia you added. Not sure I’ll be up to putting wreaths on the windows this year (busy renovating the inside so maybe next year!), but I love the heartwarming look yours have. Thanks for all of the years of beauty and inspiration.
Thanks Michelle, I appreciate the kind words. After I bought those wreaths and got them out this year, I thought ugh…one more thing to do, but I’m so glad we did it. They look so good!
Hi Rhoda
I was thinking to myself that you and Mark should not be climbing up on that roof. Problem solved you didn’t ! Your home is always the epitome of festive. I bet everyone that drives by has a smile on their face. Always fun to participate with you!
Lovely and welcoming, Rhoda … and I love your traditional red and green color scheme. Wreaths in the windows are a wonderful touch, although sometimes getting them in place can be risky business! The skates are so fun and feel nostalgic. Let the holiday season begin! xo
Rhoda, your front porch is so beautiful! Just love all the colors! Your night pictures are so pretty, too. The wreaths on your windows just add so much to your gorgeous outside decorations. How nice that Mark was able to help you. Glad you are done your decorating and can just relax and enjoy this lovely Christmas season. Bless you both throughout this wonderful time of year.
It all looks so lovely! You should be proud. Could you add sparkle lights to the window wreaths as well? Not that they need them but would add even more ambiance
Hi, yes I love lights but battery lights don’t work that well and I wouldn’t be able to plug them in.
I love the wreaths, so pretty and such a great addition to your home. Your entry is stunning – the garland around the door is so beautifully done and adding the tree is the perfect touch. You always create such pretty displays and this is one of your best. Love it all.
Just wonderful, Rhoda. The window wreaths take it to the next level! I know it’s a lot of work, but think of all the smiles as neighbors go by your home.
Rhoda, your front porch looks lovely and festive for the holidays.
I haven’t even started my porch yet but am looking for ideas and this is so cute. I’ve never thought to add ornaments or felt garland to my porch but this year just might be the year! Everything looks so vibrant and festive. I’m sure your entire street is talking about how pretty it is. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Rhoda your front porch is so festive and cheerful, it looks like you’re ready for a Christmas party!! Love all your colorful touches and the wreaths on the windows are so pretty. I would be leaving that high middle window naked too!!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas season! xx
